jiang nan spring is definitely on the michelin guide for good reason! while not the most modern, upscale restaurant, it's a clean place with friendly service and incredible chinese food in hearty portions! come here with a big group for access to a table with a lazy susan and the ability to try a wide variety of dishes! if the table isn't filled, you're not doing it right!food review:s-tier:seaweed flavored fried fish: it's basically fish filet coated with this heavenly seaweed-infused batter that's light, airy, and packed with flavor! this is supposedly their signature dish, so definitely give it a try!beef and maw szechuan special sauce: even if you don't like beef innards, i still highly recommend this dish. it's a cold dish that has beef tongue, tripe, tendon, and other offals tossed in a spicy, savory sauce that is certain to whet your appetite for your main courses.dongpo pork: sweet, salty, and rich. while some places' dongpo pork is over cooked and tough or too salty, jiang nan gets it just right, making it a perfect staple.eggplant and ground pork in hot garlic sauce: i'm generally a sucker for this dish, but i'd say i'm also pretty qualified to rate it, since i basically order this whenever i see it on the menu. i thought jiang nan did a great job with it, as the eggplant was thoroughly cooked (no undercooked/raw eggplant yuck) and packed with that spicy, savory, garlicky, and tangy sauce that makes me love this dish so much. a-tier:green onion pancake: very flaky and had nice layers. overall very solid green onion pancake.honey walnut prawns: loved the sweetness of the sauce and the plump prawns, though i wish the walnuts were in slightly bigger pieces.sautéed string beans with ground pork: very well salted and had that nice wok flavor! b-tier:spicy boiled fish filet: despite its name, i felt like it wasn't spicy enough and the flavors fell a little flat for me.green onion beef: solid dish, but nothing too special.jiang nan spring is an excellent place for some quality chinese food that you can enjoy with a large group! definitely would recommend!
