Disappointing and plain
This has been excellent the last few times, but this time the quality of the food was not great. The entrees were plain, needed some better flavoring and/or sauces. Maybe this is caused by expandning the choices. Overall disappointing.

Greeted and seated promptly; Good lighting and vibe;Knowledgeable friendly server: Food was outstanding although a bit pricy(1 appetizer 2 entrees =$200 although being BYOB helps - Highly recommend for special occasions

5 star review, always. Best restaurant in Collingswood and great quality. Food is always delicious, waiting staff knows how to make customers happy. Highly recommend sitting at the chef counter if you can and talk with the chefs, they make the experience so pleasant!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food, friendly service, in a quaint Main Street downtown atmosphere.
AMAZING start to finish. Food was flavorful and different, new twists on old favorites. We shared a few small plates and split the chicken entree. Don't miss the wedge when in season! Mussels were notable too. Service was on point, perfect timing, never felt rushed and server was eager to help with choices. Atmosphere was comfortable and hip. I'd give this place six stars if I could. Take a stroll after dinner and check out the local shops and boutiques in this adorable small town.

Had an outstanding meal a few days after Thanksgiving at Hearthside. Staff was great, food was tremendous, and the atmosphere warm and convivial. The whole roasted bronzino was one of the best preparations of that fish I have ever had. And don;t miss the agnolotti! Highly recommended.

My husband and I dined here Saturday night and had a plethora of issues. We waited 20 minutes for a table (with a reservation) and then ultimately sat outside since they didnโt know when our table would be available. We waited another 10 minutes for a server to come over and then had to ask about specials instead of being greeted properly and told about them. The food was pretty good. My husband loved the pork chop but my chicken was very bland. What really shocked me was that we tried to order the special pasta of the day and were told a few minutes later that it had sold out. To my disbelief, a table of regulars across from us was gifted that same pasta 30 minutes later because โthey had extra!โ When I questioned the manager she said โThey found 2 portions.โ What a joke. Who โfindsโ pasta after it sells out? Hearthside has an heir about it as if they think you should be honored to eat there. Worst restaurant experience Iโve ver had. There are several restaurants in Collingswood with excellent food that appreciate all customers, not just their privileged regulars. Donโt waste your money or time on Hearthside.

Our chef's tasting on a busy Saturday night exceeded mine and my group's expectations, all of us having eaten here before. The food is actually underpriced at Hearthside considering the flavors, ingredients and perfect preparation. Their homemade sponge bread dipped in mussel juice is a meal unto itself. The waitstaff could've have been more attentive. Hearthside has worthy competitors in the area but reigns supreme.

The food our party of 4 ordered was extremely well seasoned and delicious. Ceviche and mussels were outstanding, yes, bread was large but soaked up the sauce. Salads were also great. One surprise- despite the pasta dishes being in the โ mediumโ dish category, and priced to match, the one we got was smaller than the small plate appetizers. Pork chops were delicious, although one was on the little overdone side. Black sea bass with vegetables was outstanding, even good the next day for lunch. Service was attentive, byob handled very well. I agree that it is overpriced, but we are finding that more common these days as good restaurants struggle to keep up and catch up.

Love the idea of the open kitchen which brings it into play with the dining room. You can see the chefs at work which is a wonderful experience.
All the dishes we ordered we shared between two couples and it was great to be able to do that. Some dishes were smaller than others but all were delicious with what we felt was an asian fushion twist for example including sliced chili peppers on the beef carpaccio which provided a nice surprise in the mouth. The pork chop was indeed cooked to perfection, soft and moist with only a hint of pink, that chop didn't last long.
Good attentive service without being overbearing we had a great evening.
Stylish Philadelphia center city restaurant in Collingswood, NJ
We finally were able to dine at this popular BYOB restaurant; even with reservations we waited in line outside until the doors opened at 5 pm. The dรฉcor is stylishly contemporary. The cooking kitchen is open for all to see and hear. Everything we ate was just a bit fresher, tastier and more special than an ordinary restaurant. For appetizers I had a fried green tomato with crab meat on top, my dinner partner had a ceviche and a generous tossed salad both of which he enjoyed. For the main course, he had a good-sized pork chop with veggies, I had the orecchiette with sausage, broccoli rabe and a bit of cheese--I skipped the long-hots. For my taste, the food was a little on the spicy side; my dining partner disagreed. We shared a panna cotta for dessert. Service was very good despite the crowd. Philadelphia prices but we averaged out on the BYOB and found on-street parking.

All I can really say about this restaurant is that the ambience and service were wonderful as is the BYOB. Our waiter was just wonderful. As far as the limited and over priced menu, I would say average at best. We ordered the mussels in coconut and Thai sauce which were eh at best with overly large pieces of focaccia bread. The kale salad was good but spicy. The branzino was good but for 76.00 I would have expected it to jump off the plate. The mango cake dessert tasted like a box cake. We won't be back anytime soon.

Service was lacking and overall attitude of staff was not accommodating. Food was decent but not as good as some of the other restaurants in the area.
Be the first to ReplyGreat quality and a safe and comfortable environment.
Continues to offer some of the best dishes and ambiance in the Philadelphia metropolitan. Pasta dishes are wonderful, and the chicken breast was well seasoned and baked. Service was very good. Mussels and sauce were excellent. Beef Wagyu carpaccio was delicious with lovely seasoning. 1/2 Chicken was tasty and succulent, but not as impressive as other dishes. Priced fairly
Be the first to ReplyConsistently excellent quality food that has now reopened.
Consistently excellent quality food that has now reopened. Muscles in coconut and Thai spice weโre just as tasty as always but the muscles were a little small. Braised pork chop was excellent I had a lovely smoky flavor. Half chicken with succulent and nicely cooked.
