Felix Trattoria Los Angeles Reviews
Sat at the bar on a Sunday night.
One bartender was nice and bubbly (unfortunately he's not standing in front of us), another one had a frown face from the beginning till the end. He presents an extremely unwelcoming vibe. We ordered two pastas, tagliatelle and cabonara, both were overly salty that you'd think the chef had spilled his salt bottle. The frown face bartender asked us how's the food, we said it's too salty, his response was oh that's how it should be. Really?? I've been to all the major Italian restaurants in town and also been to Europe, you think I don't know how pastas should taste? Yikes. Was too unpleasant at this place that I skipped the desserts. Ciao, will never come back.
Felix is an absolute highlight for Italian cuisine in LA!
Felix is an absolute highlight for Italian cuisine in LA! From the moment you walk in, you feel the warm and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly matches the authentic dishes. The pasta is freshly made with passion โ you can taste the quality in every bite. The pizzas are outstanding too, giving you the feeling of a quick trip to Italy. The staff is attentive, friendly, and makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommended โ I would absolutely come back anytime! Not only because of the fantastic food, but also because Felix brings a true taste of Italy to Los Angeles. Itโs a place you wonโt forget and one youโll definitely want to share with friends and family.
We have been wanting to try this place but always end up in
We have been wanting to try this place but always end up in Venice Beach area last minute and reservations are impossible. So we walked once before and it was a fail as they are very busy. But this time we walked in and got seats at the bar. The bartender was super nice. I notice The hosts are very dismissive if you don't have a reservation. We only ordered two main dishes because we had appetizers at an event we were at. I ordered the whole fish and my husband got the pesto pasta. My platter had a lot food and it was really good. My husband's pasta was really good but the portion was a joke. Luckily he helped me finish my food or he would've been hungry. I've never seen a tiny portion of pasta in any Italian place. For the price, I think the pasta dish could've been a full plate rather than a small bowl. Overall food was good. Glad we got to try it once. May go back one day if in the area again and hopefully other dishes are good and portions will be better. Ambiance was nice but crowded. Bathroom line was ridiculous. It took me three tries to use the bathroom and not be in a 6/7 person line in the middle of the restaurant.
We made reservations for our anniversary and it did not
We made reservations for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious. We made a point to try different items on the menu since we only come for special occasions. Burrata and prosciutto with market fruits. I loved the peaches and figs that were so fresh and sweet. You really can't go wrong with their pasta. We tried three different pastas and they were all fantastic. Linguine al limone is definitely one I would order again. Gnocchette sardi with Santa Barbara uni was packed with umami flavor and my favorite. Trofie is such a unique shape of pasta. It's more al dente and the corkscrew shape really helps the pesto cling onto it so well. Also amazing in taste. The service was wonderful and attentive. They would've given us complimentary prosecco to celebrate our anniversary, but we're not drinkers so they provided us a choice of gelato. It was light and refreshing. The perfect end to the meal. Valet parking is available and there's free street parking in the residential area.

Had dinner last night for wedding anniversary & I must say the food & service was exceptional. The atmosphere is very lively & pleasant. I highly recommend it. I can't wait to go back.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in LA - in the United States, really. Pricey, but food is so consistently delicious that I'm basically like "here, take my money." Highly recommend ordering a few dishes to share because there are so many delicious options, and definitely order the squash blossoms. Excellent wine list as well.
I finally made it to Felix after having it in my bookmarks
I finally made it to Felix after having it in my bookmarks for so long! We were seated in their large and beautiful outdoor patio, which had a lovely atmosphere. If you're prone to mosquito bites like me, definitely bring bug spray, as I unfortunately walked away with both legs covered. The service was excellent, but the food... not so much. We ordered: - Vitruviano: hibiscus mezcal cocktail that was strong yet still tasty and refreshing. - Sfinicione: heavenly and so so fluffy, just as all the reviews say. - Margherita Pizza: lacking in flavor with a slippery texture that didn't work for me. - Tagliatelle: at $46, it was a letdown; perfectly cooked noodles but the sauce wouldn't cling or leave a lasting impression. This is a perfect date night atmosphere, so I'd love to come back to give their other dishes a try.
