I'm always happy to find a 100% vegan spot with a somewhat varied/extensive menu. Franchia offers that and is also fairly comfortable and ambiance is good. But, overall, the food was fairly mediocre and the service was not good. Though the host was very pleasant, the waitress was grumpy at best. I'd go so far as to say harsh! She rushed us to order and then was visibly displeased that we ordered a drink as complicated as pineapple juice (which we could see from the cocktail menu they had fresh) and seltzer. No seltzer or sparkling water of any kind, only club soda!?! It was disappointing, as, for the most part was the food. I gave up on my drink and ordered a glass of wine that never came, nor did a fork my dining companion requested. If I can manage to get reservations at any one of the growing number of much better vegan spots in the city, I don't think I'll come back here.

The food was delicious. There were so many unique appetizers and dishes that it was hard to choose! There were 4 of us. We shared 4 appetizers and two entrees. The portions were not huge so we also got the sushi roll combo. The service was good. It was pretty crowded, but we were seated quickly. We did have to wait a bit when our entree came out without the rice, but it was a minor inconvenience and the waiter was apologetic. We will definitely go back!
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed this vegan restaurant.
It was a nice walk from Penn Station and is tucked away a bit from the hustle and bustle, which was a welcomed escape. Courteous service, delicious food, and a tranquil atmosphere. A narrow location but clean and orderly, with a couple tiers of seating and a small bar on the first level. It's definitely not a power-lunch type place, but is the type of spot where you can meet up with friends or colleagues for a good meal and a relaxing tone. They seem to have neighborhood regulars, which speaks volumes.

Great food and experience! Went here for Valentine's Day and got the limited 4-course meal. The food looked incredible too.
Be the first to ReplyFranchia is one of my favorite restaurants in new york.
The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is always relaxing and pleasant. I always leave with a smile on my face.

I have been frequenting this restaurant for years and the taste and quality of the food stays consistently delicious and fresh. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a healthy meal without sacrificing flavor (I am a meat-eater for the record but I come here at least 3-4x a year).

I appreciate the vegan options but the environment was stressful. Someone had their small dog at the table next to us just barking the whole time. Employees said nothing to them. As for the food, overpriced for the taste. No one in my party was really happy with the food they ordered and we got a wide selection of dishes. This place has great potential but needs polishing.

We loved this place! We tried walking in to Hangawi and were turned down due to a full house and us not having reservations. I quickly went on yelp to find nearby eateries only to stumble upon this place which happens to be Hangawi's sister restaurant and less than a 10 minute walk! Needless to say the food did not disappoint and the ambiance was nice. We were very happy to have found this place.

Really enjoyed this tranquil hideaway that happens to be a Vegan Korean restaurant on Park Ave a block north of 34th Street. Coming from the UWS, it's a bit of an excursion, but was worth the trek.Narrow but with a few tiers of seating, the dark wood, soft gugak music set a serene & welcoming tone. This is a perfect spot for a second date, once established but seeking a peaceful, unhurried place to savor unique teas, wine & soju cocktails and delicious Korean food.Ordering was easy for me, the spicy kimchi stone bowl with crunchy rice on the bottom of a sizzling hot surface was perfect. Looking at the web site or Yelp photos does not provide the incredible feeling that actually sitting in this beautiful space did for me, I am really appreciating this now while writing a review...Looking forward to returning with Lee, in the very near future.

Ordered the drunken basil noodles and they were really good! I would order it again and the portion size was just right. The ambiance was very comfortable and it's not too loud.

My partner and I shared the randang and the bbq noodle soup with wontons. Food was solid but not spectacular with generally small portions.

Maaaaaaan !! Franchia has officially made it to the list of my favorite spots. Nothing like a good massage, a fat joint and Franchia crab cakes to complete a successful day. Which is what me and the Mrs seem to do every time we end up eating here. Not gone hold you, you can just order the apps and make a meal. From the shrimp to the sushi options you can't lose. But have to say the kebabs won the night. Ordered em twice! Trust you won't be disappointed so pull up. Weednvegan

After a nice early afternoon show on Broadway, my group and I (7 of us) were ready for dinner. We went to a couple of places that had vegan options (for me) but a long wait time (up to 2hours) because of our group size. We continued to look around and look up options, and stumbled upon this gem. I was excited that the other six in my party (all non vegans) were willing to eat at this vegan cafe. All I can say is that I wish we had a place like this back home. The pho and sushi were amazing! The staff was super nice and even agreed to break our orders into three separate checks. I had pho and a dragon roll and of course I tasted some of the volcano roll, as well as the desserts that were ordered by the others. Everything was really good and everyone was happy and enjoyed the food.

Love this place but as others have suggested, needs a lotmore gluten free choices and some lunch specials for those of us that can't have gluten. The menu looks great and if I can have more of it, and have lunch, I'd be happy to give five stars.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a lovely lucky find after a busy day of shopping.
We were looking for a vegan restaurant in this area, but were pleasantly surprised with the quiet elegance of Franchia. The classy wooded ambience, the attentive servers, and delightful food made this a quick favourite!!My daughter and I each had a glass of wine, she had a stone bowl full of steaming vegetables and rice. I had the drunken basil noodles. We were both full, and completely satisfied. Our bill was $74. Other reviewers thought this was high, but wine is standard pricing ($14-16/glass), the stone bowl was $21 and the noodles $18. We were both stuffed. We could've taken leftovers home, but we were headed back out to shop. We'll be back. The desserts looked fun, but we were full.

I haven't had such a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience in a long time. I hope I don't jinx it. It could be getting lucky with what I chose but I definitely felt happy during my entire meal and had no negative feelings or complains. There wasn't really anything for me to complain about or critique to improve either. I simply enjoyed a nice appetizer tea (the sweet and sour really helped combat nausea and stimulate the appetite) and was really happy with my fresh and colorful avocado bibimbap. The rice was perfectly sizzling on the stone bowl, but wasn't sticking and hard yet, so I was able to stir and mix everything to get more coverage. The crisped edges were just right, not burnt, dry or hard, not too chewy you can't bite into it, but just right. The avocado and veggies weren't over cooked at all. Everything was still very fresh and cooked the prefect amount. Typically the annoying thing about a stone bowl is that the bean sprouts are grey and over cooked and I was so worried my avocado would be, but it wasn't!Overall, I had a very satisfying and happy meal. I am definitely coming back to try other items on the menu.
Be the first to ReplySo glad I stopped by this little gem for lunch.
Their vegan menu is very extensive with items ranging from ramen to curry to bibimbap. The service was very fast and the food was delicious and fresh. I had the mushroom hot plate which came with lots of fresh vegetables. I had the soup as well which was really tasty. Looking forward to coming back!Sustainability rating: 3.5 out of 5 (average). Used reusable dinnerware and utensils with paper napkins. I believe they don't use plastic straws which is nice.
