Ironically I booked this place after seeing it in an online feature on 'family friendly' restaurants in NYC.
This restaurant is anything but.
Upon arrival we were informed we could not take our small stroller into the restaurant because it presented a 'fire hazard' . As our baby was asleep inside, we decided we would rather leave than have him wake for the whole evening just so we could check the stroller as was demanded.
Neither the hostess nor the manager even attempted to accommodate us. No apology was offered. I assume they simply did not fancy having a baby in the restaurant.
Both members of staff were officious, supercilious and unpleasant, and in retrospect I am glad we didn't eat here.
I had even stated on the booking that we would have a stroller with us. They made no attempt to contact us to say this would be a problem. When challenged about this they said I had not left a phone number. This was not true. I left a phone number and an email address.
If the restaurant doesn't want (sleeping) babies, fine, but this should be transparent on the website. And there is no need for such pompous (frankly, silly) staff behaviour.
We have never encountered this issue before, in New York, London (where we live) , or anywhere else. Incidentally, we later found a table at Keen's, who barely even seemed to notice the stroller.
Bottom line: not family friendly. If you have kids, awake or asleep, avoid!
