great location for group dinner

A wonderful dining experience for our party of 18. The event staff, the server, busser, and hostess were positive and welcoming. Each of our chosen entree choices were phenomenal. The semi-private space was a cozy area to complete our business event. The pier location was a treat for those not from Seattle.

417. I had recently moved to Seattle and finally got a chance to explore the city with family in town. We decided to venture to the waterfront. We ordered a bunch of seafood including crab cakes, white clam chowder bowl, and oysters. Crab cakes were okay. Chowder was better. Oysters were solid. Service was good, but it was a confusing turn off to see gratuity automatically added on the bill with the server adding that they don't receive the automatic gratuity, only additional gratuity given on top of that. Um, what? Elliott's definitely gives off tourist vibes, but it's one of those places that you just gotta visit once. Bonus points if you can grab a seat on the patio or near the windows. Can't beat eating seafood by the ocean.

I love oysters!! Elliotts did not disappoint.

5/5 by 👻 @Pamela L. on 09/13/2025

They have a huge venue on pier 56 with multiple rooms. I dined outside. The waitress kindly pulled the table out to provide my husband shade. The view of Puget Sound was lovely. The waitress was knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant. I had 6 oysters: The capital was clean and sweet. The Eld Inlet was complex. It started out creamy. It then turned briny and ended with a delicate fish taste. The Fanny Bay was my favorite. It had a dank , bottom of the sea taste that flooded my palette with flavor. Ichiban was my least favorite. It was still good but it was a little earthy for my taste. Hama Hama was fantastic. It started sweet but turned briny. Miyagi was briny and finished clean. The oysters were served with two mignonette sauces. I preferred the bright effervescent flavor of the iced champagne mignonette. The cilantro jalapeño mignonette was delicious but it overpowered the oysters. I had the white clam chowder to finish. It was peppered perfectly. It had a little more onion flavor than I like. Overall it was pretty tasty. My husband had the salmon with roasted vegetables. He ordered it medium rare and it was delicious. Everything on his plate was amazing. I can't leave a review of Elliott's without addressing the 20% surcharge or tip. It's confusing. The waitress has a scripted explanation as she hands you the credit card machine. It's about the fact that she doesn't get the entire 20%. She was absolutely wonderful so we added to the 20%.

Great food, decent service and a nice view of the waterfront. My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary. No reservations but able to get in without too long of a wait. Our waitress was pretty attentive at first but as the place got busier, she rarely made it to the table, forgot to bring the dessert menu and had to flag her down for the check.

Popped in here as a local for the first time this past weekend for a lovely brunch with a friend. Very reasonably priced menu for the portions and ambiance - there's nothing like a waterfront view for dining. The service was quick, polite, and witty - I appreciate good laughs when I can get them. We both enjoy our meals - the sea bass cheeks and the prawn scampi. I'll be back!

I've reviewed Elliott's twice before, but since my last

5/5 by 👻 @Brian Z. on 09/03/2025

I've reviewed Elliott's twice before, but since my last review, I've become a regular, to the point where they seat me at my favorite table without even having to ask. The service is absolutely fantastic - half the staff greet me by name, and they are all really attentive and precise. The food is great. I'm not even a fan of oysters, but there are so many great options on the menu, I never get bored. They have some of the best clam chowder in the city, and absolutely the best fries. They have three great salads, my favorite being the spinach and smoked salmon, along with a steak salad, and the house salad. The fish and chips are great. The seasonal manila clams are great. And they have several fantastic sandwiches, including the burger and the grilled chicken. I miss the salmon rueben, but I'm sure it'll be back eventually, as they rotate through their seasonal options. And the cocktails are also outstanding, if a little pricey. The bartenders really are artists, and if you spend enough time there, they get to know you and can be pretty creative. It's nice to just sit there at lunch time and look out the window at the tour boats and ferries coming in and out. There are fire pits out on the pier, though I mostly like to eat inside in the shade. If you're really into oysters, there's an oyster bar you can sit at, otherwise, they're happy to bring whatever you want to your table. The place is huge, taking up most of Pier 56 (though the entrance is around the corner behind the wings place), but they can still get really busy, and you might find yourself waiting for a table at peak times. They include a 20% service charge, in lieu of tipping, but they're up front about it, so that doesn't bother me. It's sort of a struggle to ONLY eat at Elliott's once a week. Now I'm hungry again.

