Gary Danko San Francisco Reviews
This was one of the best meals and experience that I've had
This was one of the best meals and experience that I've had ever, starting with a welcoming service, great timing for every course, with a sommelier really knowledgeable and willing to give you an broad explanation about the pairings. The music, room temperature and ambiance are also fantastic. It was delightful and unforgettable dinner.
Great Evening
We have been here a few times and always enjoy our evening. This time we came for an anniversary and it was special. Great food. Great Service. No complaints about the most important elements of a restaurant. My only small issue (and cause for four rather than five stars) is the proximity of the tables. There were two tables on either side that were extremely close so that we had to listen to the conversations of both parties all night. Not perfect for an anniversary situation.
our experience at gary danko was amazing and so special!
our experience at gary danko was amazing and so special! everything the staff helped us with was very thoughtful and the service was amazing although we did have to wait an extra half an hour past our reservation time. they worked around my boyfriend's allergies and also sent us some complimentary small bites for having to wait. the restaurant was beautiful with the floral decorations, and the tables were set up nicely and not too dimly lit. as for the food, I'm extremely impressed with how perfectly crafted each of the dishes were. all the flavors worked wonderfully. we ordered 8 dishes between the two of us, and it ended up being the perfect amount of food: buckwheat blini with smoked salmon and caviar: this was amazing. the freshness from the salmon combined with the creamy caviar was the perfect pairing on top of the blini. I would 100% recommend this! beef tartare: the beef was tender and great with the mousse/sauce it came with. risotto with lobster: absolutely delicious, everything is cooked perfectly! definitely recommend lobster bisque: had a nice rich broth, but nothing too special. seared scallops: best scallops I've had- they were perfectly cooked and came with an amazing sauce. must order! lemon pepper duck breast: duck was very tender and delicious, would order this again too branzini: the fish itself was pretty standard with a nice crispy skin, but the sauce it came in hit it out of the park chocolate souffle: amazing presentation and was so fluffy and delicious! must order. french toast: this was a thick french toast that came with a brioche ice cream and apple compote. it was good but recommend souffle more! overall, the fine dining experience we had was wonderful- we were there for more than three hours. it was definitely a splurge but I think worth it for once in a while!

The food was delicious, bursting with flavors and beautifully presented. However, it felt overly priced for the overall dining experience, leaving me questioning if it was truly worth the steep cost.
Still A Star
Over 7 years since my last visit and this wonderful restaurant still does not disappoint. All the elements - service, ambiance, meal - were harmoniously excellent. In particular, my filet and chocolate soufflรฉ were both amongst the best I have ever had. This is now my official "Go To" in San Francisco.

With or without a Michelin Star, this place still offers an overall great dining experience. One thing that has not change it finding parking, but expand a few blocks and it'll be easier. Gary Danko has one of the best Risotto, and their lobster salad is beautifully crafted. For their meat their duck is excellent (although the other diners in our tables, their duck disk came out slight different.) Ambiance is good but more on the noisy side and they do offer lights for their menus. Wait staff was attentive and offered direction to the nearest open restroom (somehow they knew). But no matter how hard we try we couldn't get our order taker to smile.
Service was above and beyond!! So friendly and very chill.
Not overbearing, but still perfectly attentive. Food was incredible.. the smoked salmon canopy was the best bite of the evening, which was a gift from the chef for booking with Amex. Do yourself a favor, and book with your Amex!! Decor was old school, warm, dim light and cozy. Had a 10/10 experience here. Completely exceeded my expectations. 100% recommended.
Had an incredible first time here.
We just walked in and sat at the bar. I believe his name was Matt? He was incredibly friendly and social with us. Food was much better than I anticipated!! Don't skip out on the French toast dessert so delicious!!!!

