First time here, I thought it was great.
We got the pancakes to share and they are extremely fluffy and the honey butter is pretty good. But has a touch of lemon to it which I did not particularly enjoy. The service was great, and the food came out pretty quickly. It is a small place. We sat outside but there were heat lamps. There is indoor seating but very small. Downside, the tables outside are very small.

Make sure you make a reservation otherwise there will be a 40 group wait list (actually). I love the mix of items you'll find in the menu with a heavy influence of American breakfast classics like pancakes, omelettes and breakfast sandwiches with something different! This is a place where you'll find the thickest pancakes, chicken katsu, matzo ball soup and really good cold brew all in one spot . I think it's a great representation of the area. I thought the food was presently nicely, loved the lemon butter on the pancakes and thought the chicken katsu sandwich was the best thing we ordered! Friendly staff and try to get indoor seating if possible because the smells from the outside world are not appetizing on a hot day. Iykyk!

I came here on a weekday for dinner and was able to be seated right away. We had the Thai Cobb Salad, Chicken Katsu Club and Honey Butter Pancakes. Everything was really delicious and the pancakes were perfect. We ordered the pancakes with the berry compote but I think next time I'd do without. The pancakes and syrup were super sweet so the berries bring in a bit of a tart flavor. Since we had so much food we weren't able to get the the pancakes very quickly so the berries seemed to make the crisp pancakes get a bit soggy.

Golden Diner was everything I had hoped for and more!!! The host was fantastic, the moment we got there, she was able to seat us, we did go on a Tuesday afternoon. The food! The food was marvelous! If it's only two people, do yourself a favor get only one order of pancakes, my son and I got two orders of pancakes, I could only eat a quarter The pancakes were so big and fluffy. The place was full but still very cozy and chill!

OMGOODNESS these pancakes are TO!! DIE!! FOR!!!!!! And they're WORTH THE HYPE! First time here & the restaurant as well as the food DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The pancakes came out piping HOT & slathered in that DELICIOUSLY lemon butter & syrup...CHEF'S KISS
Be the first to ReplyI cannot speak highly enough about this restaurant.
Every single dish was delicious and worth the hype. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to try it! I came in on a Monday afternoon and was immediately seated inside. The service was quick and efficient, and the waiters were super friendly. The food was truly immaculate. The Honey Butter Pancakes are probably the best stack of pancakes I've ever had. They were served piping hot, fluffy, with the most delicious syrup on top. I loved the addition of the lemon zest - it added a slight freshness to the rest of the dish. I could not stop talking about these pancakes for the rest of the day. If you visit Golden Diner, you must try these heavenly pancakes! The Chicken Club Katsu was also a phenomenal dish. The bread was light and fluffy, the red cabbage slaw was tangy, and the chicken cutlet itself was fried to perfection. Another must try if you visit. Lastly, the Thai Tea Tres Leches Cake was such a creative take, and you could definitely taste the Thai Tea flavor. The chantilly cream on top was light enough that it did not overpower the actual cake. I loved the flavor so much and appreciated how the cake remained fluffy. The store interior was welcoming and had a vintage style. It is a rather small restaurant, but there was also outdoor seating. I look forward to coming back and trying even more of Golden Diner's delicious food!

These pancakes are SCRUMPTIOUS!!! Don't listen to the haters that say it's not worth it they're liars. I personally don't like berry puree so I got it without and they were delicious. Also they have a great cup of coffee. Advice: book a reservation on resy! The outdoor seating is snug but it's heated so you don't have to worry about being chilly:)