Service was great.
Very friendly staff and knowledgeable. Ambiance is a perfect getaway in the perfect marina del ray location right next to Venice. Total beach vibe. Was impressed with pizza but not so much the pasta unfortunately. Was really looking forward to trying the pasta. It wasn't bad just isn't a place I'd come back to for pasta. But will be back for pizza!
Had dinner here for a date night, and it totally lived up
Had dinner here for a date night, and it totally lived up to the hype. The pasta is definitely the star here--fresh, handmade, and perfectly cooked. We also shared the pork chop, which was one of our favorite dishes of the night--super flavorful and cooked just right (I mean, just look at the photo!). We had a bottle of wine with dinner and ended up staying a little longer than we probably should have, just soaking it all in. The staff couldn't have been more gracious about it. They were warm, attentive, and never made us feel rushed, which we really appreciated. Felix hit all the right notes for a great night out--delicious food, great wine, and genuinely kind service.
No Sauce for you!
We had heard so many things about this place, and since I had never been i was looking forward to a great experience. The thing that stood out was that I asked for a bit more chimichurri sauce, and the waiter came back and said the chef said no! I mean really, I wasn't going to slather it with ketchup, but whatever, he has the right to say no, and I have the right to never go back and write a mediocre review.
On 8/2/25 we visited the Felix Trattoria.
... Prices do not match the quality of the food. No doubt the ingredients were fresh. But nothing tasted memorable. We start with drinks, they were ok but selection is limited in terms of the brands of alcohol they have. Misticanza salad- it was bitter and the amount of pepper used was way too much. Margherita Pizza- the sauce was watery, pizza was too burnt for my preference and the size of the mozzarela was not up to par with the size of the pizza, also for the basil amount. No tomatoes were on the pizza Tomato was crushed as part of the sauce. Tagliatelle- cost $48 no pride on the presentation in fact it looked like it came from the box of hamburguer helper and it had a mediocre taste. Tagliatelle noodles are wider the ones on my plate looked more like linguine. It indicate on the description on the menu that it was made on a ragu bolognese "vecchia scuola" meaning old school, the ingredients would have made more sense than claiming it was done old school style which most people that have not experience real italian food will not know. It sounds very pretentious and fake! Rigattoni- again no pride on the dish presentation but at least it had a good taste..NOT great but good. At the end of the dinner we didn't feel like having dessert to avoid another disappointment. Not sure if the reviews on this site are legit (I hope they are) not sure if we just happened to visit the restaurant on a bad day.(3 out of the 4 dishes we tried were not good.. I have traveled abroad and eaten at Michelin star restaurants, learned how to make pasta from my mother and Nana, also learned from a chef in Tuscany. I have eaten in some dive bars with awesome home made pasta went to Felix with high expectations came out with a huge disappointment and bad taste on my mouth. Hopefully someone from the restaurant will read my review and will accept it as not a negative but a customer telling you that something needs to be done. Owning a restaurant is not easy, keeping a restaurant alive and busy is more difficult under the current economic situation. I wish you nothing but the best. Overall, Food is mediocre, service is ok and the ambiance is good.

Came here for a birthday celebration and had an amazing time. The patio vibe with string lights and a relaxed atmosphere was perfect. Their wine selection is impressive, and the pizzas and pastas were cooked to perfection using fresh, high-quality ingredients. The tiramisu was the cherry on top with light, rich, and full of flavor. Service was top notch. Definitely planning to come back.