Fantastic meal and I’ll never go back

1/5 by 👻 @flatfootfoodie on 08/25/2025

My wife and I had a fantastic 20th Anniversary dinner here and we’ll never go back. As soon as I arrived, I saw a sign announcing a 20% service charge on all bills for all party sizes, which is essentially a 20% mandatory tip. I already don’t like that, but it’s our anniversary, I can ignore that nonsense and enjoy the night. Every course was fantastic. The oysters were incredible, the decor and view were excellent…everything was great. Until the server dropped the check. It’s a hefty bill (over $400), but it’s 20 years of marriage, so we splurged. Anyway, when the server dropped the bill he started giving me a speech about the service charge. It was a whole presentation. The guy was underlining details on the receipt that he wanted to draw my attention to. He proceeds to tell us “12 % goes to the waiter and 8 % to kitchen and support staff, but if you’re generous enough to leave more on this line, I get 100% of that.” So, you hit me with a mandatory 20% service charge/tip, then the waiter gives me a speech in front of my wife to guilt me into tipping more…on my anniversary?! I’m getting tired of the guilt and manipulation tactics from restaurants. You do it to me and I take my money elsewhere. It’s garbage and people need to stop going to these places. Restaurant owners seem to increasingly hate their patrons and their employees.

Great Service/ Over Salty Food

The food was heavily salted, the fresh sourdough bread was delicious, the $36 prawn dish was overcocked and dry. The lemon cheesecake was delicious. Elliott Oyster House is the nice looking place people take grandma and the visiting relative who wants seafood by the water. I know because I've been recommending it as a 30 year Seattle resident. 3/5 by 👻 @Bottomle on 07/26/2025

Great location on the sea Menu leaves a lot to be desired , a lot of fried food, they have a market serving the biggest section of seafood right next door, why not have some fruit de mer , there were choices of crabs or oysters, fine but everything else was deep fried, Dining companion ordered risotto (50 USD FOR RISOTTO, having a laugh right? For rice!) Arrived, mildly warm risotto topped with ice cold grilled prawns and scallops… not sure if they were pre cooked and meant to be heated before applying to risotto? But a VERY odd choice Fish and chips consisted of tiny bits of fish breaded and fried- why not fry one piece (sadly as from England fish and chips is a known entities) no need to chop it into tiny bits to fry fry it as one and looks more impressive Over priced, waiter was adorable, but there’s better choices

You might want to skip this place. There are plenty of other restaurants nearby.

2/5 by 👻 @khiservice on 07/21/2025

The restaurant looked inviting after getting off a harbor cruise. Outside seating and nice setting next to the water. You are met with a sign that they charge a mandatory 20% service charge and that the waiters earn a 12% commission on sales. You can tip on top of the service charge and the waiters receive all of that. Ordering was easy but, twice, we were brought someone else’s food. Another time someone else’s drink was put on the table. When our order was finally delivered, one of the dishes was not what was ordered. Rather than make a fuss that person just ate the wrong food (which was more expensive). The food was tasty, no doubt about that. That was about the only redeeming quality. When it was time to pay the waiter ran my credit card and didn’t leave a pen to complete and sign. I went to the front desk to get a pen and they didn’t have one either. And the desk didn’t attempt to find one. Finally I grabbed the waiter to get a pen. At the prices charged, it seemed like too many mistakes were make, or they were just very inattentive.

Seafood in Seattle

5/5 by 👻 @judgerch on 07/21/2025

First trip to Seattle and wanted some good seafood and was not disappointed. For apps got the spicy shrimp that were flash fried and crab &corn chowder. Both were amazing. For entrees we ordered the prawn/scallops with bacon risotto and grilled halibut. Both were ample in size and very tasty. We sat outside and watched the sailboats and ferries in the bay. The star of the show were the apps but the entrees were a close second. The meals were a bit pricey and the tipping process a bit confusing but this was definitely a restaurant we will tell others about.

Plus there is a 20% surcharge added to your bill that goes directly to the restaurant. This is above any tip that you choose to reward the wait staff. Plus we asked the manager to lower the sunshade to block the afternoon sun and denied our request. This was the first restaurant we tried in Seattle after taking the city cruise that is literally at the adjacent pier. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and upon arrival the hostess asked us which we preferred. After spending an hour on the cruise in the sun, we decided to sit indoors. We were greeted with water and menus and the service was excellent. The crab cake was a little bit small but it was filled with sweet crab meat. Both chowders were delicious so you can't go wrong with either. In terms of entrees, i would skip the king salmon but i highly recommend getting the scallops with risotto. They had many choices for desserts but by that time we were very full so we shared the creme brulee. Highly recommend this restaurant for tourists and locals alike.