French Classic Intimate Ambiance
We've been meaning to come here for a while and finally made the leap. So glad we did! We figured the only way to better understand San Francisco's culinary fine dining history was to trace it right back near the start. Chef Gary Danko was among the early wave of James Beard Award winning chefs in San Francisco and later became part of the first generation of Michelin-starred chefs in the city once the Michelin Guide began rating San Francisco restaurants. I've read some Yelp reviews calling his food "old school". After our experience there, I'd say it's more of a throwback to the golden age of fine dining. You won't find trendy hyper-local experimental cuisine with designer eatable floral pedals in mini Japanese pottery and expensive foam that pretends to be flavor. Instead you'll find a rolling cheese cart, white tablecloths, impeccable service and sauces that use classic French techniques (bรฉarnaise, fumets, veloutรฉs). All paying homage to classic French cooking. The menu offers 3, 4, or 5-course prixโfixe menu with ample choices in each category. We chose the 3 and 4. We enjoyed every dish. Stand Outs: Roast Lobster with Potato Purรฉe, Edamame, Peas, Asparagus, and Tarragon Jus - Tender lobster, nicely seasoned and comforting potato purรฉe and velvety tarragon jus. The Glazed Oysters with Osetra Caviar. So good! I could've eaten 3 more. Plump perfectly cooked oysters topped with a generous amount of Osetra caviar nestled in a silky leek fondue and a light lettuce cream. Buttery but not rich and with a wonderful briny ocean finish. Filet of Beef with Potato Gratin, King Trumpet Mushrooms. Tender and juicy that paired perfectly with the bone marrow bรฉarnaise. The Horseradish Crusted Salmon: We had questions - how is a "horseradish" crust so airy and fluffy? Then we consulted with our server who spilled the beans. It's the Egg Whites folded in with the horseradish. Add a tangy grain mustard sauce to balance the rich salmon, and you've got an old-school French combo. IMHO, in today's flavor landscape, mustard doesn't get enough love. Let's talk dessert!! Pastry Chef Killian Guillotin grew up in Brittany, France, and cut his teeth in top French kitchens before sharing his magic here. The Baked Chocolate Soufflรฉ with two sauces. Light as a cloud with just enough rich-sweetness to say dessert's in the house. And don't get me started with the vanilla bean crรจme anglaise and Belgian chocolate sauces. Worth every calorie!! Is Gary Danko old school? Maybe. But in the way your favorite vintage wine is old. Complex, full bodies, and full of finesse . Happy Eating!!

Gary Danko will always be special to me.
5 gourmet courses that you can personally choose from? Sign me up!! You can opt for 3 or 4 courses as well, but go big or go home! I have yet to try a dish that was not up to their Michelin standards. I've gotten and do recommend: - Signature Buckwheat Blini Caviar Service; the blini here is so good! It's beautifully toasted and absorbs the creme fraiche and caviar delightfully. - Glazed Oysters with Osetra Caviar, Leek Fondue, Zucchini Pearls, and Lettuce Cream; a MUST for caviar lovers! - Risotto with Lobster, Rock Shrimp, Shimeji Mushrooms, and Seasonal Vegetables - Seared Scallops; best scallops I've ever had. Perfect consistency. - Roast Lobster with Potato Purรฉe - Lemon Pepper Duck Breast with Duck Hash, Celery Root Purรฉe, Bacon Braised Endive, and Rhubarb Compote - Filet of Beef with Potato Gratin, King Trumpet Mushrooms, and Bone Marrow Bearnaise - Baked Chocolate Soufflรฉ Service is fine although not top-of-the-line; they could also be more proactive with the table crumb sweeping service, but not the biggest deal. The atmosphere is dimly lit; the interior kind of reminds me of HOPR. Overall, I highly recommend Gary Danko's for an upscale and fulfilling experience that won't entirely break your bank.

Thank you to our server Jake for giving us the best expereince by being attentive to us. The food and price is 8/10. The place is cozy and we were relaxed while dining with our friends.
Fine dining but a bit disappointed
Third visit to Gary Danko over a period of a dozen years or so. The first two visits were culinary wonders. This visit was great but not spectacular. The ambiance and service is world class - amazing. We each had three courses mealโฆeach had something different to try six dishes. All were inventive and tasty. I guess I was looking to be โwowedโโฆbut all fell short of that. Perhaps that is my fault - not the restaurantโs. If price is a concernโฆdonโt t go here - it is expensive (dinner, a couple of glasses of wine & tip = $500). I have no qualms about paying for fine diningโฆI do think the wine menu pricing is excessive.
