Excellent Desserts
We walked to Daisies for dessert after eating dinner at another nearby restaurant. The place has a modern/open feel. We sat right at the counter looking at the kitchen. You can tell this is a well runned restaurant. For dessert, we shared the peanut butter cream puff, chocolate bread pudding, and Warm Graham Cracker Crostata. They were all excellent. After looking at their menu and food, I will certainly love to come back here for dinner
Be the first to Reply25% gratuity added to all checks
If you're going to add an automatic 25% gratuity, which is ridiculous, the management better make CERTAIN that the staff is knowledgeable, courteous & attentive...even when busy. Good food is not enough to warrant a 25% additional charge. Plenty of other outstanding MICHELIN Bib Gourmand restaurants to go to.
Be the first to ReplyGreat, but The Service Was Not as Good as the Food
Food was creative and great, but service did not match it. With an automatic 25% gratuity, I thought they would have staffed the restaurant better to provided a higher level of service. It took 15 minutes from when we were seated until we were greeted by the server. To me, this is unacceptable given the type of restaurant this was. In addition, the bill had a charge for an item we did not order (and was just sent over I can assume because we were waiting) and a highlighted solicitation for an additional tip when a 15% tip should be enough. Operationally, seems like the front of the house at Daisies needs to catch up with the quality of the food. Also, there is only street parking which is tough to find so leave extra time when going to Daisies.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service - a place to visit again and again
My husband and I dined at Daisies for our wedding anniversary. The food and service were wonderful. We had a table with a view of the expediting station, and we saw some cute kids drawings on the wall. I asked about them, and they told us the owner's child drew them and tries to update them once in a while. So sweet! It kind of shows the kind of place it is - warm, friendly, and makes your feel relaxed and at home. Everything we ordered was great. The kitchen even surprised us with a beet pasta plate. Wow! The wait staff was attentive without being overwhelming. We will definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyFood OK. The Rest Is Outrageous
When you call for a reservation, your credit card is immediately charged $10 per person. This is refundable when you get the check at the end of your meal. This is NOT merely reserving your card in case you fail to show. They actually process the charge. What's not refundable is a $1.00 fee for their processing the charge. Then there is the 25% gratuity that is automatically appended to your bill. Whether your server is good or bad, you pay 25%. I'm not sure whether the entire experience is worth even 20% in this very noisy, crowded restaurant. Food is good, not great. Portions arrive naked with no garnish. Better order side dishes plus 25%. Not coming back.
Be the first to ReplyUnexpected Familiarity
This creative yet understandable menu delivers at the highest level. Despite the familiar sounding dishes, the combinations surprise and delight. This is a must go during a visit to the Windy City.
Be the first to ReplyHave you tasted the strawberry angel pie?
Owner/chef Joe Frillman and executive pastry chef and partner Leigh Omilinsky have turned Daisies into a bed of roses. Located at 2375 North Milwaukee Avenue, at Fullerton, Daisies is an all-day delight. Open from 8 to 3 on Monday, 8 to 3 and 5 to 10 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 to 3 and 5 to 11 on Friday and Saturday and 8 to 3 and 5 to 10 on Sunday, it features a menu that satisfies all tastes. My wife and I recently enjoyed dinner at this stylish venue in the Logan Square neighborhood. We started with onion dip with house-made ruffles and asparagus bruschetta with farm egg, sourdough and capers. For her entree, my wife chose rainbow trout with lemon. I was overwhelmed with Butcher's cut of pork with sauerkraut and dumplings. Talk about overwhelming. The desserts were so tantalizing that we ordered portions of three...strawberry angel pie with cheesecake mousse and strawberry basil sorbet, chocolate bumpy cake with hazelnut mousse and fudge frosting and three scoops of pineapple, lemon and strawberry basil sorbet. The strawberry angel pie got two thumbs up...but who's complaining?

Great atmosphere, great people, great drinks. Everyone was so hospitable, our experience here was truely delightful, I highly recommend this place if you like to experience something different in Italian foods.
Be the first to ReplyRUDE Staff and OK food
I fail to see how this is a Michelin star restaurant anymore. I have gone for years. Each time there is always an issue with the wait staff. I had my birthday dinner here in 2021 and all the waiters were so rude to us. Then I returned again on Saturday. The waitress was rude again. Telling us we needed to order right away, within 5 minutes of getting there. I told her we wanted to look at the menu and we were in no rush. We'll she didnt appreciate that comment and made rude backhanded comments the rest of the meal. I guess in 2023 waitors and waitresses feel compelled to treat people like this, but I won't stand for it. Restaurants are too expensive. You NEED customers to run a business. So when you lack customer service, your business will suffer. I will be sure to tell everyone I know about my experience. On top of the rude wait staff, the meal was OK. I've had better Italian in Chicago. Not worth the price. I've lived here 12 years. Do your self a favor and go to Monteverde, Alla Vita, or Tartintino. Excellent overall.
Be the first to ReplyBest pasta ever!
Daisies served the best farm to table fresh pasta dishes we have ever tasted. Watched my young adult daughter sigh with delight as she tasted each dish. The offerings were extremely unique and fresh. The wait and support staff were quite attentive and helpful. I can not recommend Daisies enough. Our family will go again when we visit our daughter at DePaul. We can not wait to try the dishes offered throughout the seasons.
Be the first to ReplyUnique pasta worth a visit
Wow wow! Intriguing pasta combinations. A unique dining experience not to miss. You will be happy you came here. Where else can you get a mushroom margarita.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Brunch for CRW.
