Lengthy wait spoiled the experience
A terrible wait time completely undermined what would have otherwise been a good experience: we liked the staff very much and the food was excellent but we waited over an hour - and the restaurant was pretty empty - without either an apology or an explanation offered. Disappointing as had been highly recommended and waiting aside was great. The scallops were superb.

Outstanding service and the food was among the best I've ever had. We were a large party of 30 business colleagues and the staff handled all of us perfectly.

We had a delicious meal in a relaxing atmosphere with excellent wait staff! Many places have gnocchi, but this was bar far the best ever!

Excellent service and amazing food. The squash pasta with brown butter sage sauce was divine. Whole experience was delightful. Started with craft cocktails - I had the Winterโs Tale and my companion had the hedonist. The squash soup amuse bouche was a pleasant surprise. We shared the pasta and hamachi crudo. I chose the chicken which was the most tender chicken I have ever had and he had the duck. He is a big fan of duck and said it was the best he had ever had. We shared the Brussels and finished with three scoops- vanilla, honey and blood orange. The take home coffee cake at the door was another pleasant bonus. Totally exceeded my high expectations.
Be the first to ReplyOur best dinner in NYC!!
We reserved well in advance - strongly recommended - and were seated promptly. Our server, Cesar, was attentive and professional. His warmth earns Craft its reputation as a high end but relaxed establishment. The short rib was decadent, especially spooned over the potato/cheese richness of the aligot. The risotto was as good as any I'd had in northern Italy. The dessert chocolate souffle was more of a lava cake than a true souffle, but close enough. If it's an occasion, or you just want to indulge in truly fine dining, Craft is the place.

Celebrated my husbands 50th here. They did a great job acknowledging the occasion. Drinks were well thought out, apps were delicious and the steak at dinner was perfect. Only disappointment was that we ending up sharing the steak because the smallest cut they had was 38oz and the only one eating it would have been my hubby so i opted not to have the fish so it wouldn't go to waste. There was still steak leftover, terrible waste :(

The staff at Craft are sincerely friendly and actually care about your dinner experience. Itโs a beautiful venue, but not stuffy or too formal. The food was fantastic - and be warned - these are big portions! Enjoy!!
Be the first to ReplyYup. Works.
Beautiful space, approachable and helpful service, delicious food. The heirloom Tomatoes were โthat dayโ fresh, the crudo and the Hen of the Woods were unlike anything Iโve had before, and the pork ragu was brilliantly layered and delightfully interesting. Mez the sommelier was generous with his knowledge and experience. Only regret is that I passed on dessert.

Really special place. Classy, but warm and inviting, Craft offers interesting and delicious dishes and friendly, attentive service. We came for the 6-course summer tasting menu and it did not disappoint. The highlight (out of many superb plates) was the king crab over a lemon verbena purรฉe. Still thinking about it! Daniella, our server, was perfection. She was the perfect blend of informed professionalism and personalized friendliness. She made the experience special and really knew the food! Thanks to Tom for a NYC gem.
Be the first to ReplySkip Craft and spend your money where the food and experience are worth over $300 per person (with minimal bar bill)
We had a 7:30 reservation which was made well ahead of time. The Summer tasting menu was sold out when we ordered at 7:45, 5 of the 6 steaks offered were sold out, it was a constant refine of โsorry, we are out of that.โ Apparently they received a slew of reservations for this evening at the last moment and they told us they did not have enough food. A restaurant of this caliber should be prepared. Bill was $633 with tip for 2 people (3 glasses of wine so not a big bar bill). Dinner took 3 hours as service was painfully slow. Regarding price keep in mind we were not able to get the tasting menu at $185 per person. It is sad to see a restaurant considered high quality fail on so many levels. Spend your money somewhere else as Craft is not worth it both in attitude/service and food choices/execution/quality. The one plus was our server who seemed extremely embarrassed by everything.
Be the first to ReplyWelcoming, delicious , 5 star service
With this being our first visit to New York and our 25th anniversary celebration, I decided to reserve a nice dinner at the end of our busy tourist day. From the time we were seated, we received top notch attention and treatment. Our anniversary was immediately acknowledged by multiple staff, were gifted a personalized copy of the menu , and a complimentary sparkling wine. Our head waiter expertly guided us through our menu selections and wine choices with a friendly and helpful demeanor. I lost count of the number of staff who unobtrusively served us and whisked plates away at the precise times. ( Of course , our water remained filled throughout) . Not once did we have to ask for attention. A very special thank you goes to Desmond, and CeSar for their outstanding service. In addition, Iโm so grateful to Cheran for making our experience NEXT LEVEL. The memory of our experience will last a lifetime. Michael Keogh we appreciate your talent and hospitality!!

