Very sad to see that they have moved to Pearl Kai.
The only affordable, good hot pot place in town is gone.
Be the first to ReplyHaven't been to this place since their old location.
Was feeling under the weather today and remembered I used love their vegetable with chicken soup. The price has gone up since I went but the food is as I remembered nice and clean and healthy tasting. Love that they don't use MSG! Portions are generous. They serve Shabu Shabu for $29.99 a person which is buffet style. They also sell some Asian groceries and have an ATM conveniently located inside the restaurant. Sadly they will be moving to Pearl Kai in a couple of months.

I just visited Green Papaya for the first time, and found out that they'll be moving to the Pearl Kai Shopping Center in February 2024. I tried the cold noodle dish with a vegetable spring roll, which was okay. My friends, who had the pho, spoke highly of the broth. The service is quick and the owner is friendly. They also offer shabu shabu, something I want to try on my next visit before they relocate. The restaurant is quite spacious, but it seems they're currently using only half of the space, which is odd. The parking is free though the number of stalls is limited. Fortunately, the center where Green Papaya is located isn't too crowded, making it easy to find parking. I'm looking forward to returning soon, especially to experience their shabu shabu before they move.

I had Pho and spring rolls. They were delicious. The owner was the server and she was friendly and happy. The decor is sparse but clean. They had the original Saracha sauce for sale. Perfect. I can't find it anywhere! The prices are fair. Not far from the Waikiki craziness.
Be the first to ReplyThe chicken pho was almost unedible.
Chicken very dry and chewy. I think chicken out of a can would have been better. I don't understand the five start ratings for chicken pho at this restaurant.

Their chicken and rice is very good and also the pho is very appetizing and the employees are very nice
Be the first to ReplyTheir Spring Roll appetizer is my go to choice.
Crispy, tasty spring rolls, generous amounts of veggies to wrap with it in large lettuce leaves. The sauce completes it quite nicely. Love this dish.

Paid $80 for a mediocre meal AND there was MOLD in our tapioca pudding. We had already left the area when we opened it up to eat.. My husband took a few bites too. Just makes me wonder about the rest of the food quality. And the prices on the physical menu did not reflect the price we got on our receipt. Never going back there again.

It was not crowded on this Saturday around 12:30 PM. We ordered the papaya salad, spring rolls, grilled pork chop and oxtail soup. (Sorry no picture of the soup). This was my first time eating here so I asked Heidi what are some of the popular dishes. She replied "everything is good". She explained some of the items on the menu as the pictures did not always match up with some of the things I asked about. Anyway lunch was fine. Papaya salad is one of my favorites and their salad is delicious. The spring rolls were average and the pork chops were tasty. My Auntie had the soup and she said it was good. I also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee and that tasted yummy. It was very strong! Initially Heidi seemed a bit "rough around the edges" but by the end of our meal she was smiling and friendly. There is a small mini section of food items and spices you can purchase. She even shared a tip of mixing half and half of two of the instant coffees that she sells. Of course I purchased them to enjoy at home.

I've eaten/ordered here a few times, usually when I'm with vegan friends. It's decent place to get Thai food and it's BYOD (bring your own drAnk). There's plenty of parking in the lot. Bathrooms need a key outside the establishment. Restaurant seems clean... although their new hot pot station seems like the food should be covered for sanitary purposes. Plenty of seating and the staff is friendly enough. My last visit... I noticed prices were waaaaay up. A bowl of Tom Yum with Shrimp is $16.99?! It was a delicious bowl filled with a good amount of shrimp, but not for $16.99. My husband had the Pad Thai and he said he's had better. The Summer Shrimp Rolls were meh. However, the iced lemon tea is always good here. I'd want to try to shakes (if they're fresh), next time. Maybe next time we go with our vegan friends. Yelp 2022 Challenge: 13/40

Heidi the owner is very friendly and her food is good Vietnamese quality! I've been eating here for years and highly recommended this place! They're not at Makaloa anymore but are on Keeaumoku street next to the massage parlor