this viral joint lives up to the hype -- SOOO many good options on the menu but i had to try the famous honey butter pancakes & chinatown egg sando on scallion milk bun. pancakes were so decadent, swimming in sauce and deliciously cakey on the inside. sandwich was also fantastic, the hashbrown really makes the whole thing shine! id happily play the reservation game to try other things on this menu.
Be the first to ReplyAfter hearing so much hype about Golden Dinner, we decided
After hearing so much hype about Golden Dinner, we decided to go on a Saturday morning when it opens. We arrived at around 10:10am and there was already a line outside the door of around 15 people. There isn't a lot of seating indoors (bar seating, and a few tables of 2), and we didn't want to sit outdoors in the cold, so we were put on the waiting list. Luckily, we only had to wait around 30-35min before we were notified that a table was being cleaned. We ordered some recommendations. Chinatown Egg and Cheese Sando ($13) was made with scrambled eggs, American cheese, hash brown patty, on a sesame scallion milk bun. The eggs were soft and fluffy. Hash brown was crispy. I wish the scallion flavor was more prominent in the bun though. Honey Butter Pancake ($15) included two fluffy pancakes served with honey maple butter, and the option to have a berry compote for an additional $4. Against popular opinion, I wasn't impressed by the pancakes. They felt rather heavy, and I didn't want to eat more than a few bites. Chicken Katsu Club ($19) included chicken cutlet, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red cabbage slaw, and katsu sauce. This was great! There were 3 layers of bread, so it held together well despite having a lot inside. The tanginess of the slaw complimented the meat well. This was my favorite of what we ordered. Thai Tea Tres Leches Cake ($11) was topped with Chantilly cream, toasted coconuts, and lime zest. Very moist. The staff member outside seating people was very friendly, but we didn't have too much interaction with our waitress other than just taking our order and getting the check. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, but I wouldn't say all the popular/recommended items are worth the hype. I would like the try the Golden cheeseburger and Sam's tuna melt the next time we come here though.

Small but cozy little diner that has amazing brunch/breakfast options! No reservations unfortunately, it is first come first serve. Luckily we were able to nab a table in under 15 minutes. Parking in the lower Manhattan area is terrible! You have been warned :) We got a corner table that was right next to the kitchen so we saw all the food and dirty dishes coming in and out. The place was quite packed for a Sunday and there was only 10 tables give or take. We ordered the honey butter pancakes and the Chinatown egg sando. The Chinatown egg sando is just like your typical bacon and egg sandwich. The honey butter pancakes had blueberries on top and was super fluffy which was to die for ! We also ordered the chicken katsu club sandwich but could have done without it. They only have regular coffee to serve which was ok. Wish they had more selections. One oopsie was that the waiter was rushing and he accidentally spilled water all over my lap. Thankfully it was just water and not coffee! Service was decent, they were super busy understandably but they were attentive and didn't make us wait long to order or to get the bill. Will come back again but maybe on a weekday?
Be the first to ReplyCame here for brunch, and it was great.
This place combines old school diner vibes with New School, Asian influences and is quite the example of what I love about New York City restaurants conceptually.HONEY BUTTER PANCAKES *** The texture of these were so good that it's going to make my personal list of New York City's best pancakes. It is soft, fluffy, and slightly crumbly. You can add fruit which I enjoyed but pushed it to the sweeter side. The honey butter, however, is the star of the show and gives this rich depth with a slight zest that really brings it to the next level.TIP: ask for the fruit on the side so that you can add as much as you want depending on how sweet you find it.CHICKEN KATSU CLUB - I would say that this was good and especially if you really like chicken Katsu. I think that if you're whatever about it, then this might just be OK for you. It is surprisingly veggie packed, but is still quite a large sandwich and it does not skip on the meat at all.HASHBROWN EGG AND CHEESE SANDWICH W SCALLION BUN - probably my preferred savory item of what we got. They use a Chinese scallion bun, which is very reminiscent of the buns I ate growing up from Chinese bakeries. The eggs were deliciously velvety and cheesy, the hashbrowns crispy and salty. Shout out to our hostess, who did a great job handling a packed restaurant, all by her self!
Be the first to ReplyCame here on a Sunday and had to wait 30 mins for a table.
We ordered the egg and cheese sando and the omelet. Both were very good, but the egg n cheese sando was the highlight imo. Will be going back to have it again
Be the first to ReplyThis is a quaint, cute hole in the wall diner.
The servers are extremely friendly and the golden pancakes melt in your mouth. It is worth the longer trek to the edge of Manhattan to eat at Golden Diner!
Be the first to Replygreat food, nicely sized plates.
the place is cute and plays "cool" music on top of everything else. i like it a lots
Be the first to ReplyThis place doesn't need any further advertising as it is
This place doesn't need any further advertising as it is packed nearly all he time -- but deservedly. Really charming tiny spot underneath a rather loud (hilariously so if you are sitting in one of the outdoor cabins) elevated train station with quirky pan-cultural elevated diner food. The Burger I had was absolutely perfect: the platonic ideal of a cheeseburger. I went with a friend, and we split this and the vegan cobb salad and gobbled both right up, though the novelty of vegan bleu cheese sort of wore of after a while. But the burger is one of the best in the city--perfectly cooked, juicy, great bun, and perfect proportions of meat to bread to sauces (they use a korean mayo laced with I believe gochugang that was brilliant) -- over all I am a big fan.

