Community Food & Juice New York Reviews from The Last Year
Very tasty brunch near Barnard and Columbia.
Great service and a robust menu. I had the egg white scramble with roasted veg and my daughter had the pancakes which were both delicious.
Simply the best
A real neighborhood gem. We have been coming here for more than 15 years. Can’t beat the country breakfast and blueberry pancakes. Homemade biscuits. Great vibe. Friendly staff. Lunch also wonderful. Delicious rice bowls. We moved downtown on the east side and travel all the way up here for their fabulous breakfasts. Highly recommend

Uses SEED OILS such as canola oil in certain foods where it can be easily avoided. They should look for an alternative such as olive or avocado oil. Otherwise great food.

The food was just straight up bad served it to us cold and it tasted horrible. For 2 people it was 100 dollars for terrible food. The actual restaurant is nice but everything else is bad except for the 8 dollar orange juice

Came here for a quick catch up with my sister during brunch hours. Although a bit pricey, the food was fresh and delicious but nothing spectacular. You definitely need a reservation as it gets crowded . Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. The blueberry pancakes were good but nothing spectacular. The menu has a lot of options which was great. The portions were decent. I also had the B E.L.T. Heritage hickory bacon, free range egg, lettuce, tomato, mayo, sourdough toast, carrot hash browns you can definitely taste the freshness. They also have Gluten free options and veggie sandwiches available. The ambience is casual.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat before heading to a Columbia women's basketball game. Although a bit pricey, the food was fresh and delicious. At the time that we went, it was surprisingly not crowded. The place was clean, roomy, and well lit with decor that made you feel at home. Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful.
We were regulars at community with their prior menu.
So disappointed they have eliminated the fish special which was always superb. Now they are emphasizing sandwiches. So long, farewell.
Very reliable restaurant in the Columbia area.
Lovely fresh food, terrific salads & rice bowls. GF clearly marked on the menu which is so helpful. Friendly staff. A relatively large space for Manhattan but has a cozy & warm ambience. Hot chocolate was large & served with cream, but nothing special.

I heard that the owners of Clinton St Baking Company are the owners of Community and came here excited to try the pancakes but felt highly disappointed. Let's start with the hot chocolate. It wasn't hot at all. They served lukewarm hot chocolate that was slightly bitter. I'm not sure how they made it but it was definitely watery and I felt like they gave something from yesterday without even warming it. The pancakes were extremely greasy. I've never thought of pancakes to be greasy but they had a strong oily taste to them and I couldn't even finish them. The maple syrup didn't help and neither did the flavors. They had good blueberry and chocolate filling but after eating 1/3 of the pancakes, I couldn't handle eating the greasiness/oily taste since it felt like I was drinking oily blueberries at this point. The carrot hash browns were okay. The potatoes were not flavored and they fit some carrot shreds in between. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I've definitely had better hash browns. The service was quick but it was hard to get hold of a server for even simple requests (it was not even busy and 3/4 of the restaurant was empty) and the one server splashed water over my friend who I was dining with while trying to fill a cup of water. The restaurant itself is chic and cute for a date spot but I don't even recommend this place for a date if you're looking for good food. Will definitely not be coming back.
Lentil salad very good.
Fries not so much. Ordered steak medium rare and came medium well. Chef said too bad. Cava and Malbec good. Lights very bright, felt like a diner. Bathrooms rundown. Service not great. Won't for back.
Great breakfast and brunch spot
We were in town for a long weekend and new friends suggested this spot. A variety of items from the menu looked absolutely yummy! I had the special which was truffle eggs with mushrooms. arugula and potatoes, so tasty. My son had brioche French toast and inhaled it. My husband and friends had the huevos rancheros, pretty good however the chorizo was a bit dry according to my husband. Great place overall!
Used to be great, lost all its love and is now a HATE FACTORY
I have been coming since the place opened, and live for the last 20 years, nearby, I have been coming nearly every weekend for at least the last 12 years whenever I have been in town, always ordering the same thing. I personally know ALL the staff pre-COVID, after Covid the place changed, though David ( the manager ) remains. Over the years, i have noticed the quality drop, little cuts - they used to serve you 4 packages, now you get 3. Maple butter ( extra) used to be free, there is an uncharge now. I miss the beet chips that used to come with the fish sandwich. David sometimes makes an appearance, but the place is run for the last 3-4 years by a group of new people who DON'T CARE - and generally hate their jobs. The animosity is passed on to food. I no longer feel comfortable eating here - and today they lost a customer has been going for the last 10+ years. David was no where to be seen, and the "manager" on duty there, essentially told me to get lost. The don't care because Columbia students will come here anyway, the place cycles out with people who are transient - they don't need local customers. I am never coming back
The best NYC breakfast
We rented an apartment on the UWS starting in 2010. Moved to Nomad in 2014. And we still travel to Community for the best breakfast in NYC. Country breakfast and blueberry pancakes are a must. The country breakfast is served with delicious perfectly browned potatoes and a fabulous biscuit. Pancakes are light and filled with fresh blueberries. The staff is so friendly and attentive. LOVE this place. Great for lunch as well
Delicious breakfast
We had a great breakfast meal here this morning - one of us had the special of Truffle Eggs, one of us had the Florentine Benedict poached eggs, and I had an omelette with bacon and goat cheese. Fast, quick service, the food was delicious. The coffee drinkers gave their cups a thumbs up, too. Nice, friendly staff, which is ALWAYS a plus. Will be returning during future visits to NYC.
I Won't Go Back
This is the second time I have tried brunch at this restaurant and now I can say that I will never go back with certainty! The eggs benedict florentine with artichokes was not good and the eggs over easy with hash brown potatoes was not good. The eggs were practically raw!

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