My son and I were celebrating my birthday, and had high hopes for a fabulous dining experience. The ambience is without a doubt impressive. My son had let them know it was my birthday, and our menus had โHappy Birthday โ printed at the top, a nice touch. The restaurant was less than half full, yet the service was lacking. We were at our table a full 15 minutes before any acknowledgment (water, drink order). Our nice waiter was clearly stretched too thin, and was apologetic. Eventually our drinks came, then a lackluster amuse-bouche of butternut squash appeared. We shared wildly overpriced so-called โBad Boyโ oysters on the half shell, and wonderful grilled octopus as appetizers. Having heard so many accolades for the short ribs, we bit the bullet and ordered this $67 (!!) entree, along with the seared tuna. The tuna was delicious, but the short ribs were embarrassingly poor โ chewy, flavorless, and swimming in a greasy broth. So disappointing and surprising for such a fine dining restaurant. Later, when the manager came over, I mentioned the mediocre short ribs. He was quite apologetic, said they werenโt from the restaurantโs usual purveyor (then why serve them?), and immediately removed them from our bill and comped us a round of drinks. A classy move. He also said they were missing some of their service staff. I didnโt have the heart to mention my birthday, so no special treat arrived as promised on the website.

My fiancรฉ and I had dinner at craft in November the week before Thanksgiving. We showed up for our 8:00 p.m. reservation and were informed that they were running about twenty minutes behind - no bid deal. The woman we spoke with asked if we would like to sit at the bar while we waited, which was perfectly fine with us. Cocktails were excellent, which was good for us as we had a very long time to sit with them. We didnโt get seated for dinner until 10:00 p.m. At that point, we had checked with the person we first spoke with multiple times, and we noticed people coming in well after us were being seated. I pointed this out to our original contact, who apologized and offered to take care of our cocktails, which was appreciated. We were seated shortly thereafter. We came in well dressed, were polite, and acted as one expects in a fine dining establishment, so this was rather odd. We never really understood what happened. Anyway, I digress. Once we were seated, however (at a table another couple had asked to be moved from? Slight wobble - At that point we didnโt care), things improved. Our server was very pleasant. I had the big eye tuna entrรฉe, which was top notch - the olives used in the dish this fall were a perfect balance for the flavor of the fish. My fiancรฉ chose the duck and wouldnโt stop raving about it. The hen of the woods mushrooms were a stellar side dish I would highly recommend. So, all in all, a delicious meal in a lovely location, just much later than we had expected.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Service, Great Everything
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service, food, drinks . . . everything was great. We were sitting at the table to the left of the column in the pictures across from the bar. This was our 1st visit to Craft, and it was my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. Our server gave us great recommendations starting with the huge bone in ribeye, potato puree and hen of the wood mushrooms - he basically ordered for the table with the exception of the drinks. It was a wonderful 5 Star dining experience. Next time in NYC we will be coming to Craft.
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant of our trip!
This was hands down our favourite restaurant of our over 2 week holiday in NYC. We loved it so much the first time, we cancelled a reservation we had on another night at another restaurant, so that we could return to Craft for a second time. The service was a huge step above any other restaurant we had dined at. Service was exceptional across the board, but a special shout out to Cesar and general manager John Gargano who went above and beyond. Food was amazing. Best risotto we had ever had in our lives thus far. Save room for dessert which was scrumptious!! Thank you to everyone at Craft, including all those working behind the scenes in the kitchen. We had two most memorable nights of our trip thanks to you!
Be the first to ReplyBeing as Respectful as I can...
Planned this family/holiday dinner in NYC for 2 months. Very disappointing, no other review is possible. Perhaps our expectations were too high (?), we've been to 25+ "Top Chef" (and Tom's) other restaurants. The restaurant is beautiful, great ambiance. Server had a bit of attitude from the start, no idea why. Sommelier was great, same for appetizers (the foie gras and the octopus)! Main course went downhill... steak and marrow (a specialty) was cold and under-seasoned, beyond shocking to us. Duck was overcooked and without crispy skin, again shocking. So, really no possible recovery from that. Server saw our troubles, (we didn't eat half our food), and didn't help or offer any fix or options, just more attitude. All we wanted and expected, of course, was Great Food, and simply didn't get that.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Dinner Experience
This was our first visit and we will definitely be back! The service was wonderful. Servers were very attentive to details to make our daughter's birthday dining experience a memorable one. The food was exceptional from start to finish - appetizers through dessert. We are extremely pleased with our overall experience.
Be the first to ReplyCreative cooking and excellent service
We went to Craft to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Service was excellent--professional but not pompous. The food was very good. The only dish that was a bit of a letdown was a side order of chanterelle mushrooms which was dry and quite expensive.

