New favourite definitely
I never quite count on finding a new favourite Japanese restaurant in London. Having dined in numerous japanese restaurants across many cities, this turns out to be one of the tops - the presentation is beautiful, food quality amazing and service pleasantly attentive without being intrusive (all staff were good but special shout out to Ryu!). Note though that lunch is served on weekends only, but dinner is available daily :) Location is only a short walk from London eye and National Theatre.
Be the first to ReplyStyle over substance?
This is an interesting one. Some great food that comes out of the kitchen, however concerned that style may have overtaken substance here. Huge Christmas tress on a serving board with your individual dishes on more then one occasion. Had the sake wine flight & our waiter unfortunately did not know anywhere near enough regarding the bottles served. Knowing where food/drink comes from & how it is produced is important to me. When spending ยฃ560 + 12.5% service charge (I refused to pay service charge) you expect better/more. Also havenโt seen this before but incorporated in your table reservation that you have to pay a deposit for is a service charge. 1. This was not clear to me 2. A service charge should be representative of the service received, how are you able to charge this before a guest is even seated? This most definitely seems wrong to me & leaves a bit of a bad taste.
Be the first to ReplyExquisite food, impeccable service!
We visited for a post theatre meal based on the reviews and it was even better than I'd envisaged. We had the 6 course taster and I had the sake wine flight with it. Couldn't recommend more highly! Top twp courses: the most perfect tempura scallop and Waygu beef but all were delicious!
Be the first to ReplyGood Choice for Westminster/South Bank
Had a 'reunion' dinner with an old friend and neighbour and her sons here a couple of days ago. We had a set 'taster' menu, which allowed us to talk and catch up all evening. Food was excellent, staff polite and attentive. Attractive surroundings. Nothing but praise for the restaurant. A bit hard to find, which of course isn't their fault. For anyone planning to go there, it's on the west side of County Hall, south of Westminster Bridge, just past the Marriott Hotel and to the left in a courtyard, with the restaurant plainly signed on the left side. (Hope that might help a few people pinpoint it.)
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely recommend to others and will return.
Brother and I order two bento boxes, lobster tempura and wagyu. Then dessert ice cream and coffees. Tempura is absolutely good, better than most I eat in Japan and Hong Kong. Wagyu delicious. Ice creams and coffees all nice. The place is clean and spacious, staff there polite.

I was very lucky to find this restaurant when I was looking for somewhere to have lunch while I waited for the river boat. I was welcomed by very friendly staff and seated in the comfortable restaurant. All the dishes were beautifully presented and freshly prepared with high quality ingredients - with this type of food it is not possible to disguise any shortcuts or economies. Service was prompt and efficient without making me feel rushed. I will definitely return to try their tasting menu one evening.
Be the first to ReplyWhy no Michelin Star ?
I had the six course tasting menu, wish now I had ordered the ten course as the food was exceptional.
Hannahโs should have a Michelin star, am sure they will soon.
Stylish, simple and the service and service was great.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough.
Will definitely be back next time I am in London
Best Japanese in London
From the presentation to the quality of food being served, Hannah is one of the best restaurant experiences in London. The service in particular was very impressive, with our server, Yuri being especially attentive as well as the chefs being incredibly welcoming.
The dishes themselves were not only beautifully and intentionally designed, but they each tasted amazing and are definitely some of the most memorable plates I have ever had. The seasoning for each was perfect and the little details truly tied the entire experience together.
As mentioned above the atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming, cultivating a very personal experience.
You get what you pay for at Hannah, and that would be exceptional quality and service.
a wonderful authentic japanese lunch experience
I went there with my teenage daughter for lunch. There were ala carte and bento boxes on the menu. We wanted to try the bento boxes. We were so amazed when our food arrived, so beautifully presented with all the trimmings and the taste was exquisite! What a wonderful experience. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The meal was the highlight of our day out London. And good value too. Great service and staff are friendly.

Be the first to Reply30 Hours in London (Lunch)
We were 2 couples having a couple of days in the Capital. Before our Dungeons tour we had booked Hannah Japanese as we are all sushi fans. Not realising just how empty the city would be we arrived in record time, checked in to our hotel and made it down to the restaurant. We arrived an hour early but this was no problem. We had already looked at the lunch menu and being familiar with Bento boxes, we were very happy when ours came to the table. All 4 of us ordered the sushi box (one Gluten free), ยฃ19 to include miso soup, side salad, sushi and sashimi....it was very good and excellent value for money.
The restaurant seated us at one of their very large tables, all socially distanced with excellent staff all wearing masks. Sanitiser on entry/exit.
Great food and service
First time out in central London for a very long time. Iโm glad to have had lunch here, very clean and definitely social distancing were kept between customers. Only bento sets for lunch at the moment but they were great, just enough food. Now Iโm ready for my little walk down by the Thames to Tate Britain.
Be the first to ReplyA rare find in the midst of COVID lockdown
We stumbled across this restaurant offering 50% off Japanese takeaway near St Thomas hospital on our daily exercise and decided to try it out for my husbandโs birthday. As a result we had a feast of prawn tempura, grilled salmon and sea bream on rice. They kindly gave us some green tea cake as a gift. Great find and nice to have something other than our lockdown fare. Well done to the chefs!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Japanese Food, Great Atmosphere
Hannah restaurant is located near the London Eye, and the outside is very understated (considering the area is very touristy). Once inside, you are treated to a wonderful Japanese atmosphere, great service, and really good food. The presentation of the food was awesome! The spider crab rice is served to you inside a still-hot crab shell (very cool looking), and the bento boxes include a ball of ice, with the pieces of sashimi on top of it. Be prepared to spend some money, for this is not a cheap restaurant. Highly recommended!

Utterly disappointed!
We had hoped for some great sushi in a great restaurant.
We got a table by a back door that they insisted on having open even though it was drafting not just a little bit but a lot. We asked to get moved. The new table had a draft also so not pleasant.
We came there for the food but it was awful and overpriced. We wonโt be back and you donโt need to go there.
Very understated Japanese restaurant
The food presentation and choice of ingredients show a lot of thoughts were put into the execution of this place. The presentation of the food was beautifully curated, e.g. the Spanish toro sashimi was placed on a rock on a plate that's inspired by Kyoto Gardens, with shiso leaves and other vegs.
The dish we enjoyed the most was the Crispy Skin Sea Bass. The sous chef said very hot oil was poured on to the skin repeatedly to make the scales pop, then charcoal-grilled to make it extra crispy. The fish remained moist and the skin was indeed super crispy. The artichoke puree came with it was beautifully done and sweet. The Spider Crab Rice was a little underwhelming for us.
We were delighted that we were able to have a great conversation with the Sous Chef, as the place wasn't so busy. She told us the background of the Head Chef and explained further on the choice of ingredients. She said the Head Chef started his cooking training when he was a teenager in Japan, worked in famous restaurants before having his own here in London.
It could get expensive but I truly appreciate the hard work of the chefs and the overall experience. This is not an ad, I just admire their dedication and passion in what they do. I wish they can change their lighting, use less warm lights so diners can take better photos lol
