Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, Louisville Reviews from The Last Year
So happy we took the plunge and ate here
The place is old world and eclectic. The steaks are aged to perfection. Our waiter was on it. Wine list, comfortable no matter which direction you go. Desserts especially the butter pie and carrot cake are delicious. It’s a place to go if you want to splurge. It was a lovely lovely evening. This restaurant is, plain old well done. On a sidenote, I absolutely loved the buttermilk ranch dressing. They just make an expensive dinner a lovely experience. Worth every penny.
Excellent food and service.
The waygu meatball is 10/10. We had not been to this location and sat in the bar area, it was very crowded and noisy. Choose dining seating if you are looking for a more romantic setting. Wish we had asked to move tables.
Went for dinner on a Thursday night and sat at the bar.
Nice atmosphere, great service. Had drinks, oysters, tuna tartare, sushi roll, and a single crab leg. And therein lay the problem. To be fair, it said market price on the menu. I rarely ask how much. I really wish I had. Per our bill, we had 8.5 ounces of crab. Roughly a half pound. A quick google search will tell you that the wholesale price of King Crab is currently $50-$60 a pound. Therefore, a half pound cost the restaurant $25-$30. I certainly understand and appreciate that restaurants deserve a reasonable markup. The crab on our bill came to $102. I certainly don't think a 4x markup is fair or reasonable! Based on that, in the future, I will choose to dine elsewhere.
Feb 2024.
This was a great place for a group dinner. I went there once and we had a table for about 12, and they allowed separate checks. Service was great. Food was just good, but the fact that they would accommodate a group and did it well was excellent. I also went back with another group in a private room. That was also good for a group, and it was a really nice environment. I would definitely take a group here again for the food, drinks and great ambiance. Upbeat and not a "quiet" place. 4.5.
Jeff's again for the win!
We scored a table in the bar. The fantastic Robbie Bartlett was singing! We started with fantastic cocktails. They are generously sized to start your evening off well. Our server Loreal was an absolute delight and made our evening with her personality and top notch professionalism. We had oysters on the half and a king crab leg (which was huge!). That was very filling. Next we split the wedge and each got a large piece of deliciously cooked belly on top. We were getting full so we split a filet with mashed and Mac 'n cheese. We asked for something chocolatey for dessert. Loreal brought out a red colored chocolate torte and a rose that she poured liquid nitrogen over. We sang and laughed with Robbie and had an absolutely wonderful evening.
I have found another steak house that is over-the-top can I
I have found another steak house that is over-the-top can I only give five stars fabulous. From the second we walked in until the we walked out, we felt the amazing experience of being at Jeff Ruby's. We waited for just a few minutes and then brought to our seat. This place was elegant-rustic with a positive vibe of energy throughout. There was someone at our table within seconds to greet us, bring water and menus. You could just feel the profesioanlism in the air. My wife and I had reviewed the menu in advance of our visit so we knew exactly what we were having. We both loved the artwork hanging and everything here added to the experience. I had stopped by the sushi bar entering and a very proud chef discussed the various roles. Our experience: Appitizers: Miami Roll: Tuna, Salmon, Yellow Tail, Hokkaido Scallop, Mango, Cucumber, Grilled Pineapple relish, Chili Oil, Soy Crepe Onion Soup: Delish broth with a wonderful coating of Guyre cheese Entrees: 8oz Filet Mignon Mediterranean Bronzino: Herbed Couscous, Swiss Chard, Almond Romesco Sides: Baked Potato Brussel Sprouts Desserts: Cheese Cake Everything we ate was AMAZING! Sushi - delicious - Steak delicious - Fish - Delicious. I could not recommend this food enough. Dining should be an experience and at Jeff Ruby's it was. This venue should be a "must visit" for anyone who considers themself a fine diner. Jeff Ruby's does this with a passion for perfection. Without a doubt, JR is one of the finest restaurants I have ever had the pleasure to dine at. The staff here is as professional as a staff can get. They just can't do enough for the guests. KUDOs to the Team at Jeff Ruby's.
#1
Big fan of this place. Will definitely return. Honestly can not say anything bad about this place. Usually eat at Tony's in Indy (favorite place). We would rate this place #1. We will return just for a good steak.
