Nothing special
The place is exceptionally small. Although I tried a mezcal cocktail, it was merely average, and I've enjoyed much better ones elsewhere. The music seemed subpar. Overall, it didn't live up to the hype.

The whole concept of the hidden speakeasy was a lot of fun. We were hanging around the Cosmo on a Thursday afternoon and we wanted to check out the hidden spots. It was great that the Ghost Donkey opens at 4. (I think the barbershop and ski lodge open at 6 pm and that interfered with other plans.) We got there right at 4 pm (and stayed about an hour). The bar is small and fits about 30 folks. It was quite busy when it opened. Quite a few folks walked in, could not find a seat and left. Signature drinks were very good. I love that smoky flavor. I had the Mezcal old fashioned and it was great. The ladies loved the El Espresso. (A great way to fire up for a long night!)

If it's a secret, I want in. If it's mezcal, I want in. If it's a cocktail, likely I want in. Combine all three of these and add in a ghost donkey surveying the whole scene, then, oh man, I've arrived where I want to be. I've been lucky enough to find/wander into a few of the "secret" speakeasies in Vegas...this one was only secret in that the entrance was tucked away in the back of the small food court area in the Cosmopolitan...but otherwise there was no gatekeeper or password...you just open the door and you're in. (it's also possible I was there at a lucky time when it was mostly full but not so busy that I needed to wait to find a seat or order.) The atmosphere is cool. I sat near the ghost donkey which is almost all I've ever needed out of any experience. I'm a fan of Mezcal and also of bourbon-based drinks like a Manhattan...so the mezcal-based "Smoked Corn and Coconut Manhattan" seemed like it would be a dream. And it kind of was. Perfectly mixed...familiar flavors but really unlike anything I've had before. I really liked it. My big plan was to head off to another resort to try a NYC slice but my server clued me into another secret of the Cosmopolitan, Secret Pizza, which was about a two-minute walk from Ghost Donkey. So basically what I'm saying is I'm moving to the Cosmopolitan to live there forever, drinking in Ghost Donkey and eating Secret Pizza. This was a really fun place to be and drink and helped round out a really fun night in Vegas.

Ghost Donkey is a pretty well hidden bar in The Cosmopolitan. If you need help finding it, there are lots of people who have already posted online how to find it. Vibe is cool, space is tight, drinks are fire (some literally) and mostly tequila-based, food is good. My favorite of the hidden bars we tried.
Be the first to ReplyGo for the drinks but DO NOT order food here.
Ghost Donkey is speakeasy teguila bar hidden in the Block 16 food court of the Cosmopolitan. The ambiance and vibes are super cool inside this small bar. They have a decent selection of specialty craft cocktails all containing either tegula or mezcal. They also have a very well-stocked bar with all sorts of agave spirits. Those are the pros of Ghost Donkey now here is the con: DO NOT order any food here. The chips were cold and stale and since the chips come in every bite they serve (chips and dips, nachos, etc.) skip the food altogether here. Also, for people with allergies stay away from this place. We ordered the queso fundido and the menu listed the ingredients as monterey jack cheese, chorizo, jalapenos, and pablano. When the dish arrived it had cilantro on it. We informed the staff that we had a cilantro allergy and they were quick to fix this for us and we ordered the steak and black bean nachos instead. Well, the nachos came out with cilantro on them and again it wasn't listed on the menu. The first time was an honest mistake but the second time is the bartenders for not caring, not trying, and not taking pride in their work. We paid our tab and left. Go for the vibe and drinks but skip the food here.

