Absolutely fantastic experience.
We met our friend Sue for a birthday celebration at one of her favorite haunts. We had one of the best seats in the house, which was a booth that overlook the entire restaurant including the bar. If I thought the view was great I think that the staff and services is even better. Firstly there's always somebody to whisk by your table to make sure you have all the beverages food at anything you might need. What I find out standing about this restaurant is the staff works together to make the dining experience phenomenal. Our server spent a good amount of time with us picking out just the right wine that was going to go with my husband's fish dish and our big short rib for Sue and I. I certainly have my favorites, but the food was all good. My favorite was the tuna appetizer and the short ribs. The gnocchi was some of the best I've had, and the anchovy and fish, Sue, and Shannon raved about Great dessert course and the Amaro tasting was just brilliant. We had all three bottles left on the table for our tasting and I am hooked 110% recommend this restaurant.

Be the first to ReplyPretty poor value for money.
Got the spaghetti which was fine, and very small especially for $26. Also got the butter beans and I'm pretty sure they forgot the garlic and sage. So basically a can of butter beans that was slightly warmed and poured onto a plate with no seasoning or cooking for $12. Major rip-off. Cocktails were pretty good though.
Be the first to ReplyWe had such a lovely evening at Delfina.
I have not dined at Delfina for a decade. It has retained its luster. Each course was fantastic and the service was top notch. We just loved it. I hope I get to go back soon.

I recently had a delicious meal prepared by Delfina's, although it was not at the restaurant itself. Delfina's is not only a top-notch restaurant, but it also cares about its community members in San Francisco, particularly those with disabilities, low- to moderate-income, the homebound, non-English speaking persons and the elderly who are in need of free tax assistance. During tax season, I volunteer weekly at The Women's Building SF as part of the national Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Delfina's generously donated 5 of their amazing dishes to the volunteer staff who were working on taxes and helping the community with their tax returns. Businesses like Delfina's are wonderful examples of local establishments that not only serve great food, but also give back to the communities they operate in. My colleagues and I are grateful to Delfina's for their superb dishes and I am definitely looking forward to dining at the restaurant in person. Thank you, Delfina's.

Very cute place, easy to make reservations and the ambiance is quiet and intimate. The food was delicious specially the squash tortellini. I would say portion size is on the smaller side and the food took a while to come out because the restaurant was very busy. Would come back!

The dishes at Delfina was a pleasant and savory reminder of why Italian is my go-to comfort food of choice! They recently catered at a local non-profit I work at and delivered excellent cuisine with their lasagna, spring salad and a delicious vegetarian dish whose name escapes me but was like an Italian ratatouille with white beans. The quality of the ingredients and the preparation was top-notch! I look forward to patronizing their establishment again soon!

Delfina is an amazing food establishment that helps out the community! I work for a non-profit where our programs are volunteer ran and Delfina was nice enough to donate food for our hard working volunteers. The food delicious, and it was delivered right on the time agreed upon. The lasagna and potato gratinata was delicious and a favorite amongst the group. We are thankful for Delfina and will definitely purchase food from them in the future!

Delfina l'a extensive renovation is transformational, and yet the dining experience is a bit slow paced (May need to hire more folks or wait till they all get more seasoned / up to speed with the space) but overall food is still top notch! The new restaurant has more windows to the front of the space, opening up the room to the street and letting in even more light. The private dining room features a newly installed domed ceiling, golden and very contemporary with midcentury-style pendant lights. I particularly enjoyed the grilled calamari salad appetizer and the short ribs for 2 is the show stopper, tender, full of flavor, it is a must order! It has been too long and I am thrilled to have Delfina back to the neighborhood.

This beautifully remodeled space isn't trying to reinvent the wheel. It's italian food done simply with some California inspiration. Fresh, seasonal, local ingredients. Knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient service. You're not going there just for pizza, explore the handmade pastas, beautiful braised and wood fried grilled proteins, and cap your dinner off with a classic dessert.

My husband and I live in the Mission neighborhood and were very excited to finally have the Delfina restaurant open up as we love their sister property, Pizza Delfina. When we entered the restaurant, we were in enamored with the trendy interior. We sipped on amazing cocktails as we waited for our table! Unfortunately, that is where all the positive notes end. We got seated and upon glancing at the menu, there were almost no dishes that catered towards a vegetarian (which was me). Even the salad had meat in it. When asked if the pizza could be modified to be a simple margherita, the waiter noted that no modifications could be made to the menu. A pizza, where the origin it self is vegetarian could not be made. In a very modern SF neighborhood like the Mission, it is absolutely jaw-dropping that this new restaurant did not cater towards a variety of dietary needs and restrictions. While the esthetic of this place is contemporary, this menu and inability to be flexible is extremely outdated and frankly disrespectful to its guests and this city.