I had a lovely brunch experience here. While not every dish is a hit out of the park, you get a good amount of food for the price you pay in a snazzy modern restaurant. Pair it with a fun cocktail selection and some dishes that taste as good as it looks, Craft is a wonderful place to celebrate any special occasion. While I wish service was a bit faster, it is a popular restaurant and things can get busier than expected. I really enjoyed the unique cheeses featured in some dishes, as well as their cod. Large portion sizes - you'll get the most bang for your buck and walk out feeling stuffed.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Service with Some Good Dishes
This was our second visit to Craft since it opened many years ago. Then it was a stake house. Now Craft offers a more varied menu from pasta dishes to fish and meats. Some menu items are good to very good. These include the arugula salad and the mushroom risotto. The black bass was grilled with no sauce, nothing special. The burrata was a bit of a disappointment. Pavlova was good. Though the dishes are pricy with many entrees the $50 range and starters around $30, the wine list is reasonable. The very knowledgeable sommelier pointed us to a beautiful reasonably priced burgundy. Others service was good, also. John Gargano, the restaurant's maรฎtre runs a tight ship.

The staff is incredibly hospitable and warm. Particularly wonderful were the octopus, fish and squash agnolotti. A delightful meal, thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyGood food nice staff
The place is charming, the staff is really nice and the food is very delicious, big portion also. The only thing is that they canโt chose their clients and when youโre seated near 3 young ladies eating with their knees on the seat, speaking loudly you could say almost screaming, using their phone to watch videos โฆ well thatโs not what you want to see and hear in such a restaurant. I know itโs difficult but I guess manager should tell those kind of clients to leave or behave They were kind enough to give us another table and offered the dessert We will definitely come back

The hosts were welcoming and inviting. The food was scrumptious. Everything was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. I had the pork. OMG...it was crisp on the outside. It was moist and juicy on the inside. It literally melted in my mouth. The wild mushrooms delicious and the greens were firm and perfectly sautรฉed. The greens had just the right amount of bite to them. Lastly, the Meyer Lemon sorbet tasted like a lemon festival in my mouth. It was light and refreshing. Lastly, the waitress was knowledgeable and accommodating. I loved everything about my experience. Quick note, the restrooms were very clean which says a lot in my book.

Beautiful restaurant, great service and excellent food. We went for an anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. Pricey but worth it.
Be the first to ReplyWONDERFUL Experience!
Everything was nearly PERFECT about my familyโs experience here. The food was absolutely fantastic. The wait staff attentively ensured all our needs were met, questions answered, and the pace between drinks/ordering/meal courses wasnโt too fast or too slow. They also went the extra mile to customize our experience since we were celebrating a birthday. The only thing for us was that it was a little dark to read the menus for guests with limited eyesight. But we used phones!