One of the best dining experiences in the US!!
Service top 5 of my life! Food top 5 of my life! Wine list outstanding as well as by glass recommendations ! Restaurant is absolutely beautiful! Top 3 meals of my life! Must haves Duck Beef filet Caviar Scallops
One of San Fransisco's Best!
My family and I were excited to book a dinner reservation at Gary Danko during our recent trip to San Fransisco. We reserved our table via Open Table. From the moment we entered the restaraunt we were greeted with friendly faces and staff eager to meet our every need. They offer a tasting menu or the option to select your own 3 course, 4 course or 5 course meal. We opted for the 3 course option since we had our two young boys with us. For our first course, we enjoyed the Beef Tartare and Seared Ahi Tuna. Both were exceptional dishes. We had the Branzini and Salmon as our second course. My husband sampled my son's salmon and stated it was as good as some of the dishes we have enjoyed at Le Bernardin's in NYC. For dessert we enjoyed the Profiteroles with ice cream, Chocolate Soufflรฉ with Two Sauces, the Trio of Ice Cream with Cookies and the Trio of Sorbet with cookies. All desserts were delcious while the Profiteroles, ice cream and sorbet were our favorites. Our family agrees, Gary Danko will be a regular dinner destination when visiting San Fransisco.
Amazing!
Best restaurant in the world. The service is absolutely fantastic and the food is surreal. No detail overlooked. Couldn't possibly be better!
Fabulous dining experience!
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Gary Danko! Beautiful, luxurious atmosphere. They offer a 3, 4 and 5 course dinner pre-fixe with about 5-8 options per course. We opted for a 4 course which included an appetizer, seafood, meat and a cheese course. Everything was wonderful. Highlights included lobster risotto which was the appetizer, lobster for seafood entree, branzino, duck and quail. Gary Danko is one of the few restaurants that offer a cheese cart wheeled to your table. They had about 20 cheese selections which was awesome. Service was very professional and friendly. Highly recommend!

My cousin and I celebrated my birthday here back in April, and it was absolutely delightful! The entire experience at Gary Danko exceeded our expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, patiently answering all our questions and ensuring we had a fantastic evening. We made reservations for 5:30 PM on a Monday evening at this restaurant. Upon arrival, the atmosphere was quite relaxed as it wasn't too crowded. The restaurant had a cozy, dimly lit ambiance, which set a nice tone for our dining experience. We decided on the 3-course menu priced at $122 per person. Let me tell you, every bite was worth it! One of the standout dishes for me was the appetizer, risotto with lobster. I've had risotto before, but none compared to the rich flavors and perfect texture of what Gary Danko served. Another favorite of mine was the Branzini with fennel puree, nicoise olives, pepper chermoula, and saffron orange emulsion--a mouthwatering combination that left a lasting impression. Since it was my birthday, they surprised us with a decadent chocolate cake and a selection of small pastries. We enjoyed them thoroughly at the restaurant and even took some pastries home. When we opened the box later that night, they had thoughtfully replaced the pastries with fresh ones--a lovely gesture that truly made the occasion special. Overall, Gary Danko delivered not just a meal, but a memorable culinary experience. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or simply indulge in exceptional food and service. Can't wait to return!
I had pined over going here for 10 years.
I finally got to for my birthday with my kiddo. Talk about above and beyond. Im a foodie and have been to tons of places. This place blew my mind. The attention to detail brought tears to my eyes to make my birthday so damn special. Because I have some messed up food allergies (latex component foods) - I have to be really careful where I eat. Not everyone understands this allergy nor takes it seriously. GD blew my mind. I got calls to make sure they not only understood my allergy to the fullest, but that I would enjoy a true GD experience. I wish I could give them 10 stars!!! Food - 10 out of 10 Staff - 10 out of 10 Restaurant - 10 out of 10 Choices in drinks - 10 out of 10! I was so happy they even had our favorite champagne from France - Ruinart Brut Rose Sometimes you want to be in a magic bubble of food, drink and amazing company and they truly helped me succeed in this. All the love to you all at Gary Danko! I'll be back real soon.
