The ambiance is nice, the service is great, the only problem is the food !! The mast mosir is not made with mosir and is made with garlic it was disgusting !! Kashke bademjoon was sweet and not at all taste like kashke bademjoon and the koobideh tasted nothing like koobideh !! I hated every bite and couldn't even finish my food !! So disappointed!!! Oh by the way the bread they bring before food is amazing ! I think i just ate the bread !
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Persian restrants I have ever had.
The Soltani is a great meal if you are hungry and is also really good food to have as a family. The area is really nice and if you get to stop by. I recommend to try Saffron and Rose for desert. The service is amazing and if you speak Farsi you can have some conversations with the waiters. It also has great ambiance and You can watch them make the fresh bread right there. The food is moderately priced and I recommend parking behind the building there is always an open spot. So overall highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyWe walked a while to find some good halal Persian food.
We were originally going to Shaherzad Restaurant but it looked like it was closed down so we were kind of annoyed and we noticed this place. They are full halal menu and service was fast and food was good. The beef koobedeh was not the best but the chicken was better. We were so glad they were open so we didn't have to waste more time searching for Persian food. The service was really great. They did not rush us.

Too bad I don't have photos, but this place is amazing! We came with a big group and ordered half of what's on the menu. I'm Persian, and was excited about how authentic and delicious the food was! Also, very reasonably priced, and nice service too.

I was there Sunday late night and ordered one beef kobideh and one combo kobideh and when it comes to kabob all Persians know kobideh is most common food , first I thought it was me but when my mom started complaining about quality of kobideh I knew I wasn't wrong , didn't taste like meat at all and had a very wired taste , I don't know what was the ingredients but please take it away from your menu or serve kobideh
Be the first to ReplyProbably the worst service I've received in my life.
Food was really bad. I'm not sure if the food could be more bland...Mast o moosir was some fluffy Greek yogurt with salt and pepper...?
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed my time at this place.
I ordered rainbow trout fish & my husband ordered koobide. We also ordered yogurt & cucumber & tahdig with ghorme sabzi. Everything was delicious!

They ran out of tadig at 6pm?! The koobideh tasted strange. The wrong rice came with the food. Asked for a side of onion that never came. My daughters salad finally came about 45 minutes after her meal. The makhlood ice cream was strange. I will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyI wish I could give this place 1 \ 2 star.
Horrible place for large parties. Horrible service for large parties. Food is not good quality to the standard of Persian food and the price they charge. This place is not trained to service large parties. The owner charges for large parties in advance and deliver way less food and drinks to the guest. While during the party, they come to you and ask to charge you to provide extra food or drinks that you originally had paid them. The large extended addition to the restaurant is very closed up and has no air. No music or sound in the large extended patio so if you or your guest like to listen to music and dance, they all have to move to the smaller section inside. Over all, stay away from this place, IF you planning to have a large party.