Jeff Ruby’s first timer
First time there and it was excellent. Great food excellent service. Son and I had the 70 day bone in strip steak. I had it with the Collinsworth topping son had the Joe Burrow topping. Wedge salad and sides of mushrooms and lobster gnocchi. Appetizers oysters Rockefeller and seared scallops dessert crème brûlée.
This restaurant is everything a classic fine dining
This restaurant is everything a classic fine dining steakhouse should be. It is a 5 Star in my book. Decor is great and ambiance fantastic (the piano player was very good). The service was impeccable and our waitstaff - Paul and Michael - were very attentive. We passed on the salads but did try the Wagyu meatball and the prawns for appetizers which were excellent. I had the bourbon filet and my wife had the petit filet mignon both cooked to perfection. And the mashed potato and creamed spinach sides were also excellent. The highlight of the dining experience was the Golden Glove Cake created by pastry chef Kelly Zeigler. Words just cannot describe the taste of the cake. Needless to say, we could not finish the cake but did bring it home to enjoy again.
Chandler and Anna were both fantastic.
It's our last night of our first visit to the great state of KY to visit family that just moved here and we will definitely come back. Celebrated an upcoming birthday and really enjoyed the filet mignon, Freddie salad, and lobster mac n cheese. Chandler also recommended the Woodford Double Oaked whiskey for this tired mama who has been helping elder family members for the past 3 days straight and needed a drink. Thanks for the perfectly sized birthday treat at the end. I also appreciated the hostess removing all the sharp steak knives when I told her my son has ADHD and ASD and she said she used to be a behavior specialist at a school. All around great experience. Love the swanky decor, luxe ambiance and music. Will have to try their sushi and seafood next time.
The food is delicious to say the least! Great choice of
The food is delicious to say the least! Great choice of appetizers and bar beverages. We had a large groups so the entrees and appetizers varied. I had the waygu meatball ( outstanding). I noticed oysters, and someone had the cornbread with jalapeños, it was over the top, there were more options but I sat too far away to see everything. My spouse had the French onion soup and raved about it! Our cocktails arrived in a timely manner. The entire food and drink delivery was top notch. Your staff should be proud. Our service was amazing. Our server with the assistant's left us wanting or needing any thing. Water glasses always full, pre bussing constantly. This is how to treat a guest. Your service is top notch. Loved the layout or the restaurant, ambiance is alive with beautiful people and smiling faces. Jeff Rubys truly does deliver an amazing dinner experience. It'll will always be my favorite go to! Thanks for a great dinner.

Update: I get a response from the owner to reach out via email and someone would contact me. I followed the instructions, and someone did reach out. We had a conversation on January 27th to discuss our experience. He was apologetic and said he needed to call the restaurant then would call me back. I get the call back and he said they would fix the issue by offering us a gift card. Today is February 11th, and I have yet to hear from him or the restaurant concerning the gift card. At this point, it further confirms our customer service experience! It's unfortunate they had the opportunity to correct an issue and have reoccurring customers. I'd say if you're looking for great food with excellent customer service, do yourself a favor and bypass Jeff Ruby's and head to Ruth Chris instead!!!
Took my Dad here recently, first time for both of us.
It lived up to the hype. We are not huge steak people but we both got filets and I think we would both agree it was the best steak we have ever had. The sides (mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts) were also delicious. I wanted to try the lobster gnocchi but knowing my dad is not a big eater, it felt like too much so I'll have to try that next time. The sushi roll we got (Hamachi Chuukara roll) was okay but I wish we had tried a different one. The mocktail was fun and cute. The dessert we got (twin spires cake) was good, but I wish we had listened to the recommendations of the server and tried a different one like butter pie. Run for the Roses dessert that a couple of neighboring tables got looked super fun just for the spectacle with the rose. Service was very good, my dad said the best he's had in Louisville.
We had one of the best dinners of our lives at Jeff Ruby's.
