My order was late night as I work late and needed an order for lunch there weren't many options open I chose this restaurant the issue I have is with the chicken the popcorn chicken I was expecting some spicy taste from the chili and tenderness but the flavor wasn't there the chicken was hard and dry it was so hard when it arrived even though I'm only 0.4miles from the restaurant I have no clue as to why it was barely warm and dry but I tossed it out it's a 20$ flush but the boba tea wasn't half bad I would be careful what menu item is ordered based on the results

This restaurant offers a delectable fusion of modern Chinese cuisine with inventive flair. The desserts here are as visually appealing as they are tasty. The ginger bean sprout noodles stand out as my personal favorite - a seemingly simple dish that's incredibly flavorful. The ambiance inside is uniquely cozy, setting it apart from anything else in Chinatown, complemented by lively and enjoyable music. The staff are exceptionally welcoming. Additionally, for those looking to pick up some Asian bakery treats, there's a convenient bakery attached to the restaurant. This spot has been featured on the Food Network multiple times, making it a fantastic choice for either a casual snack or a full dining experience.

What a fun menu! Modern twist on Asian classics and then some. How about some boozy boba? You betcha, that's on the menu. Capri Sun style pouches with juices and soju...yep, got that too. So it's not only about the food at this cool restaurant. Located in the heart of Chinatown, it's the place to be for lunch, dinner or drinks galore. This was my first time dining here and there'll be many firsts each visit in the future. The menu was quite extensive and there were many classic noodle and rice plates but with a spin. The rave was the cubed toast but I couldn't resist ordering other goodies. Really, I wanted to order half of it just to try. Ha ha The goods I did get: - kimchi noodles with pork belly. Nice amount of heat in this dish. The noodles were delicious and topped with pieces of pork belly that had the right amount of fat and meat ratio. It's an awesome dish. - Shin ramen stir fry, yep - served with the tub looking like the noodles spilled onto the plate. It's just too cute. Very savory and comes topped with assorted vegetables. - poutine and cheese (secret ingredient I couldn't figure out), some kind of cream sauce added to this melty goodness. There's a nice cheese pull on this dish. - Spam and egg sandwich, sounds simple enough but it's next level...a sweet glaze was used on this that compliments the Spam. Don't like spam? No problem, you can choose ham, bacon or skip the meat. Drinks were all fantastic: we had a Yuzu, a lemon, and a matcha drink. The Thai Iced Tea didn't disappoint. Will totally return next time I'm in Boston again, hopefully with more peeps so I can sample more food. This is a must try!
Be the first to ReplyI've only been here once on a very late night.
It is open until 4 AM Fri-Sun, which makes it a popular spot for (drunk) college students. The menu caters to that demographic too, as this is far from a fine dining establishment. The menu items have creative names, which reflect the uniqueness/quirkiness of the food here. I tried the Cola wings, which were a miss for me, as I thought the aftertaste was weird. In general, the food here does not appeal to me because it sounds too unhealthy (which is in line with the name of the restaurant), but I can see how this food would be comforting for some (e.g., spam resonates with those who just prefer cheap eats). Double Chin is a staple in Chinatown Boston, though, so it is worth at least a one-time visit.

I've only ever came here after dinner for drinks and deserts and my review will be based on that. This establishment has a lot of fun drinks. I've tried the soju roulette, the fishbowl drinks, and other soju/saka cocktails. All of them are flavorful but aren't that strong, something to take into consideration. If you have a sweet tooth, this place is for you. Their desert options are quite decadent and filling. I've orders their signature deserts and it is something you definitely have to share with another person. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but it is something nice to snack on while drinking. I've also tried their spam fries which were ok. The interior feels almost like a cafe. There are these vine lines when you walk into the establishment and even a bakery attached to the restaurant as well. It was quite pleasant, especially for a place to chill after dinner. The service was professional and efficient. They were quite busy the night I went with some friends. For large groups, they do ask for a $15 per person minimum spending which is something to take into consideration as well. Overall, if you like sweets or need a place to chill after dinner, this is an option for you!

One good thing about this place is that it is open late so it's available after a boozy night and beggars can't be choosers. There was some type of Korean fusion going on in this restaurant as I saw a lot of Korean-type dishes, but to be honest, if you want Korean food, I'll suggest you find another place cause there's no authenticity in the taste of the cuisine and it has a weird tang. The service was decent and the place in itself is a cafeteria type setting. This is not a place I would recommend to anyone in terms of food, but if you're hungry and there's nowhere else to go, it'll do.

Can't believe I'm rating this spot as low as this, but man, have the times changed because this place used to be oh so much better. Food was alright, but the atmosphere seemed messier than it used to be. Plus, the server was a bit rude to my group tonight - especially pushing us to order much more, as we were told about needing to have a "$15 minimum per person" just when we were trying to order, which seemed pretty forced as the server just kept pushing and pushing us to order more. For the most frustrating thing, there was a non-negotiable 20% minimum tip based on the original price of our order, even after the 10% cash discount... even if we were a little bit short on change to make the 23 cents that we owed from the non-negotiable amount. All in all, I would probably not come back again any time soon because of this experience - even if I've been coming to this place on and off for years.
Be the first to ReplyTrendy menu with many options to choose from.
The peanut salad smelled very off (tbh, it had a sewage odor which was off-putting) and tasted way too sweet and the texture of the sauce was gritty and that was hard to get around. The spicy chicken sandwich was pretty good. Was expecting spicy and sweet since the bun is from a pineapple bun, but the radishes gave it more of a sour taste. Not bad but different. The duck flatbread was so good though and the lobster rangoons were very crispy and light. Not sure if I liked the applesauce that went alongside the rangoons--it was a bit sour and didn't counterbalance the cream cheese as well as it should have.

