Nice Meal,....don't select the cheese option
We had lunch at The Lanesborough under their offer of a fixed price meal, a present from our son for Christmas. The meal and staff were wonderful and efficient. However what led to the lower grade review was when my husband decided to order the Cheese platter for an extra £12. Well that was a joke and really quite insulting. Got more when we flew on BA two days later.. and that was included in our fare! I would also warn people that you will also automatically have to pay a service charge on the whole meal. Not a problem for us however just remember that when you come to budget for lunch.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent lunch menu in this palace
It was perfect for a 2-course lunch with perfect cooking. For the dish, all that was missing was a garnish in addition to the few vegetables. The dessert was excellent. The staff are attentive and the ideal place for a break in London far from the urban noise.. excellent time spent at the Céleste du Lanesborough: we will come back
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service and superb food
Excellent. Good food & superb service We had the fixed price 3 course lunch and every course was excellent, Service was excellent from the time we arrived at the hotel until we left. Would thoroughly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyMy least favorite afternoon tea of my trip so far
Yesterday I experienced the Queen Charlotte afternoon tea at The Lanesborough in London. This was created in partnership with Netflix and Shondaland. The limited-edition menu pays homage to the Regency era; a time of great revelling and high style, of elegant parties, balls, and grand dinners, all with a contemporary twist. Establishment and Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Lanesborough’s has a richly decorated dining room, naturally illuminated during the day by a domed glass roof. Such a beautiful elegant room. There was no pianist or any music, so you could easily hear your other companions. Level of Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unfortunately I just wasn’t impressed by the level of service we received. I have given it a 3 for average but for this level of establishment it was quite poor. The attention to detail certainly wasn’t there, I had to look around and wait to find a server near by to get tea replenishments etc. The one positive was we certainly didn’t feel rushed! Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The sandwiches were most enjoyable, and again I liked the different varieties of bread. As we didn’t have the salmon we were asked which additional sandwich we would like. The scones I thought were doughy, I really didn’t like the texture. The jam although quite plentiful just ran straight off the spoon. The petite fours were a no for me. I completely disliked that one was to share. I am one of those people who never likes to share food and I really found this to be in very poor taste to have to deal with at afternoon tea when out with friends. The petite fours whilst pretty to look at, were just too much mess and fluff. Tea and Tea Ware ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Being in such a fabulous Georgian dining room plain white cups, saucers and plates seemed a little boring, but I really liked the silver teapots, milk jugs and sugar bowls. Value for money ⭐️⭐️ This afternoon tea was priced at just £80. In my honest opinion, spend the extra £5 and take afternoon tea at the Ritz, that extra £5 gets you a whole different experience. I honestly felt like I was paying for the association with Bridgerton. I’m pleased I experienced this afternoon tea, but I wouldn’t return and so far it was my least favorite on this trip Overall Score ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #AfternoonteareviewsbyLindsey
Be the first to ReplyGreat lunch
We had a great time at lunch. Warm welcomes await you as you enter the hotel and all staff greet you with a smile. The food was excellent, all the staff were polite and friendly and attentive. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplySome staff looked untrained
Lots of improvements needed, especially in the service sector, it takes long time to get noticed by staffs! Dishes very appetizing and well presented. Loved the risotto
Be the first to ReplyYou can do better on service
We had a Sunday roast at the grill. 3 adults and a child. We had an overall nice experience. We really like the room, and the atmosphere. I just wanted to share something that we found quite ridiculous. It is not suppose to be a cheap place. At almost 700 gbp for 3 adults and a kid with 3 glasses of wines for a roast. That was expected so that is ok. But when my wife got the cheese trolley (which is already at a supplement), she was told she could only pick 3 pieces of cheese. Come on, that is cheap stuff and completely ruin the cheese trolley idea. Are you in such a dire financial situation that every piece of cheese counts? An idea for you: Ask the guests to give you their pocket change at the exit, maybe you will be able to finance the next cheese platter … When we asked for more gravy, the waiter answered a concerned “I will go and check…”. We got our gravy but you should not make it as it is such a special ask. You should do better on those points. That all sounds quite ridiculous …
Be the first to ReplyTop standard service and great food
My second time here and both times I loved my experience, the service is outstanding, food is delicious, vine is really good, surroundings are perfect. I will come back again.