Beautiful restaurant with top notch service.
I stopped by for the chocolate souffle and was not disappointed. They also provided a dessert amuse bouche and a cake to take home. The bill for this spectacular dessert with taxes and tip was close to $50.

A birthday dinner for a couple of friends who share the exact bday. I refuse to turn the flash on for food pics when the whole room is dark so forgive me. Or don't. The food here is classic and we ended with the chocolate soufflรฉ. Service was polite and friendly. I'm criminally late at posting these so I can't remember everything we had. Great classic spot for a celebration.
It's been 10 years since we last visited this restaurant.
And this restaurant is still one of the best dining experiences you can have in San Francisco. The food is excellent the wine list a superb list and the service and staff were all very good If you're ever in San Francisco, go check this restaurant out if you can get a reservation.!
Great service and ambience.
Food was salty to my taste. Bigger portions than I expected.
Started off with the Glazed Oysters, which were pretty good.
They tasted like those Chinese buffet oysters but with a softer texture. The risotto with lobster and rock shrimp was superb and was some of the softest lobster I ever had; the portion was quite sizable considering that it was an appetizer. The Roast Lobster with potato purรฉe was also pretty tasty and kept consistent with the soft texture. However, the Coriander and rosemary crusted tuna was goofily plated (is this an asparagus compass? why do i have 5 egg halves? Who took the other half of that egg??) and overall was quite bland. The herb crusted lamb loin needed some more seasoning . The polenta was nice, but the eggplant thing was too mushy. The filet of beef was a pretty standard steak dish and was enjoyable. Things ended on a good note with the desserts. The citrus lemon curd was very tart and was balanced out by the excellent sorbet that came with it. The cheesecake with poached rhubarb was surprisingly soft and fluffy so it didn't feel too heavy. Overall, had a good time and would come back again and just swap out some the dishes for something different.

The most amazing experience.
The best service, the fabulous food, the wine, the cheese! This is my special occasion go to restaurant. On 4 special occasions, we've traveled over 100 miles to Gary Danko in the last 2 years for a fabulous meal. Mother's Day celebration, my kids all made it. Reservations can be tricky for early hours, so plan ahead. The price is decent, compared to other Michelin's that I don't enjoy as much as Gary Danko and are more expensive. I also love the fact one can pick between 3, 4 or 5 items, as well as have option of wine paring. For a memorable dinner, Gary Danko is a must!
We went for Father's Day and it lived up to all the hype.
Perfect service, exquisitely displayed food. Outstanding wine. Let's be clear, it's a special occasion place. Our dinner including bev and two was $450 for two.
Slight Dip in Food Quality . . . Still a Memorable Experience
Our family went to celebrate another milestone . . . probably our 12th time since its opening. As we have done so for the past 11 visits, we ordered the Glazed Oysters, Lobster Risotto, Roast Lobster, Filet of Beef, Roasted Quail and Chocolate Soufflรฉ. We also tried a few new dishes , including the Beef Tartare and Seared Scallops. The best dish was once again the Glazed Oysters. This dish is as iconic to Gary Danko as Tuna Tartare was to Michael Minaโs Aqua. A visit to Gary Danko would not be the full experience without the Glazed Oysters. Highly recommended. The worst dish was the Seared Scallops. This dish was a huge disappointment. The scallops were tiny and the oversized sweet potato reminded me of a โpotato skinsโ dish at a bad diner. The protein was fine. The sweet potato did not pair well with the scallops. It was just bad. And the presentation was horrible. This dish needs to be reimagined. Beef Tartare was good but not special. Comprable to the beef tartare at Left Bank. At the minimum, they should have put a raw quail egg to moisten the tartare. Needs to be more special to remain on the Gary Danko menu. Most of the other dishes were excellent but about 90% of the best weโve had at Gary Danko. Not sure why quality has dropped a bit. Quality control needs to improve. Nevertheless, we had an excellent meal overall. Service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive, as usual. The dining room was beautiful, as always. But we did notice a slight drop in the quality of the food. And finally, the presentation was not up to par. The people who played the dishes should have done a better job.
