This place is a must try.
The restaurant is simple and to the point. You seat yourself, place your order on your phone, and wait for the food to come. The food did take a little long to come out, but it was a busy Saturday night and the restaurant had a ton of to-go orders. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious. The butter chicken was one of the best I have tried. Would recommend this spot and return on future trips to the DC area.
Be the first to ReplyIt's has a great vibe and the food is delicious.
I had the veggie samosas, the Punjabi special and a Taj Mahal beer. It's great all the around. The only thing is that it doesn't have an inside so it very communal with benches. I like it and the service is great too.

I live very close to Indigo but probably eat it once every six months; each time I go back I'm reminded why it had been so long since I'd eaten there. The dishes I've tried are average and the value for money is sorely lacking. I ordered the butter chicken entree for pickup and brought it home to eat. The butter chicken comes with chickpeas and rice that is inexplicably topped with raw spinach. The butter chicken lacks any complexity or depth of flavor and isn't even very buttery. While this dish is not supposed to be overcomplicated, there are very few discernible flavors in Indigo's version. Even the tomato flavor was so mild that I was left disappointed. I understand that this place is popular for people who don't eat Indian food often and that there aren't that many Indian places in this particular vicinity. Neither of those facts excuse this lackluster and boring dish, especially given the price. For $18, I don't believe this meal is worth it. The addition of chickpeas on the side doesn't really elicit any positive feelings either, as they are not very flavorful either.

I have never been disappointed but I have not been "wowed". I do not really like their roti/ naan but love their butter chicken! They have a large menu with great options for everyone - including vegetarian and gluten free. The way that this place works is that if you are eating there, then you scan the QR code to place your order and then a server brings it to your table. The service was pretty good. The ambiance is also nice - they have space outside that small or large groups can sit. It is very cute and spacious! They also have heaters in the outdoor area when it is cooler out.
Be the first to ReplyConsistently great North Indian food.
Their butter chicken is among the best that I have had in DC.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for dinner while in DC.
This was potentially the best Indian food I've ever had, but I'm also from Texas and we aren't known for our Indian food. The service was kind of slow, if I'm being honest, but they were busy and we were able to enjoy our drinks while waiting. The quality of the food was outstanding. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and it was a little on the spicy side, but not too spicy to where you couldn't enjoy it. I enjoyed the chickpeas and spinach that came with the rice. I found the samosas to be absolutely wonderful! The flavor was great as is, but the chili pepper sauce (or whatever it was) that came with it, took this dish to the next level! I wish I could go back while I'm in town, but for now, I'll just have to remember this and come back the next time I'm in town!
Be the first to ReplyIt was very okay.
I had heard a lot of praise for this restaurant - it's in all the neighborhood guides and even featured in the Michelin guide - so I had high expectations. It's understandable that it's self-service,so you scan a QR code and they bring you your food. However, you have to get your own utensils and water - something that I feel like is the bare minimum when it comes to service. For a "fast" casual restaurant, it took ~40 minutes to get our food.I had the lamb curry, and my friend had the vegetarian combo with paneer masala and gobhi aloo (cauliflower). Paneer masala was not good, but we liked the cauliflower and I liked my lamb curry. The channa was definitely the standout. I got a plain naan and it was soooo salty - like I could feel the grains of salt in my hands. I saw some reviews about the amount of food, but the portions didn't strike me as particularly big.I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think it's worth the hype.

Oh. My. God. One of the best authentic Indian I've had. I only ate in-person, so the food was always fresh. I typically got the butter-chicken which was a great portion size. Filling and satisfying, and not too expensive! I also loved the atmosphere of this location, especially in the summer. Although it's always busy and finding a seat may be a little difficult, it's well worth it. Highly recommend!!

Great ambiance and really nice to go to year round. When the weather is nice, its great getting an Indian beer and chicken tikka with friends. Definitely reccomend.
Be the first to ReplyA decent place to relish Indian cuisine.
Good Management, order using online link. American level spicy food with wide variety of North Indian food. #indiancuisine #foodinDC #foodnearme #indigo
Be the first to ReplyUsed to be a huge fan of this place pre-pandemic.
Recently stopped by to order carry out and was disappointed by the insane wait time. It took nearly an hour for me to get my food, which was just an order of 1 meal. Everyone around me was equally frustrated, being told online their order was ready only to wait an extra 30 mins inside. If you plan on getting dinner here, be prepared to wait 40 mins to an hour.
Be the first to ReplyBest Indian food, possibly best food overall in DC.
It's home cooking and it's simply delicious. The owners put so much care into the food and drinks. It's a neighborhood place at heart.Favorites are Chicken Saag or chicken tiki masala with a side of garlic roti. It comes with rice and chick peas so the portions are rather large. The drinks are also awesome. Wash down the spiciness with a large Taj Mahal beer from the fridge, or order from an assortment of rotating cocktails from the outside bar. I plan to come back many times, thank you Indigo!

3.5 stars. Got the Butter Chicken, Paalak Paneer, and the Spicy Pumpkin Curry for take-out. It was all filling and definitely enough for 2 people. The pumpkin curry was VERY spicy, but pretty good and different! The butter chicken and paneer were not bad, but not my favorite. The butter chicken did come with rice and chickpeas. Indigo is an okay place to Indian food in DC that more affordable, but I would prefer other places!
Be the first to ReplyVery yummy! Nice and flavorful Indian food.
Great roti. Decent chicken but could be more tender.

Saturday afternoon, looking for a quick lunch spot near our hotel that offered outdoor seating. This spot has two large covered outdoor seating sections with propane heaters abound. The place essentially works as a "takeout" spot with scannable menus and a bar in the middle where you can order drinks separately. Decided on the Goat Curry Meal ($19ish) - a moderate cup of tender bon-in goat swimming in a flavorful curry, served alongside rice and chickpeas. Meat wasn't rough at all, not the easiest to eat in the cup, so best to dump it all in the rice/chickpeas platter. Also ordered a beer from their decent selection of drinks.Considering there was only one bartender, drinks took a bit of time but the food comes out quickly. Would certainly come by again to try another one of their offerings.

We had the Mango Masala and Chicken Tiki Masala meals, with a few pieces of the Plain Roti and Samosas. I thought it was pretty standard food, when I compare it to the Indian restaurants in Los Angeles. I especially enjoyed the roti, since it was warm and fresh. It's difficult for me to enjoy restaurants that aren't doing their part to take care of the environment. Everything is served in disposable containers, to include plastic cups, forks, spoons and knives. A big turn off for me. Street parking in the area. It's all outdoor seating in the patio area, but they have plenty of space heaters.
