Not so good
Used to enjoy popping in for breakfast occasionally, but standards are slipping. Today the coffee was tepid (sent back), the omelette was leathery and very salty, and the service slow. And prices are up: £30 for a light breakfast is quite a lot.

A long time since I came here. And wont be back. Condescending and perfunctory staff, really bland food, an insistence on having the table back within an hour and a half (yet the restaurant was half empty on departure). All in all a very disappointing experinece. Not at all what it used to be.

Good food and attentive service, welcoming staff and a nice ambience reminiscent of a Parisian Bistro. One of my relatives lives in Paris, and she greatly enjoyed it, which should say something!

Not my first visit (which had been for a lunch) and it was a bit of a mixed experience. First of all it was incredibly busy, booking is always essential. We managed to get a seat at the bar, luckily, and were told we would be collected when our table was ready as we were probably 20 minutes early. We had our drinks and were waiting but nobody came to collect us, and as we had a show to go to we were on a fairly tight schedule, so we went and asked if it was ready and the server said that had been letting us finish our drinks. Well, OK, but they might have asked us having initially said they would come and get us immediately it was ready. We were able to order quickly and the food arrived promptly, but we both had steak frites and salad, and whereas my husband's was excellent, mine was awful, quite gristly. I complained to the server and it was taken off the bill, but I didn't have time to order anything else by then so I just had the salad and frites. As it wasn't my first time dining there, which had been much better, and my husband's steak was very good, I am going to put it down to being unlucky, but I might stick with lunches if I go there again.

An excellent meal in terms of the quality of food and our service. I was particularly impressed that the restaurant reimbursed us the cost of our desserts as these arrived late and we had a theatre booking. The desserts arrived soon thereafter, and despite my saying I was quite happy to pay for them the restaurant chose to deduct them from my bill without any quibble.

Amazing location and the hostess on that Saturday 27th of January was amazingly kind, the rest of staff being also friendly and welcoming, impressed, recommended

I Love this Restaurant ! My special place. Excellent food, Service & Ambiance. if you’re dining alone or with friends. Sit outside & watch the world go by or sit in the bar enjoying a cocktail & soaking up the buzzy atmosphere. Booking I strongly advise. I could not be in Sloane Square. & not call in.

We have been here for drinks during the summer. Today I’m by myself, sitting outside under the heaters, as it is very crowded inside, on this Thursday afternoon around 14:15, enjoying my very tasty cafe latte, thus I had a second one. Service is very good
Be the first to ReplyBetter service & staff who care at Costa!
Such a disappointing visit for our first time! I brought my daughter for brunch, have wanted to visit for many years, have had better service at my local cafe. Won’t be returning. Waiting in the bar for a table and ordered a coffee, having waited half an hour without my coffee arriving just cancelled it. Better service at Costa! None of the staff seemed to care, no attention to customers, no smiles, no “thank you for visiting”. As a Londoner I am always asked to recommend venues, this will be flagged to def avoid!

As our hotel was across the square we had several breakfasts here. The food is delicious although expensive. I particularly like their Bircher muesli and the scrambled eggs with Comte cheese and chives. It is a very busy restaurant so best to make reservations. Occasionally service is a bit chaotic, most servers are kind and friendly but some are a tad sniffy. Great place to people watch.

With a bit of an effort we managed to find a table for three sitting outside on this very busy Saturday afternoon ( around 16:30 ) Enjoying our drinks ( Johnny Walker Black Label ) and hot chocolate Service is good Will visit again to try the food menu
Be the first to ReplyUsually really good..
I have been to Colberts many times and always really enjoyed it. Last night we went as family of 5 for a meal. The food was lovely but the service was absolutely horrendous. Waiting staff didn’t seem bothered. Took over 20 minutes to bring the drinks and no apology. Food was also very slow. Unfortunately last night they let themselves down.

The service is mostly impeccable. Especially the staff outside, on reception and the bar staff. However, once you are seated, it depends who serves you. I had to ask for bread and water to myself after I had ordered the food as no one asked me or brought bread over. Usually everyone is highly professional but it was a busy Saturday lunchtime and I was grateful to get seated after waiting at the bar for half an hour. I ordered the Menu Prix-Fixe but unfortunately I had to send the celeriac remoulade back as it was over dressed with very strong vinegar and mustard but it was also inedibly salty. The grilled mackerel had been under a heater too long, it was obvious, as the skin was crispy all the way to the meat. The flesh of the fish was also darkened with the wait and did not look like anything like the picture. I always come back for the Frenchness and possibly the frites & the bread.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Beef Wellington around Chelsea.
Lovely Sunday night with friends, service and atmosphere spot on , attention to details, Beef Wellington was very tasty will return for sure, one of the best french brasserie in Chelsea. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyBest spot in Chelsea
Best spot in Chelsea to have brunch with your dog. It's very rare to find somewhere of this standard nowadays that allows dogs. Great crowd and very accommodating, polite staff and most importantly amazing food. Very underrated place, in my opinion.

