Fun-Time
I visited this establishment(3/18/23) as pre-birthday brunch for my teenager. This facility requires a line outside of the restaurant due to the fact you cannot book it in advance. This place is known for the waitstaff sings Broadway tunes while you eat. The wait time was less than half an hour. It was me and my son. We were seated near the area/stage where they perform. Our waiter Merrick perform while attending our table and he and the others did a phenomenal job. They really do sing through while you are eating with no stopping but for a minute to introduce the next person. P.S Our meal was quite lovely. Greatly enjoyed.
Be the first to ReplyMemorable experience but disappointing food!!
I am giving this bar 5* based on the entertainment and service rather than the food itself. We visited this diner on the final morning of our trip - there was a small que outside the diner at approximately 8:30am however we were in and seated within 5 minutes. Tables for 2 are extremely small and it’s impossible to be seated without having the table pulled out. The food was expensive but not dissimilar to other bars/diners in the Times Square area. The food would have been amazing if it was hot - I order the holy moly French toast which was tasty but cold!! My friend ordered the eggs Benedict and was disappointed with this as again cold!! The atmosphere in the diner is electric and the servers themselves were fantastic entertainers especially Brian!! A very memorable experience which I would highly recommend when visiting NYC!!

This place is just awesome, the queue can feel like your waiting an eternity to get in. Once you get seated you’re quickly served and the food is ok. The entertainment is brilliant with outstanding singers and performances. If you’re in NYC a must see.

This was a fun experience. The wait staff sings while working. We were included in 2 performances. The food was good and staff were friendly. There is an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill and they also accept tips in a bucket, which they took around to tables. I would recommend a visit here if visiting NYC.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience but a little overhyped….
After being recommended Ellen’s by some friends we were really excited to visit, however we’re unfortunately underwhelmed. Food was average - the meat in the Philly cheese steak would be classed as nearer kebab meat in the UK but was alright. The singing was great and there was some really talented individuals & the commentary was funny from the main host. Although the continued request for tips got a bit grating - the first time they came round with the bucket we were more than happy to put some in, however by the second and third time it had started to rub us the wrong way. They also don’t seem very happy to be singing? - I’m sure it must get old day in day out but it doesn’t really help sell the fantasy.

First time in NYC and after seeing Tik Tok videos on this diner we thought to try- Brilliant! Lovely food and entertainment. The staff can singggggg! Cheerful and happy place to go, instantly lifts your mood and service as spot on - will be back again

Food was less mediocre. Watch out for the onions they put a ton on and there really greasy. Most of the time it’s some guy talking about his failed acting career and asking for tips. The ice cream is ok nothing special and the service is kinda bad when they don’t give you straws and they are singing instead of bringing your sauce. 4/10

No queues on a winters day in March. Great singers, food and atmosphere. A must venue to attend if you love musical theatre.
Be the first to ReplyBest night of our trip!
Absolutely hands down the highlight of our week in New York! What an amazing place, supporting the arts and putting on a fantastic show! The food was delicious, the service perfect and the entertainment was out of this world. Such a wonderful place! Our server Edo nailed a raukus rendition of the King’s song from Hamilton and our favorite ever Elton John song, the server who sung from Waitress was absolutely amazing, and one rocked a song from Six. The whole evening was so much fun and it felt great to know we are supporting these phenomenal performer’s careers as well. When the glittery bucket comes around, don’t be stingy! We supported at least 2 dance classes and were thrilled to do so. The emcee was fantastic and really kept the energy going as well. Do not miss an opportunity to check it out if you are in the city!
Be the first to ReplyEntertainment great
The entertainment is great and constant throughout whilst you eat the very poor food. High price tag for Luke warm food and poorly presented and poorly cooked. Buckets come round for tips for the singers who are also the waiting staff who also get tips for food Service!!!! $55 for breakfast. Good atmosphere but cold.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the money!
With most of NYC distracted by the St Patrick’s parade we visited Ellen Stardust to find a very short waiting line. Yes the singing is unique but at $70 (inc service) for two sandwiches and a plate of nachos it’s very expensive. When the food arrived the portion sizes are huge and on reflection we should have ordered half for the two of us, the food itself was awful (probably the worst we had during our whole 6 day trip) Summary: overpriced cold tasteless food with show tunes… would not recommend.

Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely fun!
Wasn't sure after reading the reviews but sooo glad we went. Our family had a wonderful time! The staff sing almost constantly and were really, really good. The food was usual diner fare and quality but we were going for the entertainment and experience and were not let down. The food was still fine but it is a diner after all. We went early for breakfast as the wait line gets longer in the evening. Highly recommend Ellen's.
Be the first to ReplyGreat concept!!
Great concept. Food was great, staff were very friendly. Had to wait 45+ mins to get in. I think maybe a booking/deposit system would work much better. Some of the staff had amazing voices, so talented! Does get a bit repetitive if you spend over an hour in there as they ask for donations every hour. However, if you donate once, they are not pushy. Thanks team!
Be the first to ReplyFood terrible but great time
The singing and experience was fantastic, the place was great for that. We waited about 15 minutes to get in which looking at the queue every other day was good. Food on the other hand is terrible, I had a philli cheese steak and it was awful. The chicken wings starter was the only thing that was remotely edible. Having said that really enjoyed the experience
Be the first to ReplyLots of fun and the food isn't bad either!
My 11 yo granddaughter had her heart set on dining here as she had heard all about it. It was a cold and rainy weekend. We tried to eat here Friday night around 7pm but the line was way too long. We tried again Saturday around lunch time and again the line was looooong and it was raining and cold. But we decided to get in line. Our wait was a little over 60 minutes but it was worth it. Entertainment was fun! and the food was pretty good! They asked for donations in addition to the meal cost. I'm sure someone has thought seriously and made the decision to not take reservations but I would have enjoyed it soooo much more if we hadn't had to wait that long in the cold and rain.