Never Again
We had dinner here two years ago on the day of our wedding; having previously eaten here many years ago when the restaurant first opened. On that occasion, we had a good time and good food - but there was a single issue that I wish Iโd remembered before booking again: they keep the place at a ridiculously low temperature. (Metal cutlery/flatware felt almost frozen like it sometimes does on a plane.) Last time, we mentioned the cold draught and it was fixed immediately. This time (our anniversary) they could not alter it - and I was not going to eat dinner draped in a shawl that they proffered! (Not when Iโm paying $750 for a meal for two, thank you!) After half an hour with no resolution, we paid for our cocktails and left. The other meal cost a fraction of Dankoโs and - judging by the speed at which other diners were being hustled through their meals - we had a lucky escape (and still enough for two more meals). Itโs a (very chilly) conveyor thatโs optimised for parting customers from their money in the shortest possible time.
Nice
Very romantic place for a special night with your sihnifican other, you can also bring your kids , the food is very good and is not difficult to get there.
A bit disappointed of our experience last night.
We've been here about 4-5 times and it's been great in the past but this last time was very mediocre. None of the food had a wow factor except the dessert. The wine pairings were not complimentary of the meal choices, very surprised by this. Maybe it was just an off night but we were pretty bummed since we were out celebrating and wanted a special meal, especially for the price. The bread served was cold with rock hard butter which was also interesting. We received the bill and saw a 7% SF mandate which is higher than other restaurants we've been to in SF and upon researching it, it's at each individual restaurants discretion what the % is and not mandated by the city or state rather something business owners need to pay but seems the cost is being sent down to the customers. Giving 3 stars because our server was pretty good and the presentation was beautiful.

Loved every minute! They made us feel very special since it was our anniversary. The food was great and so were the drinks. The entire evening was incredibly enjoyable. I would recommend sitting at the bar if you can. The service there is impeccable.

The staff were all so awesome, fun group, and very professional as well. The food was incredible. The service is impeccable, presenting each dish to highlights it's freshness and meticulous construction. Highly recommend!
Amazing special occasion meal.
Excellent service. It was so special for my husband's 55th birthday.
This is absolutely the best restaurant in the city.
Hands down all around. Food amazing. Service - top tier. Ambiance- majestic. Even the bathroom is like a spa.

Excellent option for a special occassion night out or if you want to treat yourself to an excellent dinner, ambiance and service whenever you are able to. Excellent quality and great welcoming service from start to finish. Food was delicious; I cannot complain about anything. If you come here you will not be dissapointed; very professional, attenative and excellent establishment. The take home cake they provide as a generous favor was so delicous! so photo. Boris has a great personality and provides great service. Thank you Gary Danko Team!
What an amazing experience.
Worth every penny. We had reservations for a birthday. We arrived a bit early, and sat at the bar to get a drink. We were promptly seated in a corner booth. So kind of the staff to give us such great seats! The sommelier helped us to pick an excellent bottle of wine. We ordered the 4 course tasting menu -- all of which was incredible. I would absolutely return here for another special event.
Last night was a double celebration at a destination
Last night was a double celebration at a destination restaurant, Gary Danko. The ultra service was one of the best we ever had, starting with the wait captain, serve was Miguel, top service. The food presentation and tastes magnificent. Started with a warm goat vegetable tart. The surprise was my entree, quail, expecting one bird, got two, dessert was warm butter cake. My friend, Lauren dinner was risotto with loster, filet of beef and profiteroles. It was Lauren's birthday, and one hundred days after my kidney transplant. Planning my return trip!