i recently dined at Elliott's Oyster House and had a wonderful experience! the service provided by Francesca was exceptional--she was attentive, friendly, and made sure our dining experience was perfect from start to finish. i'm always a little confused when ordering oysters, but i know the flavor profiles that i enjoy, so i let Francesca know what i like and let her order for me! which was the right choice because i ended up ordering more of the ones she picked for me! all the food we ordered was absolutely delicious. i did find the 20% service charge to be very confusing. as a server myself, clear communication regarding tips is very important -and the way the 20% service charge is currently explained on the menu and website is a bit unclear. it's not obvious whether guests should still tip their server on top of this charge or if it covers the gratuity. despite the confusion, my friends and i had a great time and would recommend Elliott's!

The service.... Well we came in as a party of 9 including one baby, at 12:30 on a Friday. We waited at the door for 15-20 min or so. (No reservations, that's on us.) we were seated waaaay in a back room and given water and menus, and waited about thirty minutes until a staff member happened in and I let him know we were ready to order anytime. Several minutes later a very embarrassed server came back and profusely apologized, stating front staff never told him he had a table back there. He then brought the manager who also apologized and said we would be comped appetizers as an apology. The service and food were fine from that point on.

20% Service Fee BEFORE server tipping is a TERRIBLE business model

2/5 by 👻 @Steve A on 07/03/2024

While this is a wonderful location with good food… charging a 20% service fee that specifically states “it goes 100% to the company and not the servers” and results in the servers advising customers that they don’t receive a tip unless you leave extra $$$$ is rude and offensive to both customers and servers. This is a high volume / high $$ restaurant who’s business model has been designed to increase the companies bottom line by adding a mandatory svc charge and hoping customers feel sympathetic (which they do) to leave another 20% for the servers resulting in a ridiculously inflated bill… THAT’S JUST WRONG!!!! Please select another establishment as this behavior should not be accepted!!!

Food was OK, prices were high but comparable with other restaurants serving fresh fish on a pier . We booked in advance hoping for a view table but were seated in a back area and it was very loud. We had read reviews about the 20% charge that is not a tip for the server and read about it in the website, but it is still uncomfortable at the end of the meal when the server tells you he’s not getting a tip and then guests have to decide if they will give an additional 20%, no tip, or ask for the 20% to be removed. Hope the restaurant is reading the reviewer comments and can figure out a way to take care of the servers that doesn’t create a lesser experience for the guests.

The food and service was excellent. The waiter did an excellent job of curating the menu and assisting us with the food selection. He was courteous and funny. Trouble occurred when the check came with a 20% service fee that was not for the waiter. The waiter politely explained the “scan fee” -and confirmed that he did not receive any part of the service fee. That Service charge ruined the wonderful experience. The restaurant should disclose such fees upfront rather than surprising customers at the end. For a meal that included two king legs, a dozen oysters, an old fashioned, and sparkling water, totaling $330, the overall value just wasn't there.

I booked an early reservation at 4:30 after last year not being able to get in without one. That said the wait without was only 40 min even though they had open tables. Suspect it was a waiter issue. The hostess seemed flustered. She asked me to wait to be seated. However she kept seating people who came in after me. When asked if she had forgotten about me she said she was waiting for the waiter to check in. Maybe there was a shift change going on? It was all very confusing. I ordered an OR pinot noir for $17, a Caesar salad, and the King red crab for $135. Very pricey. I can get it in other major cities for $80-100. The food was good as well as the service. I finished with dessert of a guiness chocolate cheese cake. Felt more like a mouse. The tipping is confusing. There is an automatic 20% service charge as the waiters are paid on commission. You can leave extra but it is unclear if you need to to keep the waiter whole. $250 later even though overall a good experience, I just am not sure if I will be back.