Great service, great food, inflexible on making modifications even for people with allergies
Amazing food, Great service โฆ but โฆ if you have allergies they refuse to make modifications. Can we have a pizza with no cheese? Nope! Shame. Itโs 2025 guys, To be fair the menu says they will refuse to make modifications so they are pretty upfront with their inflexible, luddite views. If you donโt have allergies itโs great and they do have some options for those with allergies โฆ but refusing to remove cheese? Oh dearโฆ.
Food was amazing. Service was a little rushed
The positives. Food was as ridiculously good as we hoped after watching the Chefs Table episode with Evan Funke. His passion for pasta comes through in the food. We ordered 5 pastas and arancini. We knew we would have some leftovers, but they suggested 5-7 plates for three of us which would have been ridiculous. The only complaint I have is that it was a little bit rushed. The chef wanted the whole order at once, which is fine. However, T he pace of the food coming out was a bit too fast, which made it feel mildly rushed. Other than that the service was great. And the pasta!!!!!
An Almost-Perfect Meal
Great food! The fiori di zucca was crispy, & the ricotta filling better than the usual mozzarella. The pastas were dense & delicious. One odd thing about service: We ordered a $100 bottle of Super Tuscan wine. Granted, it was one of the cheaper bottles on their menu. The waitress referred to our choice as "entry level", which I found to be shockingly condescending for a server. Otherwise, service was excellent.
Like Grandma Made
Excellent, food, service and wine, everything was superb!! Pasta is home made, staff is very knowledgeable and service is excellent. Many different pasta options. The wine pairing they suggested was perfect.
Such a fantastic, consistent standout for Italian food,
Such a fantastic, consistent standout for Italian food, ambience and dining. All the pastas, you can't go wrong, and the focacia is a must order. I think the rules of ordering all your food at once (as well as the recent average service) knock off one star. All in all, it's not a place I'm going to give up -- I will always be happy when I'm able to score a dinner reservation at this place.
We had a great time.
Jacob was fantastic and he took care of us the whole night. Request him.
I came here with clients last night, I was fairly excited
I came here with clients last night, I was fairly excited to try their food. I called Tuesday to see if I can get a reservation for Thursday. They only had 5:30 pm or 9 pm reservations. So I thought, why not eat like the Italians and eat late. We arrived, the place is busy with a packed bar and so so decorations. I checked in and were told that they didn't have my reservation. I told them I called and spoke to someone and that we even asked to be added to the waitlist in case of any cancelations. Boop, Boop, Boop, she's typing and looking at her screen, never making eye contact with me,I wasn't sure what she's doing. She's continuing to tell me she can't find my reservation. At this point I'm stressed out and embarrassed because my clients were looking at me like WTF. Finally I said, well I made the reservations and I'd like to be accommodated. She says "Well I see you on the waitlist but nothing for 9 pm, but don't worry, we accommodate you"after 10 minutes of waiting in limbo . We finally get seated out on their patio, it's snug but not tight. The waiter comes over, asks if we want something to drink. I ask him to recommend a nice bottle of house wine, he immediately points to a $240 bottle on the menu. Ok fine, he's here to sell me on stuff, I get it now. I tell him, as much as I'd like to spend $300 on a bottle of wine, I'd pass and get something more affordable. I ended up getting a bottle for $150, that was just ok. We finally ended up ordering food. We ordered bread (SFINCIONE). It was light, fluffy with great flavor, so we ordered a second one. Appetizers we ordered POLPETTE DELLA MAESTRA ALESSANDRA, it was fresh and tasty. On to the pastas, we ordered TAGLIATELLE and TONNARELLI CACIO E PEPE. They were small portions, but good. The Cacio E Pepe was a little too al dente for my taste, but the Tagliatelle was great! Next we ordered the BISTECCA ALLA FIORENTINA. For it being a rib eye, the taste was not there. I swear I could taste the grass the cow ate . It smelled funny too, but meh, it's the experience. All in all, it was just ok for the price you're paying. With the stress at the beginning and the waiter trying to sell me a $240 bottle of HOUSE WINE and the beef not tasty...I most definitely will not come back.
