This place is extremely average and ridiculously overpriced.
The $68 Au Poivre consisted of five very thin slices of skirt steak. (I also saw through past reviews that it was priced at $42 only 1 year ago) There's nothing special about Corner Bar at all that warrants the prices they charge. The food isn't creative or particularly high quality, and the menu is limited and boring.

For drinks only: solid martini, vesper, and margarita! Nice spot for a drink at the bar. Love the cozy interior. They had happy hour while we were there which was nice!
Be the first to ReplySolid 3.
5-4 stars. Despite the fat not being more rendered on the duck, it was still delicious. The crรจme brรปlรฉe is silky and smooth, with a nice sugar brรปlรฉe crust. I also got the shrimp cocktail which is just okay. Not nearly as juicy and plump as other places. They're very attentive and nice, plus the restaurant is pretty!

Fabulous!!! Food excellent, great looking restaurant felt like I was in Europe. Front of the house and waiters friendly and on it.

To say the least we had the most overpriced forgettable meal !! We will not be returning any time soon
Be the first to ReplyLove it.
Everything about it-- burger is phenomenal, great service and ambience. Steak tartar is a must-try as well.

I have been to Corner Bar five times and each time the pricing gets more absurd. After my experience this week, I will not eat there again - which is really too bad because the food is generally very delicious and I was happy for the addition to the neighborhood. $26 for an heirloom tomato salad at the height of tomato season is highway robbery. Plain and simple. The pine nuts were not toasted or seasoned in any way and seemed like they came directly from the #10 bazzini nut can. There was maybe half an ounce of goat cheese on the salad. $195 for the Cรดte de boeuf is certainly pricey but the fact that it's advertised as a 32oz portion and came out way smaller is maddening. I've portioned steaks for restaurants for over a decade and this was not a 32oz piece of meat and other professional cooks / chefs at my table agreed. The wine list pricing is equally outrageous. I'm not sure what kind of "neighborhood restaurant" expects to last long when there are far more $300 wines than $75 ones. When the restaurant first opened it was pretty difficult to get a table but my party was able to walk into a fairly empty restaurant and get a table no problem -- which may be a sign that the neighborhood is over the ridiculous pricing.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting twists on menu.
Good food. Good service. Warm space. Loved the Oysters Rockefeller
Be the first to ReplyOverall, never coming in again.
Food: decent I guess but way overpriced... Service: awful, staff is highly unprofessional. told us our $80 steak was under a heat lamp because our food came out too fast....grabbed our oyster shells off our plate when we were finished but kept the plates...and to cap it off, we spent $700+ on food and a nice bottle of wine for 2 people, they said their connected lounge was too full for us to go for an after dinner drink. They did zero to accommodate the horrible night we had there. Ambience: the restaurant looks like a Cracker Barrel... Do not go. Plenty of other amazing restaurants in the neighborhood.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a big miss.
There are pros, but it's limited. Food is very good: Excellent duck, Great Caesar salad. Delicious cocktails and wines. But that's where it ends. The pricing is absurd. Their signature dish is Steak Au Poivre but it does not come with frites even though they say steak frites is their signature dish. Oh, and to get that it's $81!! The duck and lamb portions are small. And the service, while well intentioned, is painfully slow. It's hard to understand who the restaurant is trying to attract because there are better French bistros all over Manhattan and Brooklyn (and easily more affordable too). The outdoor dining set up is nice but looking out at dingy and noisy Allen Street is a negative. The inside is very pretty but all in all, this is a never again.

Last week, my Partner and I dined for the first time at Corner Bar. It was a delightful experience. This cozy restaurant truly is a gem of classic cuisine, with a warm, classy, and intimate environment that made it seem like a private meal. The highlight of my meal was the Diver's Scallop, which was expertly prepared and delicious. Clearly, the Corner Bar chefs take pride in using only the finest ingredients and preparing each dish with care.I highly recommend Corner Bar to anyone looking for a wonderful meal in a comfortable and elegant atmosphere. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a pre-drinks dinner with close friends, this restaurant will soon become your go-to in the Lower East Side. I look forward to going back soon and trying more of their menu.

