A very poorly maintained, poorly run shell.Fontainebleau restaurants usually close early and room service also has limited availability. The food is overpriced and not worth that price. Seafood is not fresh and most servers are snobbish. It seems they only focus on their alcoholic drinks and not on any real dining. Upon arriving at 2 pm the restaurants were closed and room service was closed as well. You could only get alcoholic drinks and snacks at the pool. When I called for room service during their oddly small windows of time, they were out of most things on the menu and quoted wait times of 45 to 90 minutes. The room was poorly maintained and poorly cleaned. One phone did not work. The other was covered in what looked like vomit and the volume could not be adjusted, so the hotel worker and I could not hear each other. There was spilled coffee on the desk and wastebasket. Towels and linens were worn, some with stains and holes. The shower was covered in mold and had a rusted showerhead and light fixture. Not to mention in order to access the shower, you have to close the bathroom door and leave the shower door open unless you like intense saunas while showering. The toilet only flushed by holding the handle down for 30 seconds which resulted in dirty toilet water being splashed in your face.Staff friendliness and helpfulness was hit or miss, but moreso a miss. The concierge and front desk were rarely available. Actually, every morning there were collections of Door Dash orders gathered at the concierge and front desks because hotel staff were either not present or unwilling to let guests know their items arrived. You would think, given the lacking onsite food and convenience on site, the hotel would embrace Door Dash given most of the hotel staff do not seem concerned about providing any service.Justin at the pool and Corrine at La Cote were very nice. Arkadia Grill staff were nice. La Vida/Blade staff are snotty and usually closed early or refused entry. Lapis Salon had non-working foot baths and the nail tech was snobby when told the water was not bubbling, snapping that she did not know what "bubbling" is.The pool area is nice, but there is nowhere to sit other than $300+ rentable beach chairs, beach beds, and cabanas. I would honestly be willing to pay for these, but the chairs are rusted and worn, and most people throw trash on the day beds. There was a 21+ only pool area that was never open. The pools were not very clean. They serve overpriced drinks and little food. Pools close at sunset, which is not useful to those there for a conference.I understand the pandemic has wreaked havoc on hotels, especially with staff shortages. But the problems with the Fontainebleau can be fixed with basic maintenance, cleaning, and organization. If you can't staff 10 restaurants, close some of them and put your energy into making one or two restaurants good experiences for guests throughout the day. Rust and mold can be removed with basic cleaning products with regular detailed cleanings. Stained, torn and worn linens need to be tossed. If you will not offer room service at decent hours, partner with Door Dash to make deliveries 24/7. Keep the 21+ pool open late, especially for conferences and those working late.Truly disappointing experience.