The owner of this restaurant is spending an obscene amount of money to play a large joke on the city of San Fransisco.
Be the first to ReplyI tried the duck and lamb.
The duck was very good. The lamb was a bit undercooked so I'm not sure I would order that again.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and good service .
I got a mock tail with funghi pizza . Will come back here again
Be the first to ReplyPotentially racist.
Extremely rude service. The hostess didn't let me finish my sentence as we discussed seating options. She literally passively aggressively turned to some random coworker as I was speaking. She in fact rolled her eyes at us as we were trying to communicate and find options. Just because the restaurant has enough clients coming doesn't mean you get to be MEAN and dismissive. We came at 5:30 just as the restaurant opened and I think everyone else (not Asian) were treated nicely, while we, 6 Asian girls, were ignored and treated very subpar. I think there is a lot to be improved at this restaurant. Please avoid coming here.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic fancy pizza.
We had the Carbonara and the Neapolitan (sp?). Both fantastic and went well with the wine selection recommended by the waiter. Let's just say we were silent as soon as the pizza arrived and we are the chatty types. Yum. Don't walk - run and get your pizza here..now!!

I recently had dinner here for the first time since its reopening, and I left feeling less than satisfied. We had to wait an extra 15 minutes for a table despite arriving on time with a weekday reservation, and the below average food here was definitely not worth it (~$93/person). Also a minor note - you'll automatically get charged a 7% SF mandate when you get the bill, which is the highest I've seen (usually it's 4.5-5%).For appetizers, my table shared the insalata di campo and lamb sausages. The salad was okay but nothing memorable. Meanwhile, the lamb sausage had a bizarre texture, left a bad aftertaste, and tasted so undercooked that half my table couldn't stomach more than a bite of it. For my main, I ordered the hay and straw pasta dish. The menu description made it sound similar to a carbonara dish, but it wasn't. This dish tasted lighter than carbonara because it wasn't as creamy/oily. But what it lacked in dimension and richness was made up with way too much salt. Unfortunately, the only flavor this dish had was salt. For dessert, I ordered the tiramisu, which was pretty good. My table also shared a half bottle of red wine, which was decent and easy to drink. Overall, I did not enjoy most of the food I had here, and I will not be back. If you're craving Italian, I recommend heading over to Beretta (just a couple blocks down in the Mission), Seven Hills, a Mano, or Il Casaro instead.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious.
We had the grilled calamari, spaghetti pomodoro, gnocchi with truffle, seafood stew (I forget the name, but it was like cioppino). Superbly executed. The seafood was perfectly cooked. There were two types of fish in the seafood stew. They were perfectly cooked, flaky and soft. The crab was also perfectly cooked and went really well with the soup/sauce. That was delicious. While simple, I really enjoyed the spaghetti pomodoro. It was perfectly executed. The fresh pasta noodles were bouncy and chewy (different then al dente dry noodles). The sauce was very tomatoey, chunky, but also adhered to the noodles really well. With the right amount of fresh grated parmesan cheese, it was really delicious. The gnocchi was pillowy soft and had a nice flavor with the cream sauce and truffle. My only complaint is that the portions were really small. While delicious, it just wasn't satisfying. I was probably not expecting (mentally prepared) for a multiple course meal in order to be full. Given the sizes, it was pretty expensive. It was kinda fine dining prices (given the portions) in a more casual setting. But, the food was really tasty. So, if the pricing and portions aren't an issue, the place has great food.

I'm so impressed with the service at this location - we had a mix up the location of our pick up order - then it turned out the food item we had ordered had a mistake as well.. but all the people we spoke with on the phone including Julia and Kimberly were so quick to correct it and made sure we were happy with our order. We have dined here many times, the food is excellent. And we always enjoy our GF pizza from Delfina. By far the best in the city. Right now our favorite is the Salsiccia pizza with the Insalata Tricolore.

I love this restaurant! Delicious meals across the board! I def recommend ordering meatballs, come with a great tomato sauce . When I tell you I had a piece of Italy in my mouth!!!!! I had a piece of Italy in my mouth. The pizzas are thin crust and reminds me of when a young me was swept of my feet by that hot Italian man Luigi who dazzled me under the Tuscan sun!!!! He had eyes as beautiful as the Mediterranean Sea. I'll def recommend Delfina to anyone who misses that romantic date they missed on the gondola as they rode the Italian riviera! Charlotte, Montana and Connor gave the best service I will never forget! I'll be coming back for a piece of Italy very soon! For now Ciao, Viva Italiano !
