Had the 6 course tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. However, giving 4/5 stars because I thought some dishes could have been more creative given this restaurant's Michelin star status, and the service could have been slightly better. FOOD: Excellent, though some dishes were slightly too standard for what I'd expect. Of course, this restaurant is known for its yellowtail tartar, risotto, and beef carpaccio, which were all excellent and quite unique. But I thought, while tasty, the paccheri alla vittorio and beef were both very simple dishes that I could have gotten anywhere else. The paccheri alla vittorio was slightly more unique in that a chef came to prepare it in front of us, grating in lots of fresh parmesan and serving it right off the stove in front of us. The beef was impressively cooked evenly throughout the fillet but felt a bit boring given all the creative appetizers. The tiramisu dessert was also prepared live in front of us by a pastry chef and while my party absolutely loved it, I personally thought that it wasn't quite sweet enough and didn't quite satisfy me after dinner. The petit fours did the trick though, with this incredible cannoncini being exactly what I needed, as well as the dark chocolate coffee drops and the panettone cake (which they get shipped from a famous establishment in Italy).SERVICE: Service was good but not as outstanding as the service I've received at some other michelin star restaurants. Despite lots of crumbs after the bread course, they placed the appetizer plates right on top and may not have cleaned the area if we hadn't asked. ENVIRONMENT: This restaurant in located on the ground floor of the gorgeous Raffles hotel and has a beautiful main dining room. We sat in a private dining room for dinner, which comfortably sat 8 people. The view isn't as nice there and it was sometimes quite loud as one wall was directly shared with an establishment next door (possibly the hotel bar?). But at least the space gave our party the privacy we wanted to enjoy a nice meal all together, and we still had a lovely time.

You know I read other people's reviews, and I understand where they are coming from. However, I have to say this is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in Paris. First of all, this restaurant does seat a lot of tourists, but the staff still speaks french. They were delighted when we greeted them and ordered in our best French translations but were willing to translate the menu and explain the dishes to us in English.Second of all, the food was amazing. We opted for the individual dishes (shared antipasta, individual pastas, and a shared meat) and we were beyond impressed with the flavors and the intricacies of each dish. We were then asked constantly if we could be accommodated in any other ways, and were constantly pleased with the helpfulness of the servers wether it be from refilling our drinks to replenishing our bread. Overall, this is not your traditional italian dish (if you want that, spend an extra hour on a plane and go to italy). But Il Carpaccio serves a unique mix of different italian-based flavors, with modern and unique twists. Again, we loved this place and as we left Mauro gave us his card and told us to "let him know if we ever want to come back". We certainly will!

We went here my 30th birthday dinner whilst we were in Paris, and I have to say, we were expecting a lot more from this experience.I will say that the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It's located in the gorgeous Raffles hotel, and the interior design of the small dining room is impeccable. If only the rest of the experience followed suit.Firstly - service. My husband had booked this restaurant months in advance, and had requested the best table in the restaurant suitable for two people. When the maître d' led us to a table that was clearly nowhere near the best table in the restaurant, we requested a specific table. He then told us this table was reserved for a birthday - to which I replied, yes it's my birthday - knowing that my husband had reserved this special table. The man then replied, 'We have a lot of birthdays tonight.' Interesting response - no smile, no apology, no happy birthday. Minutes later, he was eating his words as he come over to apologise to us as he had realised we had reserved that table. Would it not have been more appropriate to check in the first place??For the entire meal the service was lackluster. Never was there a smile - these people take themselves way too seriously. And a major faux pas that I would NEVER expect at a Michelin star restaurant - as soon as we had finished our starters, our mains arrived within moments. There was zero break between starter and main course, which is really unacceptable service to receive at a Michelin star restaurant. There was also a lot of time spent waiting around on the sommelier. On to the food - for a starter, I had grilled octopus with potatoes, rosemary, olives and bagna cauda. It had nice flavors, although was not in any way mind blowing. My husband had the beef carpaccio, which left a lot to be desired. He was not offered any olive oil or pesto with it (we later saw a French man ask for this and receive it), and as a result it was very lackluster and blah. The quality was good (obviously what you would expect), but the flavour was not there at all.For a main, I had a beef pasta - I can't recall the exact name, which was actually very nice. But I would nowhere put it up in my top Italian meals. In fact, every pasta dish I have had in Italy would easily surpass it. My husband had carbonara tortelli pasta. This is a dish he has had at two other Michelin star restaurants (1 in Rome and 1 in New York). This dish came nowhere close to those, and was lacking in flavour. The plus side was that the pasta was cooked perfectly. For dessert, since I am pregnant, I unfortunately could not have any of the desserts as they all have cream in them with raw egg that cannot be removed. I was however able to have gelato - which was nice. They did bring it out with a candle which was a nice touch.Overall, ok food - the presentation was beautiful, but this is not what I expect from a Michelin star restaurant and was ultimately quite a let down. Good friendly service at least would have been a nice touch.

..Probably our mistake. I thought the food was average and for a Michelin star place the service was slightly below average.