We made a reservation weeks ahead for Galentines day dinner
We made a reservation weeks ahead for Galentines day dinner and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was elegant yet inviting. The service was truly exceptional. Unlike some restaurants, they didn't rush us through our meal, allowing us to savor each moment. The staff was attentive and professional, offering assistance and recommendations whenever needed. Now, let's talk about the food! While everything we tasted was delicious, some dishes truly stood out (Branzini, Seared filet of beef, baked chocolate souffle). Appetizer: Lobster risotto (4/5) - It was just a tiny bit salty but other than that it was great! Not to mention the portion of this dish was very generous. Branzini (5/5) - The branzini was cooked to perfection. The crispy skin gave way to a tender, flavorful fish. Seared filet of beef (5/5) - Cooked exactly as requested, the filet was incredibly tender and bursting with juicy flavor. baked chocolate souffle (5/5) - An absolute dream come true! It tastes like chocolate could. Trio Creme Brulee with Assorted Cookies (5/5) - The trio offers 3 distinct flavors (chocolate, original and passionfruit). My personal favorite was the passion fruit, which offered a refreshing and vibrant contrast to the sweetness. Highly recommend! I would definitely go back and explore more of their menu
Let's get right to the point.
This is one of my two favorite restaurants in the entire United States (and I've eaten in fine dining establishments in all 50 states). I'm not even going to attempt to describe the food. Let's just say no matter what you order, it is delicious and prepared perfectly. Their cheese cart, to me, is the best thing on the menu. It is a true cheese cart where the fromagier will describe the 15 or so cheeses in as much detail as you want. If you are having the cheese as one of your courses, you choose four that are served with the appropriate accoutrements. Just fabulous! OK - so you're thinking, "I've eaten at other restaurants that have amazing food. What's so special about this one?" In a word, pampering. Have you ever been pampered? I mean truly pampered. At a restaurant? Well, at Gary Danko they pamper you from the moment you walk in until you leave. And, most importantly, the pampering is not stuffy nor pretentious. You always feel so comfortable here. Service is always spot on. Want 15 minutes with your cocktail before the first course arrives? Say so and it happens. Want more time between courses (or faster service)? Say so and it happens. Yes, I've been here several times before. This is the place I chose for my birthday dinner this year. Absolutely no regrets.
Unforgettable 58th Birthday Celebration
Dear Gary Danko and Team, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the extraordinary dining experience I had at your restaurant on my 58th birthday. The evening was truly remarkable, thanks to the exceptional meal and the outstanding service provided by your team. The diversity of options in each course, the impeccable presentation of the dishes, and the explosion of flavors in every bite made the meal an absolute delight. Your culinary expertise and the creativity reflected in each dish did not go unnoticed and were thoroughly enjoyed. Moreover, the service I received was beyond exceptional. The staff was not only attentive and professional but also demonstrated a genuine enthusiasm for ensuring my celebration was special. Their warmth and knowledge added immensely to the overall enjoyment of the evening. The added touches for my birthday, including a slice of cake and the thoughtful parting gift, were truly heartwarming. It made the celebration even more memorable and personal, and I appreciate the effort your team put into making it so. I want to extend my compliments to the entire team at Gary Danko for creating an atmosphere that goes beyond just a dining experienceโit was a culinary journey filled with joy, warmth, and a touch of celebration. Thank you once again for making my 58th birthday celebration truly unforgettable. I look forward to returning to Gary Danko for future special occasions and recommending your establishment to friends and family.
Good Gary
Glad i got a reservation on xmas eve and first time here Very good service from start to finish They have a set menu of 5 courses, and a flexible one with 3, 4, 5 courses where you can select even 5 desserts. I should have gone with the 3 , but i chose 5 with my partner 1 amuse bouche and it was a good truffle soup. And 1 sourdough-like bread My lobster salad was good, the butternut squash soup too watery. Branzino was good, so was the beef tenderloin. Cheese platter was ok Some petit fours to end the meal Overall food was good to very good, but not creative. Bread and butternut squash soup were letdowns
Wonderful lobster !
