Be careful what you order
We had the salad appetizer which seemed to be made with something like cool whip. My partners fish dish was very good. I had the steak. The reviews said the steak was disappointing I have to agree grisly and some unnecessary fat. But the partner said the drinks were great.

Dinner for three on a Sunday evening. Our reservation was at seven, and our meals arrived more than hour later, although the dining area was half-full. Under dim lighting, the menu was difficult to read, but our real problem was imagining what the food - and cocktails - was supposed to taste like. It seemed the chef combined a random mixture of ingredients to create unique dishes, but any logic was lost on us. My lasagna was actually burned black around the edges. The ambient music doubled in volume about 30 minutes after we arrived, and was best suited to a pizza place. For $150, it was an expensive lesson. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, and our server was fine. We had lots of water while we waited.

Well let's start with the very good to excellent. The 10 Hour Flight drink was excellent as was The Mary Taylor Baujoiais. The Focaccia was very good tasty and warm. We had the Mozzarella appetizer which was okay and interesting. Pickled watermelon rine along with Mozzarella cheese.with black berries the sauce was like a jello sauce. The Blackberry Streusel was good and the peach Upside down Cake was very good. The steaks from what I read beforehand leave a lot to be desired. I have to agree my Coppa Steak was 40% fat and grisle. Probably one of the worst steaks I have had in Kansas City. The Turkey Ballotine was very good. The bar is a hopping place the drinks are excellent but I do not know if that will keep the restaurant afloat.

We were really looking forward to trying out this restaurant. Loved the building and decor. And our server did a good job when she finally got around to getting our drinks and appetizer. We ordered the steak tartare to begin. Utterly tasteless except for the onion dip and chips that was serviced with it. Of the three of us two ordered the $48 Denver steak. I don’t think I have ever had a worse steak. Half of it was pure fat. The green beans were barely cooked and the hominy was tasteless. So we still decided to try the desert, partially because we were still hungry. The blackberry “cobbler” was a dry, hard piece of cake with some blackberries on top. No taste here either. Our bill was $214 and the only thing I would order again was my drink.
Be the first to ReplyGreat then, not so much now …
It’s interesting to see that the 5 star reviews are all from a couple of years ago … and, truth be told, had I written a review following our several visits then, it would most probably have been at least 4 - and possibly 5 - stars as well … however, sadly, that was then and today is now. The menu has devolved from interesting and creative to limited and silly, the harsh, screeching music made conversation virtually impossible (and, shortly after the woman at the hostess desk turned it down at my request, she seemed to turn it right back up), and the obvious attempts to be “cutting edge” came across as dull and uninviting. I genuinely regret the change …

Cute setup/atmosphere, and lots of parking (rare for downtown). Food was amazing, although I thought the servings were small for the price. Dishes were unique and delicious. I had Farfelle (pork, corn, pasta) - it was just spicy enough, and was a wonderful combination of flavors.

It is literally the next day...I have had amazing meals in my life. When I tell you I'm literally still thinking about that pork chop. I woke up this morning thinking about it. I'm shocked. It was amazing. Everything from the service, the cocktails, and jesus, the food. We sat outside and had cocktails with friends under their wysteria vine covered pergola. Sara was our server. I highly doubt kansas city has a better meal anywhere. Get the porkchop, the duck meatballs, and everything. I was absolutely blown away. We had such a great night and will be back. Please...if you support anything support this. This place has to stay.

We had a great experience at Fox & Pearl while visitng KC for a quick weekend. The service was great and the menu was creative and pulled together well.
Be the first to ReplyStylish New Place in Historic Westside
Had dinner on a lively Friday night during the Christmas holidays. The older brick building has been transformed into interesting spaces and there is plenty of off-street parking just north of the place. As for the interior, there are several different areas - main dining room with a lighted bar, downstairs in a dark, cozy, cavernous area with another bar and a third dining area in the back (up several steps). Reception and service were excellent. The menu (which has small & large plates) is eclectic with rabbit pie and several duck dishes (one with cassoulet) but there are some easy to like entrees like fried chicken, pork chop and a ribeye steak. The sides (mashed potatoes, grits and beets) were all excellent. The pricey wine list requires serious concentration because most of the choices are out of the mainstream - someone obviously spent a lot of time finding little known wines and avoiding the "usual suspects." Really festive atmosphere on the night we were there! All in all, a fine new addition to the KC dining scene.

Food was delicious, service was right on point. They’re very prompt on taking orders, and bringing food and drinks out. Very cozy setting, kinda dark though so u would need some light to read the menu. The decors is clean but modern. All and all it’s a must place for us to go back.