Be the first to ReplySumptuous location
I had a virgin experience voucher for 3 course dinner.for my birthday. We walked through the lovely Hyde park flower gardens and had cocktails in the library bar first - they were excellent in cosy drawing room with unlimited snacks. 5 stars for those. We chose the lilibet and the one with blackcurrant powder. Yum. There were drinks on the menu costing £6,500 so order carefully! We moved to the grill and the food was great, especially my rhubarb dessert. I gave it 4* though as we are lucky to eat in lots of posh restaurants and a couple of the elements weren’t perfect- the pine nut purée and the poached blackberries. We added on the £45 wine flight which the sommelier chose well. Staff were very friendly and the location sumptuous; lush carpets, fresh flowers everywhere, fires. Very fancy.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and setting. Set menu lacking
Service and setting excellent. Set menu leaves a lot to be desired. The main consisted of a chicken breast with a single wilted leaf. No proper vegetable to have a mouthful of. No carb either. Deserts were average. I have been before and had the Sunday menu and that was fantastic. Set menu disappointing though. Very mean and stingy to not include even any vegetable. Having said that, the chicken was done well.
Be the first to ReplyOUTSTANDING
Simply outstanding, couldn't fault it, service, food, ambience. We eat out regulary and this was one of the best meals that we've ever had.
Be the first to ReplyLondon elegance
In the heart of the Knightsbridge/Hyde Park area (where Bridgerton is at home) this restaurant made us feel pampered and in true London hospitality. High-level gastronomic journey, accompanied by a good 2018 Gusbourne Brut, Blanc de Blancs Kent, England “Chardonnay”. As an appetizer we enjoyed a potted salmon, smoked cod roc, radish, rye bread, fennel then we continued with a wild garlic risotto, new season morels, peas, broad beans & Pecorino Bianco di Lago then Suffolk chicken, pancakes of buckwheat, pine nut puree, braised chicken hearts and a vanilla millefeuille, sea salt caramel, toasted vanilla ice cream. Excellent white chocolate and juniper berry mousse, clafouti cake, blackberry sorbet. The creative and international cuisine that I love! Location: crazy and high level service (congratulations to Manuela!). Advised
Be the first to ReplySuperb service on Mothers Day lunch
Excellent service from Andrea, the experienced and helpful waiter at the Lanesborough Grill. 3 courses plus champagne was excellent value. The room was absolutely stunning and the food could not be battered. Truly a five star experience. The staff were extremely knowledgeable about the history of the hotel, which made it a fascinating experience. Would definitely recommend if you are in London for the weekend.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food and service!
Fantastic service, Raffaella was exceptional and the rest of the team made our experience perfect today. A big thank you and we will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous Birthday Meal
Came here for my Mum's 88th birthday. Staff made her day with their attentiveness and the food was so good! Starters were excellent- terrine nd the ravioli were standout. Being close to Christmas we went for the Roast Turkey- amazing how different you can make a roast dinner, succulent meat, tasty veg- even the brussel sprout was nice!! Pretty close to getting a Michelin star I would have thought T he room just adds to the occasion!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Meal
Had a lovely meal with my daughter. We had drinks in the library bar first then a meal in the Grille. The food was lovely and staff all very polite and helpful. We went on a Friday night so there was a pianist which just added to the lovely atmosphere. I couldn’t fault this to be honest as the building, location and whole experience was amazing. Thank you.
Be the first to ReplySuperb Restaurant & Excellent Service
We had been to the Grill before and enjoyed it so much we wanted to return and we were again not disappointed with the service and food, it's just superb. We went for pre dinner cocktails in the Bar, which is a must as the ambience and service are impeccable and their Champagne Cocktails are fantastic. Then we went through for dinner and had a great time, lovely food and service in a stunning dining room, thank you. Highly Recommended
Be the first to ReplyAll Round Excellent
The Lanesborough Hotel is one of London's top hotels, so you would expect its main restaurant to be excellent, and indeed it is. Eating in this sort of place isn't just about the food, it's about the style/location, the "feel" of the place and the service. Service is "spot on" - friendly, helpful, without being too intrusive. On arrival we were greeted and offered the chance of a pre dinner drink in one of their bar/lounge areas (exactly as should happen in a top hotel). The hotel is stunning, not ultra modern, but "classical" as you would expect. Food was good, not quite Michelin standard to be honest, but the restaurant is Michelin listed, not starred and this is probably correct. (Clever touches, such as small birthday "cake" appearing with our pre dinner drinks)

Totally gorgeous lunch, such fun, and delicious, great ambience, fab food, drink, and decoration.... just slightly disappointed I had emailed ahead it was my friends birthday, but this was not acknowledged, not to worry, but would have been the icing on the cake...
Be the first to ReplyTwo hours for afternoon tea!