Food delicious . Loved the lobster. Ate 4 dishes menu , it is a fixed price menu , wich it is nice to try differents dishes. Cozy place !
Still our Favorite
we were able to snag two seats at the bar at the last minute. I love the format: choose 3 or 4 or five courses. However, the selections are not predetermined, as they are on a tasting menu. My husband and I like the flexibility. His quail in my horseradish, encrusted salmon were both excellent choices. We also enjoyed four cheeses from the abundant cheese selection tray. Weโd love to come here every time we are in San Francisco.
High-end service
Hello there, So, where do we begin? Here's something interesting to discuss. I recently had the opportunity to call this restaurant, and it truly paid off. I was dying to try their food for a while. Finally, I decided to arrange a party there. Even how they treat their customers via phone made me sure that the experience with this restaurant will be worth any cost or sacrifice. The staff was incredibly friendly and showed up true interest in all my requests. This place will be one of the tops in my list of go-to places in town. Also, you gotta consider, that itโs a high-end restaurant, so you can doll yourself up and enjoy a gourmet meal. I am looking forward to saying to my friends, ยซThisโs a great place. I've been there!ยป
Top class dining experience on gold plated conveyor belt!
Absolutely beautiful food and exemplary serviceโฆ. One of the most expensive meals weโve done. Over ยฃ500 for 2. Weโd completed our 3 course meal in under an hour and half and felt like we were on a gold plated conveyer belt. It was certainly a memorable culinary experience but felt curiously short changed.
We were here 10 years ago and here we are again to
We were here 10 years ago and here we are again to celebrate our Anniversary. This is always a special place for us. We were expecting valet parking but they did away with that for a few years already. So make sure you factor in parking before your reservation as street parking can be difficult and note that metered parking is still enforced even after 6 pm. As we entered, the front staff greeted us with Happy Anniversary which was nice. The ambiance was warm and inviting. A bar is located in the middle, with table seating located on both sides of the restaurant. As we sat, we were served an Amuse-Bouche, literally 'amuse mouth' in French, which is simply a savory appetizer before a meal. We then ordered a four course meal and the great thing is, you are not limited to the order of the courses and can order four mains or any combination of courses from the menu if you so choose. The food is always presented beautifully and the staff are always attentive and courteous. Here are the prices as of 3/18/23 - 3 Courses $122, 4 courses $150 and 5 courses $170. The following were excellent choices - Seared Filet of beef, so tender and melt in your mouth, Duck breast was great and the sides really helped bring out the flavor of the duck, Roast lobster was fresh and delicious with the potato puree, Lobster risotto was so good and the oysters with caviar was excellent but the portion size was small with 3 tiny oysters & caviar. The lamb was served just the way I like it. However, I wish it was served with something sweet such as mint sauce or a fruit compote. For our cheese course, we chose 4 cheeses from the cheese cart. My favorite was the orange Shropshire blue cheese which was soft and delicious with the grapes. At the end of our meal, they served us a plate of petit fours with the words Happy Anniversary on the plate, together with a candle. Perfect for a photo op to mark our Anniversary milestone. Also, every guest gets a beautifully wrapped cake to go. Note - They add a 7% SF Mandate to your bill. Overall, a great fine dining experience to mark a special occasion. Will definitely return to mark our next milestone.
The service there is amazing.
Everyone was so pleasant and we spoke to Gery at the end of our dinner and we had the best time talking to him. We were the last table at the restaurant and we did not feel rushed or like we were holding anyone up. The food was perfect as always and the timing was great. This was my boyfriends and friends first experience and we will be coming back. Food was perfectly timed and portioned.
Classic special occasion restaurant.
Their formulae has worked for many years and I'm glad they didn't make post Covid changes

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Gary Danko San Francisco at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Gary Danko San Francisco page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FluffyStar64, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FluffyStar64 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FluffyStar64 for any questions Peter may have as FluffyStar64 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FluffyStar64 now uses their connections at Gary Danko San Francisco to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FluffyStar64 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FluffyStar64 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FluffyStar64's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Gary Danko San Francisco!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
