Favorite when in Milan.
Creative, healthy and local. Beautiful presentation, paired with stellar wines. Alice and Danilo are an amazing team!
Be the first to ReplyI arrived this Sunday after looking for a place to eat
I arrived this Sunday after looking for a place to eat outside the city. I tried to book online for lunch but was not possible. I called 2 days before (because its 25 minutes drive from the city) and they said to go without booking that there is plenty of room. I enter the place and the guy at the reception looks at me and doesn't talk, like what do you need attitude while doing other things behind the bar. Me: hello I would like a table for 3 please. The guy with an arrogant attitude and very bad manners says, we have no tables (at that moment the place was half empty). I mentioned the phone call and he say ok you can eat at 14:30 (it was 12:30). So we walk out and we see that there was a small table outside that we were willing to use anyway and adapt to the situation but when I asked the answer was No (no and that's all, the guy was talking just yes and no with the face of go away) with this look that makes you want to slap him in the face (just a feeling, not literally)After that unconformable episode we walked to the corner (100mt) and arrive to an place called Carlotta Cafè, AN AMAZING place! best fish in a trattoria I ever had. Prices are very good, the staff was very nice, talking to you with a smile and education. The antipasto sardo for two was delightful. The problem with Erba is not the place or the food, but the province people running it that after getting a little famous they think they got their 1st Michelin star. Get off your high horse bro!Ciao,

Best and most unique meal we had in Milan on every measure: food, setting, vibe, and service. We ate on the patio with our sleeping, then stroppy toddler. The atmosphere was mellow and casual enough that we all managed to enjoy our meal. I thoroughly recommend eating here if you have a car and are in the Milan area.

I don't understand the mediocre rating here, I've been here twice and enjoyed the food immensely both times. The first time I went was during winter so was quite surprised when I came back during summer that they had a wonderful back terrace overlooking the garden. Mosquitos are a bit of a problem in this town but still a great experience, makes you forget you are in a city. It's a bit of a treck to get there if you don't have a car (and italian taxis are SUPER expensive), but worth it if you're willing to spend some money. Not outrageously expensive though. I chose the blind menu both times and was delighted with the choices! High level cuisine. Friendly staff too, most speak English. Sometimes there is even live music playing indoors.

We heard about the restaurant after doing some online research, and decided to make the trek over. First you had to take MM2 to the end of the line at Abbiategrasso and then walk about 20 minutes to get to the restaurant, which is next to a canal. Hey, for great food we were willing to do that - and we were not disappointed! We made an 8pm reservation, and ended up being the first customers to arrive at the restaurant that evening. After speaking very broken Italian to get into the door, the waiters offered to explain the menu in English, as menus are not always easy to understand. Then, Alice Delcourt - the chef - came out! She was such a delight. She took the time explaining everything on the menu to us, and when we came to a vegetable called "agretti" that we had no clue about - she brought some out and gave us a taste! What fun!The meal ended up being a wonderful one, with risotto with mascarpone cheese, the "agretti" with poached egg, and then the tartine and chicken... we ended up having so much food just between the appetizer and entree that we didn't have room for dessert! Good thing we had a 20 minute walk back to the station to walk some of the food off. It's a great restaurant. Great service. Great food. It's a bit out of the way, but it is well worth the trek. I actually talked to an Italian colleague the next day and she said that is one of her favorite restaurants and wondered how I even found the place!
