For an unexpected trip to this restaurant, this was a prime example of "when things don't go as planned turn out for the best."I was originally going to grab a bite at the Bayside Food Court upstairs after a nice trip to the Frost Museum before I realized it was completely wiped out in favor of all the tourist traps down below on the first floor. (Haven't visited here in a while)So while checking Yelp and Google Maps for alternatives, I saw this restaurant with a very healthy reputation across a huge variety of reviewers. Swallowing pride and my wallet to eat a much fancier meal than I originally was yearning for, I decided to invite some high quality Peruvian cuisine back into my life. Because this was next door to Pollos y Jarras, and under the same ownership, I already had high expectations going into this. We started off with two exceptionally well crafted drinks. The only possible sting from this experience was the fact that the smaller cocktail (Lychee Martini) was $19, more expensive than the sangria. For appetizers we decided to try the Sushi and my partner, despite her aversions to raw fish, actually liked the platter on offer. The heated fried shrimp really brings the rolls together and I personally had a flavor blast with every bite. Then came our main platters, two Huancaina dishes, which were both incredibly delicious. Be warned that the sauce is heavy and can be very filling for those that aren't very hungry. The Fillet Migñon and Lomo Saltado in our dishes however were cooked excellently!Overall, I was very pleased with my experience here and It's interesting how central downtown still has these delicious restaurant experiences that feel out of place next to graffitied, shuttered garage doors in Miami's every increasing inner-dystopia. I would like to try their new location in Dadeland Mall for comparisons sake in a more local area to me. Until then, just know that the reviews did not lie!