I have been wanting to go to this Restaurant for a long
I have been wanting to go to this Restaurant for a long time, so when My 65th Birthday rolled around, we decided to go down to Marina Del Rey Area for the weekend to celebrate. Finally!.. My chance to go to the infamous Felix Trattoria!... :( .. 4 adults and child went to dinner. The Reservationist was Very Nice and Extremely helpful with getting the seating from outside to inside. She even called me back to let me know she could move me inside, which I wanted.. 5 stars for her!.. Our Waitress was very pleasant, we appreciated her friendliness.. 5 stars for her! We ordered Cocktails and a Shirley Temple (of sorts)... They make their own "lemon lime soda" ... ugh!.. 5 yr old shirley temple was so tart and sour, she couldnt drink it.. Nothing for kids to drink there... not even sprite.. Our cocktails 1 Lemon drop, which was awful because it was sooo very sour, 1 Mojito that was just as bad because it was sooo very sour, 1 vodka and lemon lime soda, which of course was sooo very sour.. None of us could drink our beverages, so water all the way around and very sober birthday celebration (which is not that big of deal, just a little disappointing) so 0 stars on the Cocktails!.. Waitress informed us that the meals are meant for "Family Style Sharing".. but, yet suggested 8 dishes for 4 adults and a toddler.. Not to "family style sharing" to me, when it takes 2 dishes each person. The amount of food was about a large Tablespoon per person to "taste", then there was no more of that pasta dish, (with the exception of the rigatoni mezza that the cacio e pepe came with. there was more of that pasta than the others). We also ordered the $75 Ribeye Cap steak which was a total JOKE!.. there were maybe 7-8 small pieces of steak to go around the table of 5.. it came with lots of Arugula to fill the plate, & under the arugula you find what seems to be Roasted Potatoes, that looked like it was scraped from the bottom of the pan.. there were a few chunks of potatoes and the rest were scrapings and skin all crumbled up. We also ordered the Branzino Fish that was Very Delishious! The sauce was Delishious and it was cooked to perfection!.. The only issue was a couple of us got some bones in our mouth with our bites and had to spit out the fish to remove the bone. They need to debone the fish a little better, if the cocktails would of tasted better, I might of been too buzzed to notice the bones and choked, so hurray for bad cocktails LOL!.. We ordered the Squash Blossoms with Ricotta and they were awesome!.. they did not come with any type of sauce, so we ordered a side of the Marinara, which made them even tastier.. 5 stars for squash blossoms! but, 2 stars for portion size of pasta and steak.. As for the flavor of the pasta dishes, The Tagliatelli Bolognese smelled awful, but the taste was better than the smell, There was not much of a Tomato Base or taste of tomatoes in the Ragu, mostly like a stewed ground meat in gravy. The Cacio e pepe sauce was scarce so it was mostly VERY VERY AL DENTE Pasta with a very light film of sauce & flavor to coat it. I would of preferred a more creamy sauce, but, I had never really had cacio e pepe , so Maybe my perception of this dish is wrong. Pasta Limone: Very Tart! plenty of sauce, but sour & tart. The recipes that call for lemon is very heavy handed and we were glad that there was hardly any to share, because we wasted almost a 1/4 of it. My final thoughts of this Hyped up restaurant and "Hand Made Pasta" is..... I was totally Deflated!.. I really wanted this place to be great! I had high expectations for our experience, but it fell short! very short!.. While I appreciate the Hand Made Pasta and Old Time Technique of how its made, Ultimately in My opinion is A Great Pasta is only as Good as the Sauce that covers it!.. $540 with tip included. What a waste! So very sad to have to leave this review!..
I've been to Felix three times.
