Delicious pizza with a great ambiance! The Salami Piccante
Delicious pizza with a great ambiance! The Salami Piccante was my favorite. I loved the chili oil and red pepper flakes on the side. The outside patio has such a nice vibe, perfect for spring/summer nights. I'd recommend to make a reservation in advance. The service was attentive and friendly. Great spot in Nob Hill for yummy pizza.

Lovely cute and cozy atmosphere with a lovely outdoor patio area that is dog friendly. The pizzas were great. Sauce flavorful and crust perfect. Pizza did feel like it needed a bit more oomph, but the chili oil took care of that issue. Service was friendly and efficient. The Focaccia is a must try; very pillowy soft bread. The olive oil cake was spectacular with moist crumb and deep flavor. Whipped cream, strawberry compote, and mint paired beautifully with the cake. Was so good that I forgot to take a picture of it!

Embarked on a delightful late-night dinner at Delpopolo in San Francisco, and every bite was a journey into perfection! Kicked off the evening with the golden sesame, anchovy, and lemon-infused Broccolini Alla Romana. Crispy, flavorful, and a true testament to the artistry of Italian appetizers. The Quattro Formaggi pizza was a heavenly creation with crushed tomato, mozzarella, pecorino, asiago, Ortler, Calabrian chili & garlic. The addition of chili oil and chili flakes elevated the experience to an unforgettable experience. The craftsmanship in every dish was evident, showcasing the passion and dedication of the chefs at Delpopolo. The cozy ambiance added an extra layer to the dining experience, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that complemented the richness of the food.
Be the first to ReplyFood was fine (4/5) and our waiter was great.
Reason for the negative review was due to the interaction with the hostess as we finished dinner around 9pm on Saturday. We were in a slight hurry walking out as we were trying to make it on time to our next destination. My girlfriend walked past the hostess on her way out in a slight rush. The hostess then turns towards me, using her body block me from exiting, and rudely asked if everything was ok. I confronted her and calmly said if you think we didn't pay, we did. After an awkward few moments, we were on our way but the tone of the hostess and assumption we were attempting a dine and dash was highly insulting and ruined a pleasant evening. Still shocked at how rude the hostess was, I decided to walk back into the restaurant to ask what happened. The hostess falsely claimed that my girlfriend had ran into her (they made no physical contact) and said it was I who suggested we didn't pay. Sure, a misunderstanding can happen but her tone continued be rude and condescending (even after she must've realized we had indeed paid since our waiter was standing next to her). Not how I would expect to be treated especially given the price point of this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplySome of the best pizza I've had no doubt.
I read good things about this place and decided to check it out. The vibe inside was a bit drab on a rainy day but it was a cozy feel around the bar which encircles the pizza oven. I like the idea of the pizza oven being right in the heart of the restaurant. They had an interesting selection of wines and beer and the chianti I got was amazing. Better than most of the chiantis I've had at Italian restaurants. I ordered the fried artichokes to start and they were quite delicious. The waitress had warned me about the outside being a bit inedible and she was right, the outer layer still had a bit of the thorns on it like you would expect on full artichokes. But most of it was edible and the flavor was great For the pizza I wanted to get the salsicia but the waitress informed me that it was a white sauce, I appreciated the heads up as this wasn't on the menu. I switched to the salami picante pizza and added salsicia. The toppings were delicious and that salsicia had so much flavor, I'm guessing for sure it's a homemade mix. The sauce really stood out, you could taste the oregano. Everything was well balanced. The crust was the most outstanding part. Perfectly cooked all the way around. Chewy and stretchy. No flop under all those toppings! Maybe the best crust I've ever had on a pizza. But pricy at 24 + 4 for the added sausage, but worth the splurge. Highly recommend!

the pizza was to die for, absolutely loved the sauce on the margarita! highly recommend the cauliflower as well. Only negative was that we went on a very crowded friday evening (with reservations) and the service wasn't the best, and it was extremely loud inside the restaurant
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely delicious wood fired pizza.
Had the margarita and it didn't disappoint. Had a seat in front of the pizza oven and got to watch the chefs work which was fun. Fried cauliflower was good. Servers were very attentive. It's a small restaurant but very cute and warm.

