The chefs tasting menu is an experience to have.
Upgrade to include the wagyu, it is definitely worth it. This is a great date and special occasion place

The lighting is perfect; no one wants to eat under fluorescent lights. The music was great and I would definitely come back!
Be the first to ReplyEverything was excellent.
the only complaint i can make is the lighting, it was kind of hard to see but i also didn't have my glasses so that was more or less on me. our waitress was excellent, she made recommendations to us and didn't feel like she was trying to upsell us on anything. and the food, some of the best i have had. everything was delicious. from the first order of sashimi to the desert, i wasn't disappointed.

Went here based on recommendations as something different to try while in the city. We got a variety of items. Our favorites were the sea bass, baked spicy scallop and crab, and the eggplant. Sea bass melted in your mouth. We felt the lobster tail was dry and wouldn't recommend. Downstairs had a speak easy vibe. Waiter was friendly. Service seems to be a focus here.

Loved the taster and the drinks! Staff is friendly and professional! Ice cream is to die for
Be the first to ReplyHad the best dinner tonight here.
Food and drinks were delicious but really set our experience over the top was the impeccable service. Olivia struck the perfect balance of attentiveness and letting my friend and I enjoy the meal and our conversation. Her level of service was exceptional and I will do my best to come back again when back in town. Thank you!

Food: delicious and ingenious sashimi and sushi selections; a bit pricey yet the quality is worth it Service: friendly, helpful, attentive Ambiance: basement dine-in area is quite dark so get ready for some dim lighting...the mood is right but maybe not when you have a hard time reading the menu...the bathrooms are also communal and dark...

Had one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had doing the chefs tasting menu here! Tried so many new things and they all had great flavors. Some favorites were the waygu soup dumplings, the sea bass, the hanger steak robatayaki, and the Japanese fried chicken! Highly recommend as a romantic date night spot.

Food was amazing and customer service was great. One of the best places in PA
Be the first to ReplyOne of my all time favorites.
Service is exceptional and noteworthy! Every dish I try here never disappoints and it's a great place to try something new :) Great two person dinner spot!
Be the first to ReplyIn a nutshell this place is an experience.
To get into the weeds, this restaurant (especially in their lower level dining area) has a dark and moody but pleasantly inviting ambiance. The food is top notch, typically the chefs tasting menu is what I get every time i go, which is to say you and another person get a 10 course meal for essentially $70 per person; An amazing deal. The servers here are also great. Between the numerous times I've been here, I have never gotten a server that seemed too cool or too busy to assist and take my order. If you're thinking of coming here or are on the fence, this is your sign to just call and make reservations today.

Funny that the word "knot" is used, as both the service and food are disjointed. Underwhelming food and service. The venue also leaves a lot to be desired, having an ambiance closer to a sports bar than the trendy asian fusion restaurant it strives to be. I suppose if you appeal to the lowest common denominator, you may find success, but that has to tempered against the objectively poor quality of the food, saying nothing of the service. The only thing this has over a Chinatown establishment is the familiarity that comes with a Western etiquette.

Shared a dark but tasty meal here with a good friend when I was in town. Thankfully he made reservations for this extremely popular spot. Unfortunately we were seated nearly 30min after our reservation. Obviously no one wants to be rushed out of a meal (and we certainly were not once seated) but the pacing of dishes out of the kitchen was most likely to blame....so relax, order another drink and enjoy the vibe. We sat in the downstairs izakaya at the bar so we got to see all the delicious dishes being prepped --over jumping fires and neon-lit sushi stations. I opted for their take on a negroni where the glass was primed with an ethanol distilled mushroom reduction that was lit on fire in front of us. The subtle umami left behind really helped round out a drink that some (not me) find on the bitter side. My friend got the classic cedar smoked old fashioned. Who doesn't like table side fire. DRAMA!! We opted to create our own Omakase as we are both big-boys and weren't down with "portion sized-down for a flight" that most Omakases turn out to be. The hits were the hamachi, the crispy and rich duck scrapple baos, and the skewers, specifically: the scallops which were left fat (huge) and succulent, the short-ribs which were also perfectly cooked medium and juicy and the enoki mushrooms that were grilled crispy and delicious. Honorable mention goes to the edamame dumplings which while tasty have a VERY unique consistency (a bit mealy). As a second drink I got a glass of sake which was a nice pairing option with the skewers. The large format dishes weren't very memorable and in many ways, the final bill always modifies how one perceives the taste-value ratio. Great date spot and I'd love to return for some of their sushi dishes and more skewers.

Super nice, creative cocktails, easily to accommodate your requests, good food, good service, hipster spot, great for a drink or two before another place or to spend the night. I'd go back.

