So... not worth it. My sister-in-Law Recommended this place since it kosher. We ordered the brisket sandwich, shredded beef empanadas, shredded beef sandwich, sweet potato. The brisket was dry, the empanadas were ok. The sweet potatoes is a whole sweet potato not typical candied yams. Not really worth it. A lot of money for something not super special.

Went to the location on the Upper West Side on Sunday after reading about how good this place is. $27 for one sandwich. And it's puny. And the bread was stale. And it doesn't come with sides.Seriously puny for $27.I'll never go here again.$27 for one barely mediocre sandwich.

My friend and I went for a quick late night dinner on a Monday night and were happily surprised. I highly recommend the burnt ends, the mashed potatoes, the pickles, and the veggies! The chimichurri chicken was also great. I genuinely don't know why there are such bad reviews on here. I think it's a good little spot!
Be the first to ReplyWe ordered $350 in takeout & 2 of our orders were wrong.
The restaurant refused to refund the NON Gluten free meal they sent us in place of gluten free, also another meal was missing the advertised guacamole & tortilla. The brisket was dry & almost inedible!DO NOT PATRONIZE THEM!

I cannot think of a worse experience EVER, of food in NY. This was just awful. If you value your money and your stomach, never order from this place.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is pretty freaking great but the prices are insane.
I paid over $20 for a chicken sandwich. For takeout. They need to get a reality check. Agree with other reviewers-Dinosaur is a better bet.

My DH and I shared the ribs; they were seriously delicious! The portions were generous and the service was great. Fries were hot and crisp. The house salad has a wonderful balsamic vinaigrette on the side. Two thumbs up; it's a great place!

The fact that they cALL THIS BBQ is an insult to all the people in America that painstakingly take the time and effort to create such high quality and delicious smoked meats. I got brisket sandwich and was basically the worst roast beef I've ever put into my mouth. Sometimes there was a hint of smoke flavor but not really. The giant Chunk of super chewy brisket right in the middle made me want to chuck it at kitchen staff and see if they could consume the giant rubber ball of fat.If you like a massive pile of dog food on your plate at a premium price, this is the place for you.Oh, and what's up with the potato soup,er..."mashed potatoes"Biggest waste of $40 in my life.Biggest BBQ disappointment of my lifeBiggest restaurant experience disappointment of my lifeIf there is a God, this place will disappear ASAP and be forgotten forever

What a joke! Ordered back ribs yesterday - I was given bare bones!!!! Can not believe I payed $55, seem like they cut all the meat off to make sandwiches for other customers. Can't believe this, going to my regular Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem today.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a nice place to enjoy a BBQ Brisket sandwich.
We really did not have anything else on the menu. Food is very good and tasty. The rest of the restaurant is a no frills outdoor picnic type establishment.I would not call it dining.Due to Covid, seating is scarce.Prices are okay.
Be the first to ReplyVery good casual Kosher BBQ spot.
Will eat here again for lunch if I'm in the area. They have a location on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and Crowne Heights, Brooklyn. Haven't tried the one in Brooklyn yet, but will check it out sometime.
Be the first to ReplyI googled bbq in Nyc and stumbled upon izzys.
I'm looking for someone to cater my baby shower event and the Instagram photos with food looked amazing at this place, so I took the liberty to go try it first. I took 4 friends and we ordered ribs(we later find out it's 1 rib) and some tri tip that was only enough for 2 people. The meats were extremely dry! the baked beans also dry, vegetables did not look appetizing they were over steamed and goey. Mashed potatoes were watery. Everything was a mess and not toMention you serve yourself . FOR $190.00 BILL I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SERVE MYSELF, especially not terrible food. I suggest you go to Maybels smokehouse in Brooklyn instead, you get a bang for your buck and quality meats!

