First, part of the rating is a mismatch of the ambiance we desired. A long time resident of Dallas recommended Javier's to us. It was my husband's birthday. We arrived and the place is packed. We get seated at a table that has a view to the hallway and the waiters' computer stand. We were hoping for a romantic place - but that is not Javier's. Much livelier, loud, bustling, faint smell of cigars. The red salsa was warm and very delicious. The green salsa had a slight sweetness to it which I didn't like but perhaps some people do. My husband ordered one of the fish dishes (A La Mexicana) and it was pretty good. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was nice. The side carrots was mediocre. A different, green vegetable would have made more sense. My dish is what wrecks it. I got a shrimp dish that tasted like a kid experimented with all the condiments in the fridge to create the sauce and thinned it with water. After eating the first shrimp I dunked the next shrimp into the red salsa. I swirled it around and tried to get a dollop of salsa into my mouth with the shrimp. No luck, I could still taste the weird sauce it had been sautéed in. Lastly, I got the skinny margarita which was too tart.