This place is dark and small with tight seating. That being said. Yum! We got the steak and bean nachos and the chips and salsa trio and both were delicious! Some of the best nachos I’ve ever had. We got an espresso martini, a Paloma, and a flight of three mezcals- all were really good. The flight came out with four salts and an assortment of citrus and fruit. I would definitely go back. It’s on the second floor in the food court back between Hattie B’s and Lardo’s, if I remember correctly.
Be the first to ReplyTiny, Tequila Speakeasy
A hidden speakeasy in the Cosmo, we sought this out as the fun experience that it was. However, this place is VERY small. The night we went there, there were clearly more than the stated capacity in that tiny room, and I had to leave after a little bit to get some air outside. If you love tequila or mezcal, and aren't claustrophobic, this will be your place. Sadly, I don't meet either of those criteria, so I don't see a return trip in my future.
Be the first to ReplyGreat hidden speakeasy !
If you enjoy tequila and mezcal this is the place to come. They do have other drinks. Service is great! Gets busy so at times have a little patience while they are crafting up drinks!

Very cool little speak easy in the Cosmopolitan. Look for it on the second floor in the food court. It can be difficult to find; that's part of the charm. I HIGHLY recommend the mezcal old fashion. The head bartender and servers are prompt, serving up excellent cocktails. I've been there twice. There are no TVs so that makes folks happy to chat and have conversations. Great place to mix in a fun spot.
Be the first to ReplySmall but packs a punch
Ghost Donkey is easy to find, if you know where to look. *Wink* We had a great time grabbing tequila/mezcal based drinks at this hidden gem. I'm not going to disclose where exactly it's located inside the Cosmopolitan because the fun part is finding it yourself. The service was great even though the space was packed like sardines in a tin. Yes, this bar is super tiny, but still felt comfortable and the vibes were definitely popping. We each ordered a mezcal old fashioned & a La Paloma (pretty standard cocktails, nothing fancy). They were both great. I would definitely recommend this place (if you can find it). This is going on "must go every time I'm in Vegas" list.

