Outstanding
Absolutely fantastic experience. Friendly staff and the best piece of meat I’ve ever had. Strongly recommend trying this place.
Be the first to ReplyBad. Stay away as was pandemic site.
I have been there since 2018 for the butcher first, then for the restaurant just the evening. I should tell they have LOST the project. Now, 2023, they are unprofessional, rude, not very kindness and with absolutely no desire to work! The place is dirty, better stay away like PANDEMIA. And the meat sometimes is shoe sole. Pity.

We have been here a lot, & the pork chop I had a few months ago was probably the best pork chop I have ever tasted & I was excited it was on the blackboard menu again, however when it came is was not like the pork chop I had before which had no fat & a bone in it. This time it was very fatty & no bone, so I was confused & the waiter said it’s a pork loin, & I said but it says pork chop on the menu? Anyway he said sorry but he didn’t bother to change the blackboard menu. We didn’t eat it as too fatty, & would not of ordered if it said loin, but we were still charged in full The chicken breast was a breast & was nice We are not rushing back which is a shame.

A unique culinary experience. This place is a meat eaters paradise. We tried the lamb, the pork and the sirloin steak between us. All were cooked perfectly on an amazingly hot stove that can put crackling on a pork chop. Also enjoyed the salad and the cheesy roast new potatoes. The wine list is also very interesting. Colston basset cheese, chocolate desert and sweet wine to finish. Very good service. Must book as it's a tiny place in a busy area.

We ate at Hill and Szrok last night. We were lucky to get in before it filled up completely, so book to avoid disappointment. We had such a fabulous meal and the service was friendly, attentive, accommodating and happy to take time to chat about the business with us. My husband thinks it’s quite literally the best chicken dish he’s ever eaten. Even the music was spot on, the entire play list, every tune. We will go back and hope to take friends with us next time to share our discovery. What a find. We love this place.

A gorgeous dinner at Hill & Szrok reminding me exactly which its my favourite spot in London. The changes they’ve made to adhere to the Covid-19 regulations don’t take away any of the charm of this amazing cook shop and the staff remain as charming and friendly as always. Dinner was spectacular with everything being cooked to perfection. Such a lovely welcoming feel throughout the whole night. Special mention to those burnt onions and the dauphinois tats with anchovies...oh and the peppers...and the radicchio...and the MEAT! Crumbs. Everything was a treat. Thanks to the whole team.

Absolutely loved our meal here. The tortilla was one of th best I've ever had outside Spain. I had the Wing rib (600 g). The waitress said that it was a portion to share but I had no issues finishing it all by myself. It was delicious. If anything it could had done with a bit more of salt while cooking. The rump was also very good. The broccoli with anchovy butter was delicious as well. We'll be back. Soon!!!!

Had a great date with my partner here yesterday.
The location is great and the restaurant is very cosy and intimate. The wine list is great and the menu has few but great options.
On the downside, my meat was a bit undercooked, asked for a medium and was on the rare side, if not blue on some thicker points of the cut (I have enjoyed anyways as it was top quality, however someone else might have not).
Although the quality of the ingredients is excellent, I have found it a bit pricey for what they offer.
Despite these points, the whole experience was very positive and the staff was very attentive and polite. Surely a place to visit again to see the improvements.
Lovely
It is a cosy warm place, staff is polite and accommodating, atmosphere is familiar. It is a simple place, food is very tasty.
We had really well cocked wing of rib 750g, it was delicious.
Wine selection is very captivating with a decent range of options
Much better butcher (and still) than restaurant!
I am regular of their butcher shop and buy meat there regularly. Although on the pricey side, their meat is always excellent - although service is not always at par with some staff much nicer than others
On the restaurant side though, its a real rip-off: The meat was not of the same quality at all (really wonder how it is possible - maybe the cooking?), sides were average...but most of all, it was not acceptable price-wise. We ended up pay 60gbp+ per head for couple of wine glasses, two shared starter, few sides, and couple of small, average but massively overpriced "cotes de boeuf".
Its nice to have an amazing location, but there is work to do on the rest!
Wow
Stumbled into this place on a Sunday evening for an impromptu dinner. Great service and atmosphere (it's a butchers shop by day with a big slab of Victorian marble that becomes a shared dining table in the evening). I saved the best to last though..the food, we had the pork chop and a side of broccoli, both charred to perfection and I've not had such a good pork chop ever. Will be back for the steak.

So. Sat in a butchers shop. Yes, butchers shop. Eating meat. Good meat. Greeted and served on by Freya. Professional and friendly. The only thing spoiling my evening at the minute is listening to the whining child proclaiming herself to be vegan at the age of approximately 8. Irritating beyond belief! The constant proclamation about veganism fits the usual profile of ramming it down your throat. In one so young?? We are doomed Captain Mainwarring, we are doomed!! Unfortunately for said child, parents were feeding her vegan butter and vegan cheese. Pity they didn’t tell her it was vegan pork too! Anyway.....
Pork chop. Tasty and lovely and not over cooked.
Quail. Good.
Ham. Beautifully roasted. Just dry enough for me.
Pigs head was to die for.
Rillette nice.
The bread was tasty and appreciated by the baker.
All in all, yet another lovely once in a blue moon evening. Thank you very much team. It was worth including you in our long trip! Hope to come back soon.
Better than the so called best
F*ck off celebrity chefs, you are comfortably second to the food served in Hill and Scrock on Hackney Broadway Market.
The food which is cooked using the highest quality of ingredients, is of the highest standards.
The staff including the lovely Freya are informed and attentive but reassuringly down to earth.
If your not a complete phoney this is the restaurant you want to visit not just seen visiting.