I don't know why people eat here?? The quality of the bbq is OKAY and yet they charge prices as if you're eating at a Michelin bbq joint. I still think the best barbecue (so far) is Hometown.. but the crazy thing is their bbq is melt in your mouth crazy, with unique staples like their Hometown bbq sauce, and yet with a price tag that is fair!!! I mean, $55 for ribs? You can get steak at so many places for cheaper than this. Here we go:Brisket - 3/5 - Flavorless and a little dryCreamy Slaw - 4/5 - Good, could be creamierPulled Beef Fries - 3.5/5 - Too sweet, and was waaay too salty. Was expecting a real pulled beef texture, but this one kind of clumped together and was hard. I think there was also some portion of mashed beans in the recipe .. ehHouse Slaw - 3/5 - EhBurger - 3/5 - Needed more sauce, patty a little dry, bun wasn't my favorite (also dry) .. I mean, look at the photoHonestly, if the food was normal prices comparable to other bbq spots, the review might be worth one more star, but it's almost insane how much they charge for mediocre food. Would not come again. Would not recommend. Would not be deceived by the crowds of people that come here every night.
Be the first to ReplyTable was not cleaned when we went to sit down.
For the prices they're charging, they could at least make the place look even half as good as a McDonald's. Food was meh, only reason it's not a 1 star is because the staff were friendly

Finally tried Izzy's BBQ (because my work was comping our meal so I could finally justify a $25 sandwich). Ordered the brisket sandwich, which was full of flavor and texture. Brisket was nice and tender, but the sandwich definitely could've used more sauce as it was a bit dry. Fries were very meh. Would like to try their pulled BBQ beef sandwich next time.

When I say this hurts, it's because it stings on multiple levels to leave a 1 star review. I avoid it like an STD, impregnation or a world wide plague that escaped from a lab. This experience left me no choice based on the clear lack of giving AF about their meat. Pause. End Ribs ($55): -5 Burnt Ends($27): the worst in human history Smoke: non existant Flavor: zero, zilch, nada, empty Mashed Potatoes: -5 Slaw: the only redeeming part of the mealQuality: disgraceful Portion to price: insultingThe food was so bad, I threw out most of the meal half way through trying to eat it. Yes, I spent over $100 on this shit show and it was so horrific, I gave up. I've never done that before (I'm including the McRib); to give up on BBQ is akin to giving up on life. This is coming from a malaka who's eaten food showcased behind glass at rest stops on the interstate...sober. Intentionally. The meats here were so dreadful, it makes BBQ's (Dallas) taste like their's is award winning Q. The icing on the cake is the price. Besides that fact the 'Q (and the sides) is a disgrace to BBQ culture, they have the audacity to charge a premium for this slop. This is BBB (Barbecue Bullshit) & just like the original ZO2, it's an overpriced knockoff. Hi Lavar!Have you ever eaten public school/prison food cafeteria mashed potatoes ? Yes, I mean the boxed ones. Miss it? Eat theirs, you'll be reunited. It was $8. The burnt ends were not only dry AF, it tasted like they were from 2 days ago and reheated in a microwave. The were absolutely flavorless in seasoning and smoke. $27. You couldn't pay me $270 to eat one piece of this again. The back end beef ribs were mortifying to eat. The taste is a repeat of the above, but twice as bad. Oh, and they have the fuc'n nerve to charge $55 for four ribs. That's not a typo. Fifty. Five. American dollars. If it was pesos, it would still be too much money. The entire order had no soul. Not only was it all under seasoned, but none of the meats had any smoke taste -whatsoever. This was the most disappointing meal & decision of 2021. I have no one to blame, but myself. And, YouTube. Beware of Youtube cooking shows that highlight restaurants in the 5 boroughs, like this restaurant. Especially when the hosts are ones you know don't have any background in the food industry, but rather are put on the screen to appeal to the "cool-hipster" factor that is...Brooklyn. Fool me once YouTube...There is one pro- it's kosher. If this is what Kosher BBQ has to taste like, there is no point in eating BBQ. The only reason to eat here would be because you have money to burn, tolerate bad food and have to eat kosher. If that's not the case, don't make the same mistake I made. In closing, I could tell you I'm coming back to give them a second chance, but that's not ever happening. This wasn't a "one off/bad moment" by the kitchen. There are too many red flags that happened that I don't see them fixing, unless the entire cooking process is remixed. By far the worst food experience in years. This is an epic fail from A to Z.