Two words: edamame dumplings My fav restaurant in the city, Double Knot showcases a cocktail lounge as well as an underground izakaya where you can choose from their happy hour, a la carte, or chef's tasting menus. I love their robotayakis, spicy tuna rolls, & albacore tataki Pro tip: Their happy hour is one of the best in Philly but it's walk-in only; go early on a weekday to avoid a huge line!
Be the first to ReplyI have been a patron of double knot/sampan/and graffiti bar
I have been a patron of double knot/sampan/and graffiti bar since this location opened I can only assume 10 or more years ago. The other night, after again, patronizing this establishment for the Nth time (you are quite quite welcome), I was inappropriately, and illegally PHYSICALLY removed, on order of the person shown below from my recording of this ridiculous situation. I had spent the evening upstairs without incident (not to mention on multiple occasions as of recent) left and and thereafter came back and went downstairs to visit a friend. I was injured in both legs, my left shoulder, my sterling necklace with double eagle pendant representing my heritage I have owned for 20+ years with utmost sentimental value was ripped off my neck and is gone, favorite pair of jeans purchased in Denmark torn (along with my leg cut below the knee), and one of my Galaxy Buds Pro 2 ear pieces is gone. Hire people who have a CLEAR understanding when it is NOT OK to put their hands on people. This is absolutely unacceptable and was recorded by myself when I realized your staff was getting out of line. I have made a police report and will be pursuing an assault and battery case, both criminal and civil against this establishment. If this "place" cannot hire competent people, and do this to a 10+ year patron who has spent well over 2K in patronage over the years, there is nothing else to say about the Schulson Collective (the corporation that owns it, run by CEO Michael Schulson, who ALSO operates HARP AND CROWN, ALPEN ROSE, VIA LOCUSTA, GUISEPPE AND SONS, PRUNELLA, INDEPENDENCE BEER GARDEN, and SAMUEL'S in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). Thank you for retaining the meat-head , untrained, bearded bully man I am posting screenshots of from my video footage, and mind you, in which I am not reacting in any sort of manner that called for this illegal behavior. **The incident was recorded, save until I was NO LONGER ABLE to do so after being even further assaulted while not resisting whatsoever and became unable to use my phone. Cheers, thanks a bunch!
Be the first to ReplyDouble Knot is one of my favorites in the city for good
Double Knot is one of my favorites in the city for good reason - consistency. After coming here more than 20 times in the last 10 years, I've never had a bad experience! Service is always courteous and time efficient. The happy hour menu hasn't really changed in several years thankfully, as almost every item is a hit. My husband and I went this past week for happy hour. We thoroughly enjoyed the edamame dumplings (2 orders), kimchee fried rice, mushroom lo mein, Kobe sliders, short rib robotayaki, and crab Rangoon. My husband ordered a gin drink which he said was okay. Our total bill was ~$60 which is an amazing deal for the amount of food we ordered. We did get the mochi ice cream for dessert which was forgettable. But overall, a wonderful experience.

Cute spot! I can totally see people coming for the vibes and interior design. It's perfect for a date night spot. We had rezzies booked a few days prior to coming in and they double checked that we'd be attending on the day of.What we ordered:- Braised short ribs: this was good- Black cod fried rice: way too salty, we only had 2 bites and couldn't eat the rest- Duck scrapple baos: our fav item of the night - Octopus: a bit over cooked so it was chewy- Double knot big eye tuna: decent- Broiled seabass: decent- Enoki: our second fav itemService was great! Our server was nice and attentive.Overall, experience was ok. I'd come back for drinks and maybe the duck bao and enoki. But it's not something I'd be craving.
Be the first to ReplyI can't give this place a higher recommendation.
Everything was amazing. We came into Philly to see the flower show and a local friend of mine mentioned this place would be cute for dinner. WELL. Everything was amazing! We split edamame beans, and spicy scallop and crab. For my individual I got scallop and short rib robatayaki. My friend got hanger steak and salmon Ee both asked for seconds of our hanger steak and short rib. We then split mochi icecream and chocolate icecream with coffee jelly. Hazel was our waiter, he was super knowledgeable and friendly. My friend had wine and I had their take on a gin and tonic. I am contemplating going back to Philly just to have this meal.
Be the first to ReplyThis is probably one of my new favorite restaurants.
My fiancรฉ and I came here for our anniversary and we absolutely LOVED it. We did the tasting menu where you were allowed to pick one item from each category and let me tell you, we were stuffed. We actually had so much food left over we had lunch the next day. Everything was absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed the skewered meats (rib eye scallion & short rib were so good) robotayaki, the sushi, and the pork tonkatsu don. Honestly, we enjoyed every single dish, it was phenomenal. Our server was super friendly and gave great suggestions. The restaurant is the perfect date night spot, super moody and cozy. I can't rave enough about how much we loved double knot!
Be the first to ReplyBest dinner spot in Philly from my experience.
