Fresh ingredients! Nice presentation! Delicious taste!
Fresh ingredients! Nice presentation! Delicious taste! Always super busy, if you don't have a reservation try to get there early to test your luck. Unagi rice is definitely worth trying! Not too sweet, fatty eel, yum!

Mind you, I was raised in California and while you may snicker that I grew up on Westernized Sushi, no one can argue that stuff is damn good. Almost all sushi spots I would hit along the San Francisco coast were managed and owned by authentic Japanese people. I say this because of my negative review. I've been to Tokyo even and though I may agree authentic Japanese is much different than California Japanese, this particular spot, though authentic, was not good to my taste buds at all. For over $30 I tried the 4 course meal of miso soup, fried tofu, some weird rice mash plate and sashimi. For close to $40, my boyfriend also had a four course similar to mine except he had a sushi plate. Sounds like a lot? Yeah, well, we were still hungry after. His sushi plate was lonely and a poor excuse for sushi. I mean for the amount you pay, you shouldn't be able to see the bottom of your sushi plate and the entire fish and its family should have been served. And it just tasted like...rice. Even my sashimi tasted old. Whenever I eat Japanese, I'm a happy bee. But last night's meal made me sad and even more hungry. I'm still on a hunt for good sushi in Germany. If you're American, I don't think you'll like this place. And I've learned just cause a place looks and says "authentic", doesn't mean it's good.

My go-to place for Japanese when I'm in town.

Second time I tried sushi in Germany and again reminded myself I never should have bothered. We arrive and they say they are full although we see empty tables. They seat the three of us at the cramped sushi bar despite other tables being open. The German woman working there seems quite annoyed I asked for a fork and had to ask someone else because she would not get me one. The place is expensive and the rolls are tiny. Super tiny by American standards. A few morsel bits on a plate and that's it. The chicken and pork yakitori is good but rolls are boring, And then at 9:30, they announce they are out of sushi rice and that's it. We are done. How do you run out of rice at a sushi place????? Three people with one little bottle of sake came to 87 Euro. I was still hungry and found a sandwich on the Hauptwache. Will not go here again.

Unagidon was unenjoyable; reason: burned eel Staff: not like in Japan, but for European enough Katsudon: meat too hard Offered sake: good taste and reasonable price

So far this is the best sushi I have ever tried in Frankfurt. Very good deal too. When you order sushi lunch menu, it comes with soup, tea, rice with seafood and a small appetizer. All yummy and cost only 14 euro. Decor is not necessarily uplifting but location is great. We managed to find a table at 12.40 but restaurant was already pretty full. Considering that they open at 12.30, it might be a good idea to make a reservation before you go.

Probably the most Japanese of all Japanese restaurants in Frankfurt. With the Korean sake. Because of the Japanese atmossphere and location, better than Mangetsu, even if they do not have as much variety. And why put the Uni on the menu if they never have it?