I stumbled into this place while aimlessly exploring SF on a business trip. It immediately caught my eye as the kind of pizza spot I'd want to check out. After doing some some searching, I found out that this is a destination spot for Neapolitan pizza in SF and has a following since their time as a brick-and-mortar less pizza-on-the-go joint. They were able to squeeze me into their "bar" seating where I sat opposite the pizza makers themselves. I had a perfectly dressed gem Caesar salad. In lieu of croutons, they used crouton-esque bread crumbs. An intriguing and welcomed take on the classic Caesar salad. As an entree, I had a margherita pizza. Classic blistered crust. Flavorful sauce. Fresh mozzarella. Fresh basil. A great experience. 5/5 - would recommend to locals or travelers alike

If you're looking for a cozy place to have a date or a dinner with a friend you haven't caught up with in a while, you found your spot. The food of course is great. It's pretty hard to get pizza wrong but the pizza here goes above and beyond. There are so many delicious options. I love the crust here! It's so fluffy & soft, yet sturdy as it manages to hold up the toppings. I've never had a bad service experience here, but nothing specifically stands out either.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was really good.
The crust is so thin and somehow still so pillowy. I've never really had anything quite like it, the crust is very good. The toppings were secondary to the crust, we got the trumpet mushroom and the one with the house made sausage on it, the mushroom pizza was better than the meat. We also had the Caesar salad and the burrata, both of these were great. They have a nice wine and beer menu. The prices match the quality, not overpriced. We sat in the balcony, which was nice - I would have preferred the dining room, but this is what we could get a reservation for. Lost a star for the rushed service. You only get 90 minutes to sit there for your reservation... they make this VERY known and kind of rush you along... I feel there are better ways to handle the 90 minute limit. Overall, I'd say this place is very, very good pizza. A great place for reasonably priced dinner before a show

Great spot , loved the pizzas but those Brussel sprouts are just the best. We sat on the patio in the back, 2 flight of stairs to get there . It's cozy and we all enjoyed the ambiance. Patio is dog friendly

Del Popolo came onto my radar after scouring through several lists of SF's best pizza. While I wouldn't say their Neapolitan style pizza is the best in the city, it was definitely tasty! We had the red kabocha squash and salsiccia - the squash pizza was so yummy with some sweetness and spice, but the salsiccia was a let down. It lacked flavor dimension and unfortunately just tasted like salt. I had high expectations for their pizza that weren't met, but I still think it's quite good (just not as great as those SF food editors deem.)
Be the first to ReplyDel Popolo definitely lived up to its reputation for good
Del Popolo definitely lived up to its reputation for good Neapolitan-style pizza in a chic, romantic setting. We dropped by on a Monday night without a reservation and got in after a quick 25 minute wait (their system texted updates and shaved down the wait time from the original 45 mins, giving us enough time for a quick drink nearby). We ordered the Brussels sprouts, Caesar salad, and Salsiccia pizza. The Brussels sprouts were delicious, although the golden raisin vinaigrette was quite sour and not as salty as typical Brussels sprouts preparation--don't order these unless you're a big fan of vinegar and sour flavors (which personally, we are!). The Caesar salad was a highlight, with the fine-crumbled croutons adding some unique texture. The Salsiccia pizza was good, although not life-changing. You can expect quality pizza here, though perhaps we set our expectations a bit too high given the reputation Del Popolo has--it was delicious, but not a meal we'll particularly remember six months from now. This is a safe-bet to take a friend who is visiting from out-of-town, or for a casual yet romantic date night.

My second time eating here and it was just as great as the first. The staff was friendly and our server was fantastic and the food was perfect. My only complaint was that I forgot the box containing my leftover slice.

