🤢 2/5 - Poor value for the money

So today I'm at Jack Astor's with my wife. We ordered a beer each, one order of fries, a crab dip and 15 chicken wings. This was $86 before the tip. The service was good so we tipped the waiter. The food, not so much. For this amount of money I would expect fresh cut fries not frozen. I also expect them to be recently made and not ones that have obviously spent some quality time under a heat lamp to keep them warm. The 15 wings were a 2 pound order. I got this from a restaurant supply guide: "For buffalo wings (drumlette and wing flat separated) 10-12 pieces are in a pound." Ours were not, we got 15 wings in a 2 pound order. We asked for hot and got mild to medium. I'm reminded of the old bit "The food here is terrible and such small portions" The vegetables that came with the wings were dried up and wilted, so basically inedible. I don't expect brown ends on "fresh" veggies. The dip tasted good but once again, a small serving for $20 I get that price have gone up for everybody but if you raise prices, you shouldn't lower quality at the same time. Also, I understand that the cost of living has gone up for everyone and that the wait staff are affected by this. When the restaurant raises their prices, the former standard 15% should still be on the pay machine and not tips starting at 20% and up from there. The tip is based on the price of the meal so when the restaurant raises their prices, the 15% would be proportionally more so the wait staff would still make more. That's it, I've run out of complaints. My wife and I both said that we would go somewhere else the next time we had a desire for wings. That should be easy to do given the price for the substandard meal we got today.