I always hope to have a different experience each time, I want to stay open to it, to get the hype, but every time I leave feeling like I paid way too much for basically "good" food. It's a great vibe, the service is top notch, the wine list is incredible, but the food doesn't wow me, and the quality is never commensurate with the bill. Last night two of us dined and the portions were enormous - each dish was enough for 4 to 6 people - and we had to box up almost everything we ordered. Afterwards I felt mostly just full and full of salt. Nothing stood out as exceptional. It was simply "fine" and "ok" and just way too expensive for that. Next time I'll go to Ospi.
Tried this place yesterday.
Food was amazingly good. If I had to complain about anything, the artichoke dish was a little salty. But their shrimp, squash flower and pastas and steaks were fresh, flavorful and cooked well. David, the somm was friendly and excellent in handling our wines.
Well I don't know what to say.
Are there the other night and am aware the chef owner is heralded to walk on water. I know he has a host of very successful restaurants. I don't want to be a downer but the experience reminded me of the fable about the kings new clothes. I feel badly about writting this but felt much worse about eating there. The ambiance is happy, casual and fulfilling and every one seemed cheerful and engaged. Too engaged to notice the food. I assume all in attendance were happy to score a reservation and a night out. I did not sample most of the menus so there is hope of a return. Focusing on what I did eat or mostly turned back I was really let down. First the special bread. The first bite is divine but to eat any more is to feel as if you are sucking on a stick of melted oil and butter. The stuffed blossoms are pretty but don't eat more than one as everyone should limit their deep fried intake. They were light enough to indulge. The special stuffed pasta again was soaked in butter and salt with salt being used as if they were trying to hide the taste of what it covered. Finally I had the cap ribeye which was ineatible. It was cooked in so much butter and salt I couldn't bear wasting a ribeye but even after recooking and trying to dry it out I just couldn't get by more than one piece. The waiter was great helpful and attentive. On the way out I passed chef Funke and had to bite my tongue and keep walking. I was expecting so much more. It's probably me and not you
Good food, attentive service, nice ambience, BUT the house
Good food, attentive service, nice ambience, BUT the house rules are really weird: to sit at the cozy bar you have to order food however if you are sitting in the bar area you can't order food Then when you are at your table you must order your entire dinner at once. So, then entrees come out at different times. I got my pasta 5 minutes before my guests got their orders. AND you need to speak Italian to navigate the wine menu.
Terrific food wonderful service.
Their Cacio e Pepe is classic. One of our go to places when we're Venice
My wife and I are on our anniversary trip to Los Angeles
My wife and I are on our anniversary trip to Los Angeles from Houston. Felix Trattoria has been on my list of restaurants for years and we were finally able to snag a reservation. The space is rustic with an informal feel to it. We were sat at a two top where my wife had a good view of the restaurant and I had a good view of my wife. We were both winners. We had a very friendly and knowledgeable server - Cara - who led us through the dining process. We had a couple of cocktails to start the night off. Joy's was a riff on a martini, and mine a riff on an old fashioned. Both balanced and tasty version of the classic. We started with the Foccacia Siciliana (Sfincione on the menu) as it was recommended in many reviews. While OK, we wouldn't order the bread again. Just a little too oily for our taste, and way too big a portion for 2 people. The artichoke crudo that we were going to order was not on the menu this night, so we went with the squash blossoms. I was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed them as much as I did. Very Very Good. We proceeded with the Roasted Prawns with Salsa Verde. Top Notch, and the aforementioned bread did come in handy to soak up the remaining salsa verde sauce. We skipped Pizza since there was just two of us and went for two pastas instead. The Tagliatelle with Bolognese and the Cacio e Pepe. The Tagliatelle was an excellent version of the classic with perfectly textured pasta, the right amount of ragu and excellently seasoned. I also really enjoyed the Cacio e Pepe that was prepared with a noodle that is thicker than spaghetti and even bucatini called Tonnarelli. Great cheese and pepper flavor. Too al dente for my wife's taste and borderline for me. Still I enjoyed it very much. For dessert we had the Budino and the chocolate gelato. Budino is our go to dessert in Italian restaurants and this one was excellent. I thought the amount of walnuts would overpower the pudding but they didn't and only added a sweet crunch to the dish. The gelato was also good. 4.5 stars due to the greasy bread and slightly al dente Tonnerelli, but add .5 stars for Cara's excellent service for a 5 Star experience!! Great job Felix!!