All good we had was excellent - cauliflower special, chicken curry and seafood fried rice. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere - much nicer than many other places in Chinatown. Prices a little higher than some places but worth it

I came here at the end of a night out - ravenous for some comfort Chinese food! Kudos to them for food that comes out quickly and hot. The service was fast and efficient - which was good because it was crowded! The food to me was just fine. The popcorn chicken was a little dry - definitely hadn't been made fresh to order. Rangoons were solid and the dumplings were fine - just a little plain

TLDR: I would consider this a hidden gem in China Town - not necessarily for the taste of the food but for the creativity of the dishes. The restaurant has a homey feel to it that is great for small parties or family gatherings. As it specializes in Asian fusion foods, be prepared to try some excellent/interesting combinations of food. I would highly recommend the Roast Duck Scallion Pancake, the XO Sauteed Rice Rolls, and the Salted Egg Yolk French Toast. ...The place is on the pricier side for the amount of food it serves. However, I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to step out of their comfort zone and try some unique food combinations. That said, the flavor and spices on some of the dishes were mid at best - the ribs were dry and lacked in flavor. Compared to other Asian restaurants, the crispness and seasoning of the dishes lacked, but the uniqueness gave it a plus.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the money and a poor experience.
Service is slow, things came out as they were ready obviously with one member of our party getting their meal 10 minutes after the first meal came out. Drinks were delivered another five minutes after all the food had finally come out. Waiter did not really understand our orders and some items were wrong. Additionally, gratuity was automatically added for a party of 4 with no warning or indication they would do that.

Rich flavours, fresh ingredients, exemplary customer service! Good music and nice atmosphere! Great place for authentic HK flavours!
Be the first to ReplyFood was ok.
Not great. Pretty greasy. Not worth the hype. I wouldn't waste your money
Be the first to ReplyDouble Chin has a great variety of options in the menu.
Both options that are fun and staple menu items. I loved it, highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyDouble Chin is a hidden gem in China Town.
The outside does not do the inside justice. On the outside it looks like any China Town store. A bit run down and dark. But inside it's very clean and well kept. The decor and lights are very trendy and there's games and books on shelves for those who want to play or read. The food can be a bit gimmicky but that's the reason why we went! We got the shin ramen stir fry with chicken (15 +3 for the chicken), cheesy Korean rice cakes (15), spam and taro fries (16), and the 3 musketeers french toast cube (23).The host was very nice and the waitress was super quick and accommodating. She had asked us if we wanted dessert to be brought out after we finished our meal so it wouldn't melt and it was a great idea. Due to other reviews mentioning the chicken wasn't good we decided to skip it and get other things. The rice cake was my personal favorite. It's your standard Korean Rice cakes, BUT better! The rice cakes were so gooey and melted in your mouth. The cheese that was on top complimented the tomato and spice flavors very well. The shin ramen lacked a bit of flavor but that's ok! The sauce that accompanied the spam and taro fries were super good. It was a spicy sriracha I believe. Others had mention that the cube toast was eggy and I agree, BUT I think it is pleasantly balances out all the sweetness. Definitely get matcha ice cream because it is not as sweet as chocolate or strawberry, but if those are your vibe go for it! Just keep in mind that the toast cube comes with pocky, corn flakes, strawberries, mini mochis, and chocolate syrup drizzled on it. It was so so good! The toast cube came out hot but the ice cream cooled it down. Also what is this Yelp? A high give with purchase? haha the staff were so confused when I showed them!

I really liked the pork katsu sandwich! It was really tasty and the sauce was delicious. Service was fast and seamless!
Be the first to ReplyFood here is so good and staff are all so friendly.
Enjoyed my time here. The kimchi fried rice was delicious. The spam and taro fries weren't bad. I cut up the same and put it with my kimchi fried rice. It was amazing hack if I say so myself lol the ramen crusted chicken was so crispy and crunchy. Flavor was all there. Not too salty at all. Would def recommend coming here for food as well as desserts.
Be the first to ReplyThe drinks are very good.
They pour them strong. Really liked the Asian Mule and the Litty boba drink. The elote fried rice was very tasty but a little small. Veggie dumplings taste excellent and are fried to perfection. I dont know if they make them in house but I feel like they might. Crunchy Ramen Salad is so tasty! Love the flavors.Wasnt a huge fan of the soju roulette, there were a couple flavors in there that no one at the table could stomach. Taro and spam fries are solid. Very tastyOne thing ive notice the last two times ive come here is that it sometimes smells like dirty dish water to me but Im not sure if thats just my nose. Also I used to like the mac and cheese dish but the last time i got it, idk if it was the smell altering my perception but it tasted kinda like it too. Overall really like this place! And theyre open so late theyre great for after going out.

Wish the salted egg custard was oozing out instead of being hard but the flavors were there. Would not recommend getting the chili popcorn chicken though.
