We liked our lunch here, and it was the ONLY meal in the Grand Canyon that was edible. In fact, it was a relief to eat good food! Thank you, El Tovar!

This place reminds me of places my Dad loved and took me to as a kid. Big logs and a fireplace in the dining room. We both had the ham, mushroom and Gruyère omelet with fruit and toast. The food was tasty and the coffee was tasty. The service was perfect. We would be returning for dinner but they are booked up. No worries we were just glad to check it out!

We were able to get a reservation for lunch for our 15 yr anniversary. They sat us by the canyon and it was so beautiful. I got the Quiche and Soup of the Day which was delicious. My husband got the Chicken Club sandwich. Everything tasted really good. Our waiter, Kaleb, wasn't the best, we had to keep stopping him and asking for a straw or refill, but I'm still giving it 5 stars because the food and ambiance was spot on.

Our expectations were high for this iconic restaurant but we were very disappointed. Our breakfast was poor. The acai bowls served were like soup with very little substance. My Benedict egg was disgustingly underdone. I returned it and waited over 30 minutes for a replacement that never came. We tried again at dinner recognizing they had been very busy that morning. The dinner was terrible. The soup and salad were both unbelievablely salty and my husband's expensive steak was ridiculously tough. The only positive thing I have to say about our meals here was that the wait staff were all pleasant.

Would recommend the French Onion Soup. The kids loved their 4 dollar spaghetti. The adult meals were a solid just ok. We learned that 2 Presents and a Beatle have eaten here. We rate it it one Ringo Starr.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the most American classic you can possibly ask for.
A real slice of Americana wrapped up in one of the most spectacular place G-d ever made in this country. Impeccable service, food and libations... A must do at least once in your life...like no other restaurant I've been to anywhere else. We were treated like royalty ... Highly recommended and will come back in 2023 for 2 weeks at hotel.

Jordan and Chris were our serving team for a late lunch here. The already rustic and cozy feel was amplified by the spates of hail hitting the roof in early March. The food ranged from excellent to awesome, with only one peril...I doubt any other food at the Grand Canyon could measure up to this high quality food. Kids' meals were very affordable, and yet somehow made out of real food, not overly-processed bullish!t. The French onion burger was bliss on a bun, and the green chili & sausage quiche was really great. We finished with mini sundaes for the kids and chocolate crème brûlée for the adults.
Be the first to ReplyService was good we had a large group.
Food was average, under seasoned, someone's chicken at our table was reported dry. Server had an issue with splitting the check and five ways with credit cards.Earlier in the day the bar at the next hotel over complained to a coworker that every time they eat at "ETD" they got sick and later on I connected the dots that they were using initials instead of saying the name. Our group had lamb, chicken, duck, pork chop, salads, soup, and dessert.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good and well prepared.
Not a large menu but definitely adequate. Service was excellent. Prices are slightly high but then you have to realize where you are. Biggest complaint is the vacuuming that started shortly after 9pm. It kind of killed the fine dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyFirst let me start by saying this is a pricey place.
The staff were awesome and engaging. They seamed happy to be able to serve you. The food was awesome. I had the Salmon, my wife had the ribeye. Both were awesome. My wife especially like the carrots. The room was quite but not dead, you know what I mean if you have ever been to a dead restaurant. Very nice ambiance. Let me end by saying again that it is pricey but, I would do this over and over again. Well done.

Ashley has to make your drinks ! Ashley is the GOAT of drinks here . I hope you get a chance to get a cocktail made by her. She's a seasonal employee but I I hope you catch her. She's made me some of the best cocktails and I've worked in the bar industry and have traveled across the states. Even the employee's here will tell and know the difference between and Ashley made drinks and somebody else.

It was our second visit to the Grand Canyon, but we had never eaten in the El Tovar dining room, mainly because of its atmosphere. We made reservations earlier in the day, or maybe the day before, for a specific time. After spending some time in the gift shop, we were ushered into the dining room.To our complete surprise, and delight, we were taken to a private room to enjoy our meal. It's called the Roosevelt Room, named after Teddy Roosevelt, who actually dined there, as have both presidents Bush, Elvis Presley, and Paul McCartney, to name a few.We were there for lunch, so nothing heavy. I had a bacon burger, and my wife had shrimp something. Our daughter and three of our grandchildren were with us, and we all thought it was special to be eating in this private dining room. We could even close the doors for more privacy if we wanted. The sound from the main room was minimal, so we were able to carry on conversation in normal voices, which was nice. The food was good, not amazing, but good. Perhaps supper brings a more diverse and tasty menu. I don't know. I do know we got a kick out of being treated so special for no special reason, and besides bragging rights, we have fond memories of that meal and our visit to the Grand Canyon.