Delicious homemade fresh pasta
Everything was wonderful here. The waiter was attentive and informative. The homemade pastas and pizza were all excellent. The lemon linguine pasta had the right amount of tartness to keep on stimulating the taste buds. The busiate has an interesting texture and paired very well with the pistachio pesto. The tagliatelle in the bolognese was a safe choice for our table. Overall, it was a great chance to try different pasta textures and sauces.
Keep track of your leftovers...
This place came highly recommended. The squash blossoms are what we came for and they did not disappoint! We also had pizza, the bolognese and lemon asparagus pastas, and the pork with onion and black currant jam. It was all so amazing. My only complaint is that we sent our leftover pork and bolognese pasta to be boxed up as leftovers and they never returned. ๐ฅฒ The food was too expensive and too good to be tossed, but yet it was.

This is the best spot in the neighborhood , beautiful and quaint interior, super attentive staff , that are knowledgeable and provided for a great experience , we enjoyed our food and drinks here and will definitely be returning. The prawn dish is a must have.

Trendy Italian spot near Venice, we were seated into the outside area which was very comfortable. Lights were a tad bit dimmer than I would like but I think this is intentional for the ambiance. Our waitress, Kelly, was excellent and attentive. Finished plates were cleared quickly and Kelly checked in frequently if we needed anything which I appreciated. We went on a weekend night around 8pm and there was ample street parking but valet was available too Things we ordered for two people Sficione ($12) - must get, herby and salty crust with fluffy interior. Well worth the price. Prawns (Gamberi) ($35) - excellent and super flavorful. Maybe top 5 prawns Ive had. The sauce it comes in is excellent for dipping the sficione in. It is very expensive though so I don't know if I would get it again. Amalfataji Pizza ($27) - get this if youre looking for a citrusy and bright pizza. A good refreshing dish between or savory heavy course. Reasonable priced. Tagliatelle($45) - super thin pasta which makes it deceptively light. Very savory and tasty but also slightly pricier than what I would expect. Torta al Cicciolata ($18) - got this for dessert. Bittersweet chocolate with whipped cream and nuts. I liked this a lot since I am not one for sweets. Overall this is a cozy mid-upper tier Italian restaurant with a lot of flavor. Service is an easy 5 star. It is slightly more expensive than I would like which is my only reservation on giving it 5 stars overall, but it would be an easy 5 star if the menu was 10-15% cheaper.
Really awesome spot in Venice.
The bread lived up to the hype. Our pizza was very tasty and they happily accommodated our request or not char the bottom. The pesto pasta was my favorite. Would definitely make a reservation for weekends and Friday night. Ambience is very nice as well, especially if you get a view of the area where they are making the pasta.

I feel special when I get lucky enough to snag a reservation here. If it wasn't so hard, I would come as often as I could. I had one dish recently that I have to write about-- burrata and persimmon salad. Whaaaa???? So amazing. Of course, all of the pasta I have tried has been world class. Bread? Mamma Mia! Great place. Now, I will never get in.
I think I fell in love last night.
Actually, I know I'm in love. Oh Felix, you had me at Squash Blossoms and Focaccia. Then you continuously swept me off of my feet with your delectable pizza, the kind of pizza I've never had anywhere else in the world. Your doughy goodness justaposes against your spicy and flavorful meat had me begging for more this morning. Then round after round of perfectly cooked pastas sent me over the edge of absolute culinary bliss. Everything here is perfection. I'm not sure how I'm going to break it to my main chick that she's now the side piece. But love is love. And it was a culinary adventure from the moment I met Felix.
Food was great and service was awesome.