We went last night, for a special birthday (and where me met, nearly 17 years ago): it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I told the manager (a very efficent organiser) so. Thanks to all, Michael & Gill
Be the first to ReplyA rip off!
Went for dinner yesterday before a concert at Cadogan Hall. Waited ages for menu. Waited ages for order to be taken. Waited ages for food to arrive. My husbands onion soup and haddock goujons were ok but I was shocked when my lemon sole was delivered. My expectations of a lovely piece of fish were dashed…. 3 small fingers of overcooked, tasteless fish with a sliver of lemon at £34.25 without any accompanying vegetables 🤨 We ordered green beans but broccoli was delivered which we sent back. The beans arrived when we had finished our meal. How can they justify such extortionate prices and a 17.5% service charge for such poor service and small portions? I wish I’d been brave enough to refuse to pay the service charge. Never again. Wouldn’t recommend. Quelle damage .
Be the first to ReplyFallen from grace! Used to be good. Service is very bad, food is awful. For a restaurant of this standard, shocking!
I came here a few years ago when I lived in the area and loved the vibe, food and service. How things have changed now. I was dieing to go back but wish I hadn't bothered! I booked a table on a busy Saturday evening looking forward to it all week. Positives, lovely French brasserie like being transported back in time. Elegant and chic. You don't need to dress up but definitely look neat and smart. Great vibe. Super busy. Make a booking. You are unlikely to get seated or will have to wait a while without a reservation. The table was allocated for one and a half hours. Big restaurant. Tables are quite close together inside. There is outside seating too but this is more for drinks plus a bar. Food wise think rich French food. Menu looks good on paper and last time I came it was. This time it was awful and way overpriced. Service was beyond shocking apart from the gentleman who greeted and seated me at the door. Staff were otherwise rude, unfriendly, rushed off their feet and not interested. At one stage, the waitress was taking my order, rolling her eyes and talking to and taking the order of the couple next to me at the same time! People were waiting ages for food. The lady next to me got her meal, finished it and then her husband got his by which time she was having a coffee already! The pineapple juice was warm, sour and tasted like a carton left out. I didn't realise there were two sizes of juices. How surprising I was automatically given the big one so they could make more money I guess?! The food was awful. The grilled octopus was horrible. The salsa was not salsa. I love octopus and eat it often but this was cold and tasted awful. Thrown in a plate with no presentation skills. Bland. Looked almost like pet food that was oily. It was cooked well but that was it. They provide complimentary bread but I didn't bother. If you are offered water and accept then you will be charged for it. The water is not free. Tables were not cleaned. The one next to me was left dirty for ages after guests left. I was asked thrice by the same waitress within ten minutes if I wanted dessert which again showed that she was not interested nor listening. The only thing they did do was give the expensive bill quickly! I had a good mind to tell them to remove the service charge but I was so annoyed with the whole evening, I just wanted to get out. For a restaurant of this standard, they failed to deliver on food, service, cleanliness and more. The only positives are that it is a really nice place which has a cool atmosphere. Also a shout out to the one gentleman that actually cared and provided good service! Don't bother or waste your money. There are better places who appreciate their guests!

Dinner with friends and we had a lovely evening. Very busy dining room on a Friday night. Delicious octopus, moules marinere, kedgeree. Reasonable price.

We have eaten at Colbert many times and let’s just say another superb meal. It was my wife’s birthday and we had our beagle with us, table was ready in under 5 mins service and food excellent the epitome of a classic French brasserie in London, buzzing and super food can’t wait to return. we hope to visit again soon steak tartare and escargot a must, thank you to all your staff just excellent.
Kind regards,
Mr C.
Fabulous
Excellent meal and coffee. Lovely staff. Clean loos. The decor inside is fabulous and always a treat to sit outside.
Has old world glamour appeal.
Comfortable, relaxed and welcoming place for Breakfast
As a couple we stopped in for breakfast and a coffee to thaw us out. The place was empty to begin with but it started filling up not to long after about 0830hrs. I think the place opens at 0800hrs.
Staff were friendly, professional, well dressed.
The coffee was good, temperature on point and all happy.
The scambelled eggs were rather runny, but still tasty and filled me up for a good start to the morning!
Nice decor, kinda retro / 80s style. Plenty of tablets and staff to assist, so i don't see why there are negative comments about staff!
Get in and check it out for yourself.
Bad French cuisine
We hoped for a good French cuisine but nothing like it. For example:
- The wines on the cheaper end (30-40£) are sewage. They should not be in the menue.
- The profiteroles are disappointing: the ones that one gets from Tesco are much tastier.
- The only decent dish was an off-menu roast beef which is an English dish.
Moreover, they charge an extra 2.50£ cover charge, something that restaurants around London don’t normally do. It is really non-justified given the quality of the cuisine.
There are much better French restaurants around London with a better cuisine and better value for money.
Pas mal
Perfectly fine but for the location and price, not good enough. The service was better than recent reviewers felt - although it took a half an hour to get our drinks, and there was a bit of staff chatting and not being ‘on it’ (too many staff?). The food was prepared and cooked well, but it all lacked the quintessential flair and deliciousness found in even a local café in France. We would come back for the ambiance and bar, and the pavement terrace in the summer, but would only order easy basics such as steak-frites and mousse au chocolat.
