Well out of the 2 appetizers and 2 entrees we ordered for
Well out of the 2 appetizers and 2 entrees we ordered for dinner the other night, the best I can say for any of them is "ok". Service was fine, not great but friendly although no follow up by waiter after meal arrived and the first course dishes were not cleared when the main courses were brought out. The Avocado Paapdi Chaat appetizer (a combination of semolina crisps, avocado, savory yogurt, diced potato and chickpeas with tangy chutneys) was bland and mushed together and I had the weird sensation I was eating breakfast cereal -- it was better after I asked for hot sauce. As much as we love shrimp, the sweet and spicy shrimp appetizer was our least favorite dish of the evening. The Tandoori lamb was overcooked and the tandoori shrimp was very dry as well. Sorry Chutney Masala, you tried but we will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyLovely presentation.
Food was very good, will definitely go back and recommend. The margarita was not spicy, it was perfect and had a nice kick. They warn you the Lamb Vindaloo is spicy but my friend who eats some spice didn't find it spicy and I eat a lot of spice and it was not spicy for me. If they scare you, and you can handle some spice, you can handle it. It was very tasty. We had the lunch special which was a very good deal. I hope to go back and try the rasmali, but I didn't have any room left , the lunch was very filling !
Be the first to ReplyThis is one of our favorite restaurants, anywhere.
Our family turned us on to this place as they live near the area and we frequently visit them. We really can't say enough about how quality of an experience it is to eat in person, but their take out game is so strong that you are good either way. The restaurant is clean and well-decorated. The staff is pleasant and professional. The food is world-class and full of so much flavor. I love that they'll make it really spicy (I like HOT stuff) and will help recommend things to you based upon your interests. We make it mandatory to eat here every time we can. Their Nan is wonderful and the Vindaloo and Chettinad are my personal favorites.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was quite good, but the service was very lacking.
Once seated we waited a very long time to be served and through the evening we had to keep waving to get any attention. And the place needs more attention to decor. Framed old Indian photos & mirrors are nice but there is a distinct lack of color, which is odd for a restaurant which represents such a colorful country as I dia. To me, the bar area is particularly dull.

Indian Food in IrvingtonNewest entrant to New York's Michelin Guide this year is Chutney Masala in Irvington-on-Hudson, an affluent suburban village in Westchester County. (Literary trivia : Irvington was named in honor of the author Washington Irving who then lived nearby and was still alive at the time of the naming.)The food at Chutney Masala is undeniably Indian, but some options are adjusted to the palate of those uninitiated to Indian spice. I ordered my default favorite in any Indian restaurant, lamb #roganjosh and it was so satisfying especially when paired with the fragrant garlic naan. The mango lassi was a perfect meal ender. I plan to come back to try more of the restaurant's offering. #curious_eater #michelinguideny #westchestereats #michelinwestchester
Be the first to ReplyDelicious.
Absolutely delicious. A gem. And worth the drive. The mango chicken was delicious. But the Lamb Nilgiri Korma was to die for! It is the most delicious thing I've ever had. Totally going to return.

was so disappointed with the food, AmritsarI fish was over fried and dried out, rice was not fresh , reheated and soggy. sali boti had no sali on top ( potato shaving) instead the chef put boiled potatoes in it after we complained, why call the dish Sali boti and mislead the patrons. won't be going here again ever, so much for luring the public to dine here with a pre Michelin star status!

Excellent, chicken vindaloo had perfect heat factor and kebab sauce was out of this world good!
Be the first to ReplyBiryani's are worst, both chicken and goat.
Chicken is not cooked, the pieces are hard to eat. Rice is not biryani rice. They just cooked some curry and mixed it with rice. Most of the 5-stars seems to be given by non-Indians who might not know the authentic Indian food. I don't recommend this place.

I don't even remember how I first stumbled upon this place but I'm glad I did. It's become one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the area and I've been back many times. I'm a big fan of Indian cuisine and have tried it all over the county. This is easily one of the top 3 and you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. If you like spice, tell them to turn the heat up and it makes all of their most popular dishes that much better. You definitely want to try the lamb biryani!
Be the first to ReplyI had a nice Valentine's Day lunch here with my mom.
The table was pretty, with a nice candle and flower on it and they had a special Valentine's Day menu. We started off with the avocado chaat which was perfection. It had nice large crisps with yogurt, tamarind mint and creamy avocado. Omg! It was just fabulous. For entrées, we ordered the chicken korma, the chicken chettinad, and I asked for naan to be made with garlic and chilies. The chicken korma was creamy and flavorful. I had never tried the chicken Chettinad, which had a nice heat to it and was presented in a tomato sauce. But best of all was the naan! Who doesn't love fluffy pillows of bread adorned with chili peppers and garlic? It was just perfect To soak up these silky, spicy sauces. The service was excellent, and our waiter listen to what I had seen pictures of and told me he could make any naan that I wanted.... And boy did he! This restaurant is pretty, and very welcoming. I will be back soon

Great Indian place! Came here with the teens and they devoured the dal and chicken tandoori! I had the vindaloo and it was fire as expected.

All these years later- still delicious! They're now located on Main Street (probably have been for a long time... it'd been that long since my visit) but have a long history in Irvington. The service and food were amazing and their COVID protocols on point. I especially enjoyed my entree, the Saunfia Paneer Tikka and the mango chutney. Stop in (to stay or take away) soon!
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal, staff answered all of our questions.
The service was very good. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone in Westchester who enjoy Indian cuisine.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is beautiful.
But if you have a service animal, do not go here. They denied my mom's guide dog access and made any excuse to justify they're illegal activity. Denying a service animal is illegal. So save yourself the headache and go some place else.
Be the first to ReplyThe food here is fantastic and you can't beat the location
The food here is fantastic and you can't beat the location either. I've never dined in but they do delivery and pickup and the restaurant itself seems nice + they have outdoor seating. If you live around here and haven't tried this place out well then you really have to because you're missing out. Unless you don't like Indian food, then nuts to you. Just kidding, it's fine.
Be the first to ReplyJuly 2021, 4 STARS for Service, 3 STARS for food this
July 2021, 4 STARS for Service, 3 STARS for food this time. We sat outside and I will say I will say the service was good, however, this time we were disappointed with our meal. We ordered the Shakahari Thales for 2, a special vegetarian appetizer sampler dish that my friend said everything on the sampler dish tasted the same, however, I thought it tasted just fine. But, if you are not a fan of fried food then stay away from this dish because most of the appetizers are fried. Then we shared the Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani, and in our opinion the chicken cubes were dry, not moist at all when you cut into the chicken. We ended up asking for an extra yogurt dip just to soak the chicken In because it was so dry. All and all, we may give this restaurant another try in the future, but it looks like we going back to Little Mumbai Market in Pleasantville, NY to eat Indian food.
Be the first to ReplyWe've eaten here several times over the years.
In the past it has always been great. What with the plague we hadn't been back for a while. We dined here about a month ago and I was disappointed. Since the food has always been great I chose not to write a negative review. We returned yesterday. Everything was great! My friend was feeling adventurous and ordered the lamb vindaloo, the waiter suggested he get it less spicy than usual. A wise move. I ordered the chicken vindaloo. When I asked the waiter if mine was less spicy he was evasive. No matter, we all enjoyed our lunch. We fortunately got out before the torrential rains started. This place serves good Indian cuisine. I'm glad they just had an off day. Too bad it's such a schlep off the Saw Mill.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite Indian restaurant.
All your old favorites and more to try that may become new favorites. Lots of tasty vegetarian choices.