Slightly on the pricey side but otherwise everything was delicious!

Delicious bread and pasta.
Great ambience. Best spot in west Los Angeles especially in Venice.

Food was delicious! The arugula salad was one of the best arugula salads I've had. The steak was amazing! The service was excellent. Our server took her time to explain the menu and address our questions.

Hands down the best experience hosting a group of over 15 people. I reached out about 2 weeks in advance. Luciano and Caroline, the general manager and business manager were quick to communicate and were extremely accommodating. It made hosting a breeze. I was also impressed by how attentive servers were watching our table making sure everyone had a full glass of water and would frequently come by for drink orders. The food was INCREDIBLE. We tried the squash blossoms, meatballs, focaccia, pizza with lemon, ragu, cacio e Pepe, steak, and tiramisu. It's hard to choose a favorite -- but whatever you do ORDER THE FOCACCIA!! ... and the squash blossoms... and the lemon pizza if you want an interesting pizza experience... and the tiramisu was soooooo good I absolutely recommend grabbing food and drinks for a wonderful experience at Felix.
Very disappointing
The restaurant has little charm or atmosphere except loud music. The patio is a little quieter. Radicchio salad was overwhelmed by tangy dressing. Pizza was well composed but thick bready crust which was surprising. Two pastas were leaden with heavy cheese and cream. The one with guanciale (like bacon) was not eaten. Prices high though portions large. If I ever go back, would switch to tomato sauces. Service merely basic. Corkage is very high $75. No ethereal, elegant pastas here.
Sad experience !
How far the mighty have fallen. So sad to experience this restaurant in decline. The lemon pasta was so tart and lemony it was not edible. The pancetta pasta was so salty I couldn't swallow it. And the salami pasta so spicy it made me sweet. Incredibly noisy and tell me Evan why do you have to charge 75 dollars for corkage. Since you are sold out around the clock do you have to make 75 dollars pure profit to cork a bottle. I think Evan is very busy with his other new stores and hasn't bothered to taste the food here in quite some time. And the prices are just outrageous and not worth it.
Worst Birthday Dinner Ever!
Worst Birthday Dinner Ever! Made reservations and let them know was a birthday and requested a booth for 5pm. Arrived on time, well dressed, hostess seemed miserable and unfriendly. Was seated in worst tiny two top with horribly uncomfortable chairs next to the bar and under the loudspeaker playing obnoxious music. But even worse there was a window into the office next to our table with someone doing paperwork with their desk right up against our table. I wasnโt sure if they were joining us for dinner or I was about to be asked to help with a spreadsheet. On the window ledge was a stuffed rat, gave me the creeps, had other dusty trinkets. What else do they not clean? Ordered a drinks, were served in champagne glasses, drinks were literally half foam. Steak good, potatoes salty, didnโt care for the pasta. Left with a headache! Hated this place.
Great food and service
Literally everything we ordered was amazing. Great appetizers, pizza and pasta. The service was also amazing. And the recommendations were spot on.
Truly a Gem
The food and cocktails here are truly outstanding. It was their Pizza Diavola that stole the show โ a culinary masterpiece that's simply to die for!
Great food and cocktails
I am a bit taken aback at the relatively low rank of this restaurant. I would go to the extent of saying that if you are visitng/living in the area around Venice beach and have time for just 1 meal, then this is the restaurnt to go to. Superb food and cocktails, but the surprise package was the Pizza. I almost never order a Pizza in a fine dining restaurant but I was tempted by what was being served on the next table and oh boy....it was simple the best Pizza I have ever had. It was so good that I am going to upload a photo for the first time. This was the Pizza Diavola....one to die for.