Food, service and setting excel at this Chinatown french bistro. Though the location is odd, the restaurant is housed in the beautiful Nine Orchard hotel Swan Room Bar. Sister restaurants include Estela, Altro Paradiso, and Lodi. Dishes we enjoyed including oysters Rockefeller, lamb, and fluke. I would skip the clafoutis. It was more cake like a fruit pie.
Be the first to ReplyHad very high expectations for Corner Bar.
My friends highly recommended the food service and ambiance. Not sure if brunch is just different from my friends dinner experience. The place seems disorganized -- we had to wait ~20mins past our reservation time for the table; there just seems to be some confusion about dishes/organization at the bar where food comes out; and lastly, food was also slow. Portions are small so make sure you order extra sides.I'm a bit fan of Estela so pretty disappointed with my overall experience here...
Be the first to ReplyCorner Bar is fabulous.
My only complaint is that it isn't on my corner! Corner Bar is the latest effort by star chef Ignacio Mattos of Estela. Once again he has created a wonderful restaurant and a great dining experience. Corner Bar is ostensibly the hotel restaurant inside Nine Orchard, but it really is so much more. Classic food is brought alive by an amazing culinary team. The cocktails, wine list and service are all excellent as well.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was excellent.
I'm not sure why the bad reviews. The steak tartare was wow, probably the best I ever had! The salad was just as good, looked like a bouquet of flowers and the trout carpaccio was spot on. Entrees were just as good, the steak and duck is a must, however the halibut was just ok, nothing exciting and one can never go wrong with the fries! Service was excellent as well, great wine list. I will be back for brunch.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the worst restaurants I've ate at in the city.
I was excited because it's relatively new to the scene and I've heard a few things about the food being good. First and foremost, the staff upon arrival were very kind and accommodated my jacket and had me sit on a comfortable bench before sitting down. When we finally sat, the tables were so uncomfortably close I could hear the conversations of both parties next to us. Hopefully the waitress was having an off night, but she provided a laundry list of specials that took maybe 5 minutes to explain. We also were hesitant on our orders because nothing looked appealing - it looked like a starved version of the American Bar menu - so the waitress seemed fed up with us that we needed an extra 3 minutes. Also, if you're familiar with Raoul's burger situation, it's a disappointment because it's the same here - you can only order it in the Swan Room across the hall. The waitress tried to push more food on us and made us feel uncomfortable that we didn't order drinks (we don't drink). Additionally, the waitress accused us of not tipping, when in fact we did, and also offered money even before they found out it was their mistake. The environment was lackluster, menu terrible, and service awful. I hope to return here one day with a revamped menu and experience more polite staff. I'll give this place a star because they had a cute matchbook.
Be the first to ReplySo i have seen it all but tonight was a stunner.
When paying the tab after dinner i was given the handheld device for my credit card. It provides an option for a tip. Common. I added 20% and signed. I then realized that the 20% included a tip on the $26 sales tax! Really???? Is that what high-end chic ny diniing has come to? Diners beware.

I grew up in this neighborhood and this building was always under scaffolding for at least the last 10 years. So what a surprise when it finally came down and it was a hotel! Truthfully this place was good but overpriced. Service was good and the place is nice. We came here looking for the shrimp cocktail and the steak au poivre. To our surprise neither was on the menu anymore. So we went with the fruit de mer and the steak special of the day which was a chargrilled ribeye. The seafood platter was delicious and fresh. Great oysters as mussels. The steak was a bit too charred and the rosemary was a bit too overpowering. But overall it was good. The fries were delicious. We ending the night with the pineapple sorbet which tastes like a fancy Dole Whip. Overall the place is a bit overpriced for what it is but there was nothing inherently wrong. Would I come back? Probably just for the sorbet and cocktails. For the price point, I've had better elsewhere and that's ultimately what it comes down to.

Very good food make sure you can afford it before visiting , service is good / relaxed. Overall a nice addition

We've been eager to try this restaurant as a continuation of our love for the Dimes Square neighborhood and finally managed to score a reservation at the bar (which might have avoided some of the service complaints seen elsewhere). The ambiance here is an elevated take on the classic NYC steakhouse, which felt especially comforting on a Sunday night. Everything was incredible -- starting with the Oysters Rockefeller (a refreshing herby garnish to contrast the earthier undertones of the oyster) and for the mains: Spaghetti Pomodoro (fresh & simple, perfectly executed) and the Steak Au Poivre, which was fattier than your average skirt and paired very nicely with the decadent peppercorn sauce. And a Creme Brรปlรฉe to finish. One of my favorite meals in recent memory. Highly recommend.