Nice view, however, the service we've received the last 2

2/5 by 👻 @Lisa S. on 03/19/2024

Nice view, however, the service we've received the last 2 visits at Elliot's were pretty disappointing. We stopped in last weekend and waited at the bar for a table to open up. He ordered an espresso martini + the bartender made myself a really great cocktail with vodka, blueberry purée and an egg. It was delicious and so was the espresso martini. I asked what kind of vodka he was using and he said Tito's which is what I was going to request. We were going to order crab cakes and another cocktail but none of the bar staff ever asked if we wanted another round or an appetizer while we waited. They also never called our name for a table so we had to go back to the hostess and get re-added to the list. The hostess said she could get us a table in 5 minutes but we ended up sitting at the bar for another 20 minutes waiting with no staff servicing us so we decided to leave. I'm glad we did because our tab was $53. The check had 2 Belvedere which definitely costs more than Tito's... it had 20% gratuity already added which I think is a little strange for a bar tab. We ended up just going to the wing spot next door to get wings and a beer because we had waited nearly 90 minutes and were starving. The time before last we also sat at the bar while waiting for a table which took a very long time as well but we waited it out and were finally seated outside. The hostess sat us at a table right next to the trash and bus cart so we asked if we could move to the table across from us. The hostess said we couldn't be seated there and that there were no other tables available but within 5-7 minutes she had sat 2 other parties in tables close to us. We waited at our table for a good 20 minutes before getting any water or service and the food was underwhelming. I understand that it's a busy waterfront restaurant but the experience overall has sucked. We thought maybe last weekend was going to be a better experience but unfortunately it was not. 2 stars for the tasty cocktails.

Went here for lunch with 3 colleagues.

It's a beautiful setting overlooking the sound. We shared some oysters - waiter's recommendation- and we each had the Dungeness crab, recommended as a local favorite. The oysters were delicious. The crab was good, except the temperature was not hot enough. We had asked our waiter for extra drawn butter and planned to tell him about the food needing to be heated, but he never returned with the butter. Since our entrees were more than $60, we felt we should have had perfection on our plates. Also, they automatically add 20% gratuity, and we never got our extra butter.

Delicious, fresh seafood in a high-end atmosphere.

5/5 by 👻 @Hannah C. on 03/11/2024

Indoor seating as well as outdoor dock-side tables. Be prepared to splurge, however the quality is top-notch. Service has been excellent each time I have visited with my husband on 3 prior trips to Seattle. Recommend making a reservation ahead of time, there is an online reservation tool on their website. A word of caution - this restaurant adds a 20% service charge to your bill in lieu of traditional tip. According to the restaurant, tips are "not required" on top of the service charge that allows them to pay their staff a competitive wage. We chose to tip on top of the service charge, which put a bit of a strain on our dining out budget. All in all, I feel the food and experience are worth the price tag.

Waited 10+ minutes to get seated, in a half empty

1/5 by 👻 @Doug G. on 03/10/2024

Waited 10+ minutes to get seated, in a half empty restaurant . 6 staff standing around having a way better time chatting than doing their job. Server was good but so close and in my face I think she wanted to join me, despite any hint of an invitation! DON'T call me 'love' this is not a whore house! Had a prawn cocktail with bland, tasteless, pasty white prawns. This was followed by the entree King salmon; It was tragically overcooked and served with a bunch of mushy vegetables ...meh. A couple of glasses of wine, the second glass was from a bottle brought from the bar; a generous pour, thank you! Food totally a miss, restaurant full of ill behaved children, location nice some views. The server told me the 20% surcharge already added to the bill, was 'held by the house' . So now on top of overpriced bad food there is a 20% surcharge and a beg for a further additional tip??.....get a grip! Hey Joe??? Let's get going on removing those junk fees!! For certain not a repeat in my books. Hello Seattle people, please (PLEASE!!!) help me find a decent meal in Seattle / Bellevue; here often and have yet to find any thing past a 4/10

I wanted to check this place out while in Seattle as it had

4/5 by 👻 @Kurt M. on 03/10/2024

I wanted to check this place out while in Seattle as it had a ton of (pretty good) reviews. It looks like a place that's been around quite a while. Rustic yet very clean. The staff was extremely pleasant, but a little slow xonsidering not a lot of customers were here at 5pm (I guess somewhat my fault because I was in a hurry). I tried several raw oysters and their apple blue cheese cooked oysters as well as their white clam chowder. Their bar looked super cool with TONS of selections (although I didn't partake this time around) I would definitely recommend checking them out.

I've only had raw oysters a small handful of times and only

5/5 by 👻 @Marisa Y. on 03/04/2024

I've only had raw oysters a small handful of times and only recently learned to appreciate the taste. I used to never be a fan of raw oysters, but that was before I tried good oysters. Our server was really helpful in recommending us a good selection oysters that ranged from flavor profiles to sweet and briny. It was a great learning experience and I definitely enjoyed the oysters here. Quite expensive for a dozen oysters but it was definitely worth trying if you're visiting Seattle.

Lovely lunch at Elliott's Oyster House on Pier 55. Great oysters, fish and chips and delicious crab cakes. Enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace tables watching the world and boats go by - perfect lunchtime stop in between sightseeing.

* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Elliott's Oyster House Seattle!
