The best way to phrase it is that the things we loved, we REALLY loved. The things we didn't love, were a major bummer. LOCATION- Marincanto couldn't be in a better location if the beach is your priority. You get the most incredible views of the city and the ocean from the property. You also have access to a private beach (for an additional 18 euro per day, but it's so worth it). AMBIANCE- This is where there are some huge polarities. The hotel itself is LOVELY. Perfection, really. Clean, beautiful and has the prettiest swimming pool. However, we stayed in the honeymoon suite, which is the closest room to the beach (lower down the mountainside) and literally couldn't sleep for half of our stay because there is a club directly below the room that blasts music until 5am. It's HORRIBLE. Seriously. We aren't that worried about noise generally, but this was excessive. AMENITIES- The hotel shares a private beach, which in Positano is worth gold. Anyone from the public has to pay upward of 70 euro a day to come over and get a lounge chair. Marincanto guests don't get the super nice lounge chairs, but they get some decent ones for less than 20 euro a day. That's bomb.- The swimming pool is gorgeous, although closes in the mid-evening. Like 8pm I think? Weird and annoying. I'd like to come swim after all the kids go to sleep, but whatever.- The front desk is pretty helpful. They helped us organize transportation to and from Naples, which was going to be stressful. - HONEYMOON SUITE TIPS: there is a pool in your room. Things to know: it has so much chlorine, it will burn of your nose hairs. Like straight up, chemical burn. I had to scrub and scrub after my dip in there. Also it's not heated? So you can't swim, and there are whirlpool jets, but it's cold. So.... not a hot tub, not a pool, more like a vat of something that might turn you into the Joker.VALUE- Our room was around $1000 a night. It was our honeymoon. We loved it overall, but the pool in the room was the big selling point and we barely used it (see above). It was also so freaking loud at the club we couldn't sleep and it derailed our plans quite a bit. So next time we'll take a room with a balcony and not spend quite as much, but we'd definitely come back.