Aside from the bizarre, unfriendly attitudes of the female bartenders, it was amazing. The bluefin trio appetizer was heaven on a plate. We enjoyed it immensely! I lucked out and got what I wanted on special. $65 for filet and lobster served with asparagus and mashed potatoes? Unreal! My husband got the A5 Wagyu ribeye and it was so tender and buttery. Our waiter, Logan, was so attentive and had great suggestions. His suggestion of the Brussels sprouts as a side was spot on. They were amazing!! We will definitely be back again for another wonderful date night!
Best dining experience in Louisville- Tony Shaw, GM has
Best dining experience in Louisville- Tony Shaw, GM has built a wonderful team who are very attentive to each persons dining experience. Newly Remodeled - place is beautiful and great dining atmosphere. Order Jeff Ruby Roll- best sushi roll ever had(had a lot), Shrimp Cocktail was perfect with great sauce. Freddie Salad was fantastic then had a perfect NY Strip with Brussels sprouts, garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms. Great Carrot cake to end the night along with a top notch Old Fashioneds... Highly recommend the best steakhouse in Louisville and one of the best in the country!

Nothing short of AMAZING!!!
We just got back from the annual Kentucky Farm Bureau at the Galt House. Each year our group has a group dinner at Jeff Ruby's. We have been invited the last two years and have taken our toddler daughter. This place has rolled out the red carpet for us both years. We've had John as our server both years and he is just absolutely phenomenal. John is friendly and professional and makes you feel like you are the most important people in the world. Some places aren't tolerant of small children but they treated my daughter so wonderfully. John brought her a child cup and offered several times to bring her food out early. She was well behaved and he told us we had a very good daughter as we were leaving and he remembered us from last year. ALL of their food was outstanding. Their mac and cheese is to die for and steak is melt in your mouth. I look forward to our Farm Bureau trip every year just to dine here. It's not just dinner, it's an unforgettable experience. John, if you are reading this, thank you for making our visit amazing!
Uber Fail! Front bar staff suck!
It’s really unfortunate that the first 10 mins can set the mood for the entire dinner. I was waiting in the front bar behind the people who were seated at the bar as no space was available to get a drink. This is where the girl in the front desk said I should stand as any of the 4 or 5 bartenders would see me and get me a drink. Uber Fail! Stood there for 10 mins and it was obvious that none of the sissy’s behind the bar wanted to get me a drink. I would have just let with my party but one of the people I was with wanted to try Rubys. I live in Cincinnat and have been to all of the Jeff Ruby’s and have never experienced such an obvious snub. Oh well guess the 10/15 dollar tip went to the server who waited on us. Btw - I live down the street from Logan Wilson LB from the Bengals. Won’t be back to this Rubys.
Best steakhouse in Louisville
Jeff Ruby‘s steakhouse in my opinion is one of the best high-end steakhouse I’ve been to in a long time! For us, it was a special occasion because we came up to visit our son and his girlfriend on our semi annual trip to Louisville! From A-to-Z, everything was totally enjoyable Food atmosphere service. hats off to Max, Chandler and Abram, Chris the manager, stopped by to say hello to us, and check out our food quality!
Dinner
Sat at the bar and the bartenders were prompt and super helpful in choosing from the menu items and making my meal a great experience!
Simply....WOW!
I have had the fortunate to have eaten at some of the best steakhouses in the USA and this is right up there. Why? 1. Amazing atmosphere and decorum. Tables in back nicely spaced out and not crowded. The bar area with high top tables and two TVs playing football games looks really fun....wished we had booked it. 2. Staff is super nice and professional. Our server Nick was amazing and had a great attitude and really helped us on menu. 3. Of course the steak....we had NZ Waygu Rib Eye Cap and and bone-in tomahawk. Love the crust (must have seared that at like 900 degrees), mash potatoes were good (where are garlic mash??) and believe or not, the blue fin tuna sashimi sampler was amazing--highly recommend. 4. Great wine list but unfortunately NYC prices. A few hidden gems on pricing if you hunt. Highly recommend....

That's what AT sponsorships are for - and you are only paying 25% in the first year and then less in year two and three.
I beliebe @EternalAnt36 was sponsored by @PerceptiveWash44 and is now doing $25k/mo.
You can write on the top sellers profiles (type 'Top 10' in the searchbar) and then tap request sponsorship button after you found the guy or gal like to work with!