It is great adventure bar. A must visit. Good Luck We enjoyed the atmosphere and only 27 person capacity Just an awesome time
Be the first to ReplyFind the door, peek inside, then go to The Chandelier
The best part of the experience was the hunt to find it. We opened the door and it was so tiny & packed inside. We arrived at approx 6pm. The max occupancy sign by the door said 27, and there were definitely more than 27 people in there. Cool concept, but a fail. The Chandelier is a much better option for vibe and experience.
Be the first to ReplyDon't waste your time or money! HORRIBLE!!!
This was our first visit to the Ghost Donkey and what a disappointment from the very beginning! They have a sign on the door saying they open at 4 pm and we got there about 5 mins before so we waited outside. One of the employees came out and was really rude and said "we aren't open until 4". We knew that as that was why we were waiting to go inside. When 4 pm rolled around and we finally went inside the same employee yelled "we still aren't open". Nothing was going on and the 2 employees were laughing and clearly having a personal conversation but we went back outside to wait more. About 10 mins later they finally "opened". We go in and the place is cool to look at but VERY small inside. There were 4 of us and we each ordered a different drink off the menu; however, the drinks all tasted exactly the same and were undrinkable! Literally could not drink them as they tasted like chemicals. The employee that was rude to us from the start was the bartender and continued being rude to us the whole time and we were the only ones in there for the first 15 mins. We wasted $80 on drinks as they were disgusting and just left to go get a good drink elsewhere. We will never go back and would never recommend this place to our worst enemy. The employees need to learn customer service as well as how to make drinks properly. Just a horrible experience.
Be the first to ReplyCool name, cool small room
We came here for a little hole in the wall place in the cosmopolitan. Just try something different. That describes this place exactly, just a little different. Cool vibes, friendly bartenders, unusual cocktails that's unique, yeah that's the word.
Be the first to ReplyTequila speakeasy
Small friendly bar with great drinks and snacks. Enjoyed talking to the bartenders and other customers.
Be the first to ReplySmall but a cool place to have a drink
It was a cool little bar and the drinks were really interesting and delicious. It is a very small area with about 20 seats or so but really fun and a good vibe.
Be the first to ReplyAlways a fun time
Was on a business trip in Vegas and stopped in for drinks. I miss their location in NY! I am so happy I was able to experience Ghost Donkey in Vegas.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite bars in Las Vegas
I have several caveats for a great bar. First, it must be on the smaller side with appreciative drinkers. It also must not be too loud or obnoxious. It also helps to have a little kitsch. Finally, the cocktails must warrant my repeat business. Ghost Donkey meets all four requirements. The mezcal old fashioned and mezcal Negroni are excellent. It is a bit tricky to find, and it is small and not loud and obnoxious. It is just a gem of a concept.
Be the first to ReplyGreat hidden bar!
This is so worth finding! Cool decor, fantastic drinks! It's busy and small but feels like you're in on a secret. I had the Mushroom Margarita, that was the best of our drinks. We also had the Pistolero, Burro Tropical and Stealth Margarita (a bit cucumbery for our taste).
Be the first to ReplyMezcal Secret Fun Bar
We love Mezcal , so to go to a mezcal speakeasy was super fun! The bartenders were great..I think Kelly was the name of our favorite. Go to the Ghost Donkey .
Be the first to ReplyBartenders are not always very attentive, but good drinks make up for it
Inexperienced friends and travelers may never find this place. But those in the know, recognize where it is located. One of the better speakeasy type places, in my opinion, but that is probably because I am more inclined to like a tequila / mezcal cocktail. I have been many times and I always forget that they have food. It always looks amazing. The drinks are very good. There tends to be lots of lookie loos because people know it is there, open the door, peek in, and then think it is a private party or something to that effect. Seating is limited, so I have always stood. But everyone enjoyed their drink and the vibe.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service ruined it for us
The idea of finding this hidden bar and recommendations for the drinks brought us in, but the horrible service will keep us from coming back. The mezcal cocktails were, indeed, unique and flavorful once we got them, but watching the servers have their own little party while ignoring customers was just too frustrating.
Be the first to ReplyGreat drinks and staff not to be missed!
My husband and I visited Ghost Donkey twice on our last trip to Vegas and since the reopening post covid. We were in love with this little secret gem from the first time it opened up in 2019. The drinks are phenomenal! On our first visit in 2019 we met Julio, the bartender and it was amazing watching him work mixing those drinks that were so very good. Then with the reopening this year we went back and were looking forward to seeing him again and having those drinks but as it turns out that was his day off and that’s when we met Eva. Not only were those drinks by Eva amazing I don’t think I could choose a favorite if I had to!
I must say these two are truly top notch mixologist and have their craft mastered down to a tee. I am so glad we went back the second day and to our surprise both of them we’re working! Not only were the drinks awesome but watching the two of them working in tandem was a true treat. They were both so knowledgeable about the type of tequilas that the bar had to offer they truly know the product of Mezcal and know how to use it. Other tequila bars will just tell you Mezcal is “smoky tequila” and that’s it here’s your drink. If you should have the opportunity to visit Ghost Donkey at the Cosmopolitan I hope these two are working there when you go, you would be the lucky to have them tag team and make you awesome drinks that taste amazing and look so pretty. Don’t be fooled into thinking there’s no alcohol in them and that they are just tasty flashy drinks because they much more than that. They are an amazing work of art that they’ve prepared for you that not only look and taste great but have the perfect amount of tequila that is not too strong, but strong enough!
Not convinced... So nice venue,
Not convinced...
So nice venue, interesting cocktail menu.
But as someone who is into good cocktails, Mexcal and Tequila- there was a very uninterested staff-which frankly if I am paying $18.00 per cocktail, I want friendly information and at least some kind of hospitality...
Ok, it’s the new kid in town - and Auckland gets off on that kind of thing... But your mushroom Margarita sucked big time, taste and looks wise.
Perhaps drop the w@nk aspect- and you have a cool destination with longevity on your hands.
I’ll come back in a while .
This place is AMAZING!
My friend is a huge Tequila fan, so we heard about this place and had to find it and check it out. So glad that we did! Great relaxing atmosphere, and stroooong drinks! The truffle Nachos were absurdly delicious.
We cannot wait to come back to this place!