Excellent Persian restaurant! Fresh bread, tasty and real Persian cuisine! After 12 years I felt I'm back to my country. Staff are so nice and friendly. Service is so good and fast! 5 Star indeed! :)
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food, excellent and friendly service.
Granted, we were there when it wasn't busy at all, the staff did everything they could to give us a good experience. FOODThe Cornish hen was a bit dry and a bit too sour for my taste and rice quality could have been better. (Minus one star)The ghormeh sabzi with veal was delicious The ghaimeh was good but I've had betterThe most-o-khiar was delicious. SERVICEWe were celebrating a birthday, the staff happily accepted our cake and brought it out with candles that they provided and sang her happy birthday. They also provided extra plates and utensils for the cake. They were very accommodating.
Be the first to ReplyAs soon as we walked in I knew we had made a big mistake
As soon as we walked in I knew we had made a big mistake this place was empty and not welcoming. A single employee running around picking up the phone orders then running back to take our order then running back into the kitchen and flipping the skewers. Too much work for a single person!! the salad was mushy looked like it been sitting the day prior (the cucumbers and tomato weren't crisp) the rice was very bland almost microwave prep. I tired to mix the salad and yogurt in with my rice to help improve the taste but I wasn't successful. The beef barg was decent, and dads chicken was undercooked we didn't make the 30+ min drive to get disappointed, but the plus side was my dad saw a part of LA he hasn't revisited in 10+ years.
Be the first to ReplyNot a stranger to Persian food by any means and everything
Not a stranger to Persian food by any means and everything about this place is amazing. The hot bread out of the oven, amazing appetizers, and the main dishes were of course to die for! Portions are more than generous! Service is of course outstanding too. Incredible all around.
Be the first to ReplyWe went here last night for a friends birthday dinner.
The service was excellent! Our server Kian worked tirelessly managing our large group. He was extremely pleasant and tried his best to meet all our needs. He gets 5 stars for excellent service! The fresh in house bread along with eggplants -borani bademjaan, and hummus's was absolutely delicious. The fish was a little overcooked. The meats were okay. I've had better and more juicy koobedeh elsewhere. Potions were good! I highly recommend this place for large groups! It's nice inside and they have proper linen and silverware.
Be the first to ReplyThis jewel has been my go to place when I meet someone
This jewel has been my go to place when I meet someone special and they have never had Persian cuisine. Or if they have, had not much to say of it. Ive been going to The Flame on Westwood for many many years. The staff, although not going to kiss your butt welcoming you, they know their place and know what to do to give you what you came for. Mostly male waiters, they rarely make a mistake with an order, if they do, its probably your fault cause they get it right. When I first went in I was nervous yes, my experience with Persian food had been at my friends home in Coronado Island where her mother, an old school Iranian barely speaks english made homemade food that is unbeatable so I had to have it in LA, and this is the place. Order in or out, its consistent. Ive bumped into cast members of Shahs of Sunset eating peacefully with family and other families enjoying themselves, Im the white guy that sticks out but over the years and my constant visits, the ice had melted and I feel pretty much welcomed as anyone. Cannot go wrong here!
Be the first to ReplyI've been coming to Flame for 13 years.
This place has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I have had consistent EXCELLENT service and food for a decade and more. I'm a poor ass young adult, and can't afford to eat here often. But thats what made it special. Their food always nostalgically reminded me of the food I ate growing up with my dad. Something has changed though, and it breaks my heart. I had to move to the valley for 2 years and I couldnt have Flame much during that time. I just moved back recently and had to hit up my favorite shop. The last 5 times I have ordered from them over about 4 months, almost every one of my favorite comfort dishes has tasted wrong or been overcooked. My favorite go-to dishes are either beef or chicken koobideh/soltani, tahdig, ghormeh sabzi, mast-o khiar, baghali polo or any of the variations on polo. The rice is done mostly right, though some of those times it was dry. The koobideh has been dry most of those times. The ghormeh sabzi the last 3 times has been watery and not thick like I would want in a stew. Also there has been no chunks of hearty beef like I am accustomed to. It's small shredded pieces. I could of gotten just very unlucky these past several times and not gotten served chunks. But I love those tender cuts of beef that melt in your mouth as your eating ghormeh sabzi, it's a small slice of heaven. The taste of the actual ingredients in the ghormeh sabzi seemed good to me. I like mine on the sour side and Flame still does that right. Just way more watery than I've ever had ghormeh sabzi and that really killed the dish for me. The beef soltani has been just alright, but often it's on the drier side than the super tender side like I have always had. I think the ingredients are good and the taste is there. I have had one time where I thought the koobideh was less seasoned and tasty than I remember. I've been eating these dishes for so long at this exact place so I have much to compare it to, thats why I am being so specific in this review. The mast-o khiar has also taken a hit. I am not sure if you changed yogurts or maybe just ingredient ratios but it has been less thick and sour than I remember. Also I somehow didn't get diced cucumber in my last delivery order of mast-o khiar which is weird. Thinking that they just served me the wrong yogurt. But the taste just hasn't been as nuanced as it used to be. Not sure if it's an ingredient change or maybe a change of chefs, but most food has been consistently wrong tasting the past 5 times I've gone. Not every dish was off, but at least 1-3 dishes every time was. I say all of this with so much love in my heart and with no spite or anger. I love this place and I just want it to be as good as I remember. I can't justify spending like $60 getting all my favorite comfort foods when they don't taste near perfect like Flame has showed me it can be. Seriously, it used to be consistently perfect and tasty I'd think it was witchcraft or something. If there are any of those working at Flame reading this, please know I love ya'll and I thank you for the great food and memories. I'll be periodically checking in to see how the food is. Sorry for the whole ESSAY. That should show how much I love this place.
Be the first to ReplyHad appetizers, soup and a rice & chicken dish.
The eggplant appetizer was especially good. The soup was interesting. The rice and chicken was awful. I ate two bites. The chicken was so overcooked its hard to imagine anyone enjoys this dish. Picture boiling chicken for a soup, then adding the spent meat to a dish until its almost too dry to swallow. I took the hostess aside and mentioned it. She said yes, it's like this this dish. That's why I always warn people, if they're not familiar with the dish, it's very dry. Three times said she warns the unfamiliar. I said, you didn't warn me. And, she repeated herself. A table of people, we all had drinks, appetizers and an entree each. I had literally taken two bites and didn't take the rest to go. Although she said she warns people and acknowledged she hadn't warned me, she charged me. It was inedible. I'll never go back and can't recommend this place. If you know that this dish is an acquired taste to the point you warn diners and acknowledge I wasn't warned and can see it wasn't eaten and not packed to go - the right thing to do is take it off the check. Not good business
Be the first to ReplyExcellent salmon.
Usually salmon is dry but here is amazing!!! They have an authentic oven to make the bread. There is a vegetarian option for gormesabzi. Unfortunately there is no veggie tachin but that's ok.I love this place and come often with my family.
Be the first to ReplyFood was fantastic.
The bread is super fresh. Our server, Amir, was attentive and very kind. Can't wait to be back!
Be the first to ReplyThis is the biggest joke for "Persian food" there is.
How an area with such a large Persian population allows this place to exist is beyond me.They messed up Ash Reshteh, and Koobideh. Rice is also not cooked properly.Shut this place down immediately.

I ordered kashk e badenjan but they omitted mint which is a critical ingredient of this dish. ย When I asked the waiter for the mint he said they added to the process not on the top of the plate. But There were no mint in the food. This is dishonest.

The food tastes nothing like an authentic and fresh Persian food. Worst "Persian" resturant in Westwood.
Be the first to ReplyKoobideh was flavorless.
Portions are ok. The place could use better decor. ย Didn't like the place, mostly because their mirrors are dark! What's the point of putting in mirrors but then smoking them out?? Just to mess with you, like here look at yourself, but just kidding you can't. ย Won't be going back. two stars are for being open late (until 11pm).