Afternoon tea bought for us as a gift. My wife and I were given a pleasant table albeit not large, and were left waiting for quite a while before being offered some water, still, sparkling or tap. Foolishly asked for the former. Some time later we had the menu explained to us at length. Bite sized sandwiches, cakes and scones. And a variety of teas. Were offered champagne but declined. Then the wait. Eventually tea arrived. Then we waited. A pretty display of sandwich strips, and pretty decorated cakes eventually arrived with the obligatory long winded explanation ensued. And that was it for an hour or so. Eventually scones were offered and a fresh pot of tea as the original was now stone cold. And then we waited. Scones arrived, weird texture and runny jam, but good lemon curd and cream. No fresh tea arrived, but by then we were over two hours into it, bored, fed up and left. Although we had the bill paid upfront, I was given a further bill for £36 for two bottles of water and gratuities. So a grand total of £176 for tea for two. Note to the Lanesborough - look after your customers a little better and they might return. Treat them like an inconvenience and they won’t.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious and impeccable service
Very nice ambience and spacious room. Food beautifully presented and full of flavour. Great service - knowledgeable, friendly & professional. Wine paring good. Would recommend & return. Thank you
Be the first to ReplyTop service with a smile.
Just enjoyed an exceptional experience at the Grill Room which is a stunning room within the Lanesborough Hotel. From the warm welcome at the entrance to the reception walkthrough to the Grill made us feel very special. Our table hostess Rebecca then took over to provide a superb attentive service that could not be faulted. We had the 3 courses lunch menu that provided adequate choice at a reasonable price for central London. My partner had the succulent ox cheek and l had the cod which was delicious. If you want relaxed friendly unobtrusive service, striking surroundings and wonderful food, the Grill is one of the best venue in town!
Be the first to Reply50th Wedding Anniversary Dinner
What can I say, The Lanesborough is an amazing hotel and restaurant. My Husband and I went for dinner to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary, and everything far exceeded our expectations. We arrived by taxi and the doorman opened the taxi door, another doorman opened the door to the hotel. We were warmly welcomed and taken into the withdrawing room for a pre dinner drink, the lovely young lady told us we looked very nice and when we told her the reason for our visit she congratulated us, she came back a few minutes later with complementary glasses of champagne, which was lovely. Our dinner was beautifully presented and tasted delicious, there was a card from the staff of the hotel on the table congratulating us too, I had asked the hotel to arrange a golden wedding anniversary rose button hole for my Husband to be on the table, and it was perfect, for a special celebration The Lanesborough is perfect, we would love to go again sometime.
Be the first to ReplyHidden Racism?
I am from an Asian country and on my recent visit i was seated at the edge of the restaurant. I realised that all the Asian customers were sat at the corners of the room and everyone who sat down at the nice tables in the middle of the restaurant were white people, the difference was stark. The restaurant might claim this was a coincidence but the restaurant was full and it was so clearly divided. Also they might say the outside tables are better but I don't believe it, I was sat cramped next to a plant and my head was touching the leaves all the time. I felt quite sad about this fact, these 'coincidences' happen too often in the UK. Asian people realise these things but we don't normally speak out about it. British people should recognise that racism is not just a BLM issue, it happens to Asians too.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and great ambience but some service is sketchy
We attended for the Bridgeton Afternoon Tea as a celebration of a couple of landmark birthdays. We looked forward to perfection and were excited to show our daughters super food and service in lovely surroundings. We arrived early so chose to have drinks in the Withdrawing room which were served by a superb lady who was so friendly and discrete until the restaurant was ready for us. The restaurant (The Grill) is lavish and simply stunning. The pictures don’t do it justice. All started well with a great attentive welcome from the team. We ordered our drinks and then they had a staff change and a new waiter came to take what would have been a duplicate order. The food arrived and was stunning. From that point on the restaurant started to fill and our waiter simply didn’t cope. We had to order refills twice as they were forgotten, when finished the table was only cleared of some items, obviously as they were needed for other diners and even after an hour the table hadn’t been fully cleared or our order taken for more drinks. We took the manager to one side and he promised to speak with the staff member at the end of shift which was fair enough but then the service simply didn’t improve. When the bill arrived they had removed the service charge which was more than fine, but there were numerous errors on the bill. In the end all was sorted but the service lacked the ‘perfection’ of other similar grade hotels. To be honest it tainted this special occasion. Hopefully the ‘talk’ will sort this problem but looking at some reviews service seems to be a recurring issue. The food and drinks are faultless so let’s hope others don’t have a similar issue.