Expect some attitude and fantastic pasta and pizza
A trendy restaurant, having earned its reputation over the years, and even though it's on the pricey side, we have been many times. The service on our arrival was immaculate as always. This time, however, the waiter had a tad too much school-teacher-esque attitude by our waiter celebrating himself and the fact that we could not receive our meals as ordered but they would bring them out "family style" whenever they had them ready. Please do not get me wrong: we loved the family style. The way it was presented to us: not so much. As I said: I've been a dozen or more times, never with a party of six though. The six of us loved our entrรฉes pizza and pasta (and when I say we loved we really really loved them) - however, our starters were rather meh - the BURRATA E PESCHE was not creamy at all and the POLIPO ALLA BRACE was more of a black bean salad with two small pieces of "grilled octopus" that was underwhelmingly "un-crisp" - we did not eat it, and no one cared. We will sure go again and hope they will do better next time.
Cosy atmosphere and pure quality Italian cuisine
Delicious dinner. We arrived here by accident during our holiday on the westcoast of the US. A very nice surprise discovered during our visit to Venice Beech. As a Belgian family we know how to appreciate Italian food. The pasta was al dente as it should be. The prices however were again extremely expensive. But this is how it is here: if you want to eat well as in Europe, you need to spend a lot of moneyโฆ
The best pasta Iโve ever eaten
Wow! I consider myself somewhat of a foodie. Iโve eaten in a lot of fancy restaurants in various cities around the globe in my 53 years on this planet. However - I can honestly say that Iโve never eaten pasta like this (even in Italy). Itโs the Texture! This is much more than a question of the correct al dente cooking time. Something more is going on here. That aside, the accompanying sauce and ingredients were mouth wateringly delicious ๐ I actually feel like Iโve just properly experienced great pasta for the very first time! We started our meal with a swordfish kebab. This was expertly cooked, succulent and very tasty. I couldโve eaten another plate, it was so good! There was not a free table in the house. As soon as one group of diners left, they were quickly replaced by another lot. Iโm not surprised. This place is a little gem just minutes away from Venice Beach. Great vibe, cool interior and great service. What a find on our trip to LA! Amazing ๐คฉ
It did not start out well.
One of our party members was 15 minutes late and we were offered "to wait at the bar" and would be seated when she arrived. it seemed like an extra $$$ grab, unfortunately. The greeter at the front desk was abrupt and not welcoming. We ordered a Cippolini pizza, which came to the table with a raw crust under its toppings. As not all dishes were brought to the table at the same time, one person in our party (who had food restrictions) did not get their meal until ~ 25 minutes after everyone else started eating. We asked to have a dish modified for food restrictions, but could only "take items off". Lastly, when ordering, we were told for "3" people dining, we needed to order 2 plates/person. How is it they know how much I'm going to eat? Turns out, we ordered 4 dishes and really only needed 3. Overall, it was extremely disappointing experience, especially given the reviews. Not going back.
Delicious food and great staff, my friends and I frequent
Delicious food and great staff, my friends and I frequent this facility because the atmosphere is so nice and it's just wonderful food. The service is great they course out the food perfectly so that we're never waiting for too long and they have a very nice variety of different drinks, and a great wine selection. It's always nice being inside and watching the cooks cook in their space. The interior is beautiful and really put together well, I was very happy to see during COVID they were able to utilize the outside extremely well.
The food was fantastic.
The focaccia bread looks like it would be heavy but it's so light and airy. The cacio e pepe was rich to me so I ate some of the rucola salad in between. That salad was great. My partner got the tagliatelle and he enjoyed it very much. You have to order all your food at once. My only complaint is I wish they would give you a moment to settle in before they start bombarding you with a reading, it was very overwhelming and made me annoyed. We were seated immediately, but then as soon as we sat down I was trying to hand my purse on chair and our waitress came over and said the customary hello and welcome would you like water? But here is where this went left for me. She asked if we had been there before, we said no and then she proceeds to read the ENTIRE menu to us and explain each dish. This would have been fine if it happened about 5 minutes later but again I hadn't even settled in. I was still trying to put my things "away" for lack of better word. Otherwise hostess was very nice everything was great overall and we would return.