Excellent Brunch for CRW. It was sooo good. We had Winter spinach (pierogis were delicious too I’m sure). My friend had bruschetta and I had pasta. Ended with blueberry oat bars. Generous portions and all delicious!
Be the first to ReplyA Wonderful Sunday Night Family Supper
All expectations were met when we dined at Daisies for their Sunday Supper special dinner. The staff, the food and their welcoming hospitality were all terrific. Our friendly server was educated in both the menu and their beverage offerings. In fact, their beverage list was impressive with both alcohol and non-alcohol selections. Primarily a plant based cuisine, they do offer some meat and fish dishes. Everything that was on our menu was delicious and was given special thought by their talented Chef and kitchen staff. Daises is a perfect local spot that is family friendly and/or for adults too.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Execution and Excellent Service
How is it that some chefs can take the most simple thing like scrambled eggs on toast and make it unbelievably good? Sure, they added ricotta, truffles, and cooked it expertly, but still...it's eggs on toast how could it be THAT good? Execution I guess. Potato wedges, outstanding. Blueberry flapjacks, unbelievable. And Fried Pirogi with jam.....oh my. Super friendly and attentive staff just capped off a perfect meal.
Be the first to ReplyThat was a celery salad!!!
It was! With sliced cherries, smoked sturgeon, white beans, and toasted pine nuts!! It was amazing. It was one of four starters our group of five shared here. We came early [5:30] after a Steppenwolf matinee and it was already lively, if not yet full. Very interesting cocktails to start. We had four different ones among our five and everyone was pleased. We mostly stuck to pastas--again four different ones ordered. My gnocchi with morels, caraway, and aged parmesan was superb. Service was attentive, instructive, and enthusiastic. The maitre'd helped keep things moving as the restaurant filled and his servers were hopping. Attractive room and bar as well. We keeper in every way.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
Came as one of our family have a wheat allergy and they do gluten free pastas but all the gluten free ones they have also have corn which is also an issue. Other places are able to come up with corn free gluten free recipes too.
Pasta dishes were decent sized and done well without being too large or. Too small. I can see why they made Bib Gourmand. Their starters and desserts were great. Service was attentive but a little slow. This would be a great place if their prices were just a little lower. Parking is essentially non existent unless you luck out on a street space nearby.
I thought to be considered on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list. Prices had to be under $40 per person. With a starter and drink and dessert no way.
Pastas are a hit!
Homemade pasta is the specialty here and WOW it was great! For starters we had the home made onion dip with house made potato chips. These were great to munch on while we mulled over what pastas to order. The parsnips were so highly recommended by other writers that we decided not to miss them. They are roasted and dressed with Calabria chilies, parmesan/ pine nuts and duck crackling. This weird combination works magic on a usually ordinary root vegetable. The chilies give it a little heat and the pine nuts and duck cracking a little crunch. The parmesan cheese adds that bit of saltiness that one looks for on root veggies. Great combination!
Writers suggested that the pasta dishes are small so we ordered three to share after our chips and parsnips. Our choices were the pierogi, the ravioli and the chitarra. The pierogi cooked with mussels and beer were another combination I would not have thought would work, but the broth produced by this mixology was delicious mopped up with the toast. (We had to ask for toast.) The ravioli was a delightful combination of celery root/black truffle and hazelnuts. There is nothing better than the scent of truffles on fresh pasta. Spaghetti alla chitarra is a variety of egg pasta typical of Abruzzo, Italy. Long pasta strands, which resemble spaghetti and are square instead of round are typical chitarra. While they called this chitarra, unless I missed this nuance after my first glass of wine, they definitely looked round to me.
Delicious nevertheless.
Now for the bad news: If you are going to Daisies from the North River area give yourself lots of time to get there during rush hour. Our reservations were for 6:30. We left at 6 PM and arrived a half hour late (7 PM). I called from the car and they were entirely gracious about our delay. The main dining room was quite noisy but the small room in the back where we were seated was perfect for both dinner and conversation. So you should request the back room if you like a more quiet location.
Only one criticism: The waiter asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We asked for sparkling. We were served from a carafe and it was quite dead water with few bubbles. We asked if they made their own sparking water and the waiter said he thought “maybe”. With great Italian homemade food the sparking water should be a quality imported bottled sparkling water, not a flat homemade substitute. A choice of bottled sparking water should be on the menu. However, we were not charged for the water.
I highly recommend Daisies.
Too expensive
We had dinner with my daughter, her boyfriend and another guest. The waitress said we should order several appetizers and several entrees for all of to share, because the portions are small. The total bill was $250 before tip and my wife and I was hungry when we left. It was recommend by a friend but I will not return. This is typical for Chicago but not for us.
A real gem
We had dinner last night there and ate our way through the menu. From the moment we were seated we established an excellent connection with our setting Rebecca. The wine list was small but thoughtfully chosen and priced reasonably. We started with 3 appetizers of which they were all very good, but the parsnips was the star of the night. We followed up with 4 pastas, all superb. 2 desserts and we were well satisfied. This chef/owner restaurant was one of our best meals in some time. Prices across the board were great, with portions the perfect amount. We can’t wait to come back here on our next trip visiting our daughter, who is a foodie and blogger and she feels the same way we did. BRAVO
Be the first to ReplyPricey but worth it!
Food portions are small but extremely tasty. Our party of 4 ordered 6 entrees and 2 desserts to be shared amongst each other. The bill was right about what we expected it to be but not for the faint of heart. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly!