It was the place to go for a St Pats day brunch or any day but on St Pats you might have a brew, among those on tap that day, a milk stout! The breakfast menu offered eggs in many ways including in a breakfast burrito, wrapped just like a burrito at your fave Mex place. A robust slice of multigrain bread came with my classic breakfast special and the potatoes it came with/ they serve are bite size hashbrowns. A couple of unique side items: the matcha coffee cake is a must try, it was warm, rich green, just the right amount of sweet. The pickled cabbage is also available on the side and came on a nicely stacked chicken sandwich the Birthday girl enjoyed; notably that bread fit for the club sandwich, thin layers. Credit to the service; this place is busy and they work it assuring any allergy accommodations as well. It is a cozy place maybe 10 tables inside in a row. Make reservations! The outside, seating looked nice as the sun was shining on them, and also steadily full, albeit you might need ear plugs as this part of New York carries the sound burden from the transit bridges overhead. Since it is Chinatown, on nearby, Broadway, directly under the bridges, the local street, vendors, were selling a host of interesting items but I couldn't tell you what they were & could not hear the vendor's explanation. The Golden Diner is a beacon for eaters; I think it's trendy because I noticed one gent come in & snap some photos before he sat down & another couple buying T-shirts! Make a reservation!

Came here for brunch on the weekend and waited 50 minutes for a table for 2.The hostess was fantastic, I'm not sure how she handles what seemed to be a growing and never ending line of customers. Her wait time estimate was spot on and she even gave us recommendations on where to go nearby while we waited. The food was overall tasty and very unique twists on classic diner food. The honey butter pancakes were delicious but I highly recommend sharing these as they're very sweet. I felt that the katsu chicken club was OK. The breakfast sandwich was delicious. The glass of orange juice was not an appropriate size for an adult, kind of a waste of $5.Our waitress was a little rude and rolled her eyes at us when we changed our mind about adding fries to our order lol. Overall recommend!

Went to the dinner on suggestion from a friend and it was average. The dinner doesn't have too much infusion from different cuisines. I would also say it was relatively expensive for a dinner. I had a large party so we sat outside - the sun was in our eyes and the train went by frequently. Service was attentive, but overall the experience was nothing special.

I definitely need to go again for the pancakes!! Everything I had was amazing and I'd recommend to everyone. I'd recommend trying to get a reservation because we didn't have one and were seated outside. It definitely looked more fun inside Tres leches 5/5A unique twist on your traditional tres leches, this one is soaked in Thai tea and has coconuty flavors to it. It was served first which I didn't mind at allChicken katsu 5/5Super filling and delicious. The bread paired so well with the contents. Perfect balance of savory and fresh Burger with house fries 5/5Those fries were worth the extra charge honestly. Perfect crisp to them. The burger was really good and I loved the freshness that the veggies added

A fun and intimate diner with great food! Located in the cut of chinatown, its truly a gem! Worth setting out too and having some pancakes and cocktails!

Had the most unbelievable meal at Golden Diner! Everything we ordered was flavorful, yummy and the atmosphere is cozy. Honestly one of the best burgers I've had and the pancake dessert went fast! Tuna melt was also so soo good. We had the best time and Chef Sam Yoo took the time to come out and chat. Love it! Must go!

The pAncakes slayed so hard I mopped all of it and all it's honey butter berry compote goodness. The katsu club and egg sando also slapped me across the face. You should try this place.

We had a 45 minute wait but the honey butter pancakes made up for it; my boyfriend was still salivating and dreaming about them long after we left the restaurant lol. I wasn't a big fan of the wings; there's not a lot of meat on them and they were a little hard to chew.
Be the first to ReplySuper busy and limited seating.
Get there early or prepare to wait. Worth it. Best egg sandwich we have ever had. Amazing simple food. Good coffee. Definitely going back.
