Fyn Restaurant Cape Town Reviews
A perfect dining experience
This was perfection on every level. Incredible staff: friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. Each of the 8 courses was a masterpiece. Creative and so tasteful. The wine pairing also reached top level. Nice interior with open kitchen. Michelin doesnโt operate in Africa but if they were this place deserves 3 stars.

Fabulous From Start to Finish
This restaurant was the highlight of our dining experiences in Cape Town !! Everything was superb and absolutely delicious. Course after course of heavenly creations. We went for lunch and were thrilled we did. This is a not to be missed dining experience. Highly recommend.
Incredible
We had dinner here on our first night in Cape Town and it was exceptional. Everything on the menu was delicious, the presentation of the food was fun without compromising the taste and the service was really good. We have just returned back from a two week trip in South Africa and this was our best meal. Would highly recommend!
Very good restaurant in Cape Town
Great food, great wines and the atmosphere is very zen! Must say our waiter was not in the best mood which made our experience a bit less special. But furthermore we really enjoyed the evening as a group and would definitely recommend this place in case your looking for fine dining.
memorable
Tasting menu with wine pairing, superb setting, Japanese/South African fusion cuisine, it's beautiful, a dazzle for the palate. Cape wagyu, shiso and old carrot / springbox in hazelnut crust, salt-cooked celery root / abalone Malagasy caviar and tamagoyaki / crayfish pot with fermented yuzu pepper... The best gastronomy of our trip, a festival. And an attentive welcome. Well done and thank you
Yeahโฆ.Nahโฆ.something is off at FYNโฆ.
On arrival we were seated at the table closest to the waiters service station which is a wooden cupboard where the staff constantly open and close wooden drawers so you have a reverberation through your body as they open and close drawers and remove items from the cupboard. The sound and vibration is akin to having your chair pushed into every 30 seconds. There was a female floor manager, wearing sandals exposing feet ( thought covered shoes were required in food prep and service areas??) who promenaded up and down, up and down. Her vibe was more prison guard than host of a fine dining experience. We caught a number of the staff side- eyeing her as she pushed past them while they were trying to clear to take plates back to the kitchen. Canโt put my finger on it but her vibe was definitely gaoler/school maโam than host. The kitchen team in the outer prep area were dishevelled. Some wearing Nike caps, some wearing Rip Curl caps, some with no caps, most with stained aprons, no casual glances at the guests. No bonhomie. When Peter Tempelhof arrived with 2 women sucking on take away coffee cups in the prep area, the whole mood declined further. The tension in the air rose. I feel leadership is based on fear not genuine respect and collaboration. The food - well, look, it was ok. Not a mind blowing experience and the weird vibe in the dining space had already unsettled us which does affect the tasting experience. The starter cocktails were not refined and most probably targeted at palates that favour sweetness and IG clicks. The strawberry one was like drinking straight syrup. Yick. I donโt know if it was just an off day, maybe the restaurant shines best at dinner but think the owners need to sit in the guest space and refresh. The scent was off - particularly at table next to service area, no ambient music, no little amuse bouche or touchesโฆ..to be honest it all felt very process line.
Best experience I ever had
I had a day lunch with the better half we had a great visit to this place their food was very delicious and their service is out of this world best service and good food....
Divine
The food was divine, delicious and the service was very amazing, the people know how to treat customers with good services
One of the very best
An amazing experience. It was a slightly challenging menu, that was maybe missing a crunchy texture through a few dishes, but it was one that was still very good anyway. The bread and creme brulee was one of the best things ive tasted.