We sat in the outdoor patio area which was gorgeous! It is a great spot for a date night or an event. Service was quick and our server was very friendly. We really enjoyed the new Broccolini appetizer which was recently added to the menu. The pizza was average and honestly not as great as I expected for the price but nonetheless we had a great time!
Be the first to ReplySo first, the pizza was fantastic.
The funghi pizza with added sausage ($4) was delicious and I inhaled it. Definitely order one per person. But. I came in just after 8pm as a party of one with a couple empty bar seats as a walk in, and was told that there was a long wait list and that I should expect a wait of about 45 min. Because of this, I asked to get a pizza takeaway instead. Done and done, nbd. Theennnn a couple came in about 15 min after me, also as walk-ins, got the same message. But the woman complained and as if by some pizza magic, they ended up being seated before my takeaway pizza even came. Okayyyy. The host was nice enough I guess, but wish I wasn't lied to so I can't say much for the service or ambiance. Hence the 3 stars.
Be the first to ReplyDel Popolo is just a big "win" for me.
..cozy back patio, friendly service, but it's the chewy dough that takes it home for me. The crust has a perfect char, yet still nice and chewy. The quality is akin to Montesacro. And the cheesecake was deceptively good, perfect consistency, firm but feels more like pudding, but it's very good. Total fan. I'll be back.

Brick oven pizza to die for! They only take reservations for dine in so please plan in advance. We got there 30min early and they wouldn't even let us in, I was disappointed but it was definitely still worth the wait. Their homemade dough is made to perfection with every bite sinking into the light and fluffy taste of brick oven fire roasted pizza dough. I also finally found a pizza joint with some menu options for pizza without cheese. As an immigrant here, I had to acquire a taste for cheese bc it wasn't something I was accustomed to eating or loving! My marinara sausage (no cheese) pizza was a hit! My partner got the bacon onion mozzarella pizza and we took two frozen margherta home! They have a lovely outdoor patio space.

Three people (two females and one male) ordered three pizzas and two deserts to share. It was SO good. We got the Margherita Pizza, Salami Piccante, and bacon onion pizzas, all of which were delicious, but the three of us all voted for the margherita to be the best. The pizza dough had just enough chew to it to make it interesting. For desserts, we had the chocolate pudino and the cheesecake. Both were so good and highly recommended! Neither were very sweet which was a plus because most desserts I have had are too sweet for me.

Food: Pizza and appetizers were really good! We ordered the Margherita and bacon pizzas and enjoyed them a lot. The crust was perfect and the ingredients were very fresh. We also tried the burrata and the broccolini. Both were tasty. The burrata had pistachio and honey and we loved the combination of flavors. The broccolini had a sauce that was very similar to a honey mustard and it was amazing!Service: The service was great! Food came very quickly and the server had great recommendations. Next time we'll get dessert.Ambiance: We went on a week day and didnt have a reservation but got seated very quickly. The restaurant felt very homey and reminded me of local restaurants in Italy. Very welcoming and great for dinner with friends, family or a date.
Be the first to ReplyLoved the decor and ambiance when we walked in.
Unfortunately, we didn't have a reservation, so we had to sit on the patio downstairs. The patio was adorable and warm from the multiple heat lamps. Now the food...Marinated Beets (3.5/5) - the yogurt sauce, almonds, and grapefruit were wonderful additions, but the beets were cut too large and needed some more cook time.Charred Broccolini (3/5) - a bit TOO charred for our liking, tasted bitter. But the parm added a nice balance.Salsiccia Pizza (3.5/5) - The dough is AMAZING, soft, and pillowy, but needed more cook time. Pizza fell apart when you picked it up. Also, not a fan of the shaved fennel. I would try the pepperoni pizza next time. The wine by glass selection wasn't that great either. Del Popolo is good, not great. A one-time try.

If you've got eyes for pies, you'll want to make a beeline to this chic and simple Italian hot spot. The open space is centered around a big, blazing oven and crowds arrive early to score every last no-reservations seat.Del Popolo may have gotten its start as a food truck, but one bite of their wood-fired pizzas and it's clear how it earned its address. Chewy, blistered and deliciously caramelized, the crusts arrive laden with toppings both traditional (mozzarella, crushed tomato and basil) and California cool (roasted winter squash, mascarpone, spring onions). Don't sleep on the antipasti either, since the starters are first-rate. The lightly charred carrots set atop house-made yogurt and garnished with crispy red quinoa are dizzyingly delicious.
