Wonderful visit in the champagne country!
The chateau is absolutely stunning! The hotel. grounds, rooms, and restaurant are all absolutely gorgeous- so much attention to detail. The staff was warm and welcoming. We had a fantastic time with our family and can’t wait to return. We visited Champagne Pommery nearby and also highly recommend a trip there when visiting.

Stayed more than 15 times both as a couple and with our child Simply put - slipping on service, food firmly off the ‘boil’ no cognisance of our repeated stays… …and sadly a rude / abrupt refusal to move a stay 5 days before arrival (second of a trip too and from the U.K. … clue there post brexit despite us not being British but with British accents) to a December stop-over en route to our home in Switzerland. Bottom line … sad and weirdly different to previous lovely stays We shall not be visiting again

Such a stunning place. From the historical building , to the comfort and design of the rooms, to very helpful staff and the amazing food, everything was to the dot! We absolutely loved the French country side feel that hotel has to offer. Exactly what we were looking for. Definitely a place to go back !

This year we decided to stop at Chateau de Courcelles on our way from England to Burgundy. What a nice discovery! Living the French chateau experience like any other: the restaurant and reception staff are really nice. The room was spacious, the furnitures are well chosen and the overall atmosphere takes you back at the time of royalty! The diner was great, the food is really authentic and the wine list… absolutely impressive! A nice opportunity to enjoy local wines and outstanding champagne. We will come back very soon. Thank you!

We stayed at this hotel from Friday the 5th to Sunday the 7th of August 2022, We arrived late afternoon after driving from our house in south England. When we arrived we were met with a friendly receptionist whom showed us room and got the valet/waiters to bring our bags. Our room had very traditional French architecture/interior design. The bathrooms were modern and large. Overall the rooms were amazing and a well deserved 5/5. In contrast the dinner service was slow, the food was very overpriced and not the tastiest. It was very hard to get the waiters attention and the service was very bad, so bad that my father has to get up and get his wine and our waters since we had not been served for well over half an hour. The breakfast was a little better but still not great. That day we visited some wine houses which were interesting and we learnt our lesson and ate at a restaurant on the way home. Overall a superb property/rooms but the dinner was a letdown. If we come back we will come for the superb rooms, but not for the food. Monty, age 13

We stayed here last night,Friday 6th August. The front of house was very welcoming, our room a little tired but clean and cool. Dinner was a disaster, we waited over 45 minutes to order any wine which then took another 30 minutes to come, but this was after asking constantly. We ordered our dinner at the same time as the wine. When it arrived finally !! Despite the high cost starters around €40/60 we ordered 3 to try all tasteless. The main courses were better but not by much. After nearly 4 hours we finished dinner but didn’t even bother with cheese or a dessert. The head waiter had no direction over his staff he was condescending when after 1 hour 15 mins we asked where our wine was, he had forgotten what we had ordered ! It did then finally arrive. This morning breakfast was no better, slow good coffee, pasties and fruit salad though. The restaurant and kitchen are letting what is a beautiful old chateau. I will never go back.

The chateau is beautiful, strikingly so. Our first impression made us feel rather wary due to the little reception desk stationed immediately in front of the door ~ I think it would be better located inside the chateau hallway to make more room, as it was a squeeze to fit in ourselves, luggage and children without blocking the route in and out. Once we walked through the wonderful chateau, it very much felt like a private French country house and it is beautifully decorated and authentic. We were absolutely thrilled with our suite. Gorgeous decor in keeping with the style and heritage of the castle with such character and comfort. Huge big beds with lovely linens and lots of space (We would highly recommend the Mary Louise suite for families) The Molton Brown bath condiments were a nice touch, and the welcome was very warm and genuine. Jean-Gwénaël Sereni particularly impressed us with his professionalism and kindness, he is a real asset to the Chateau. The setting is sublime, the pool is set in the park with bird song and it has very comfortable loungers and a heated pool, we quickly relaxed. We enjoyed a game of tennis or two, and walks around the grounds. Dinner in the restaurant fell on Bastille day, and it was very busy in the restaurant. Hence the loss of one star. We will definitely return, and we will stay longer next time. We loved the place, next time we intend to take a champagne tour, enjoy a picnic by the lake and hire some bikes. If you are booking the chateau as part of a road trip, as we did, take some time to enjoy the property properly booking at least a few nights ~ it was a great experience. A hotel that has retained it is history, character and appeal is fast becoming rare in such a globalised world, we are very pleased to find this little gem of a chateau so close to Calais. It can easily become a destination for a long weekend away in future too.

We stayed in a Prestige room for a couple of nights during our recent trip to Reims. This was one of three Relais & Chateaux that we stayed at throughout the trip, and we generally like the hotel family because it features predictably good service and food quality. On those levels, the hotel is excellent. We enjoyed lovely, and relatively reasonably priced, tasting menus each of the nights. One day, they also prepared a really nice picnic lunch (this puts picnic lunches to shame -- expect a 5-course affair), which we enjoyed by the pool. Most of the service quality was very good, even if English was spotty depending on who you spoke to (OK for us since we speak french, but at least one of the main reception people was adamant that we speak in English to him, even though he really could not understand what we were saying or manage our request). The room quality was high, with period details but relatively modern bathrooms and an extremely comfortable bed. The area they can improve most on most easily is related to the grounds themselves. While the property is beautiful, there are sprinklers that run from sun-up to sun-down that make a rather loud and noticeable ticking sound right outside the back windows. You might not notice except that the rooms *are not air conditioned* so it's your only chance to get fresh air overnight. The lawn looked pretty waterlogged for most of the day, so maybe they can keep it down to a few hours in the morning and let guests hear the birds chirping instead of lawn equipment? Additionally, the german wasps are a real problem during the summer. During meals (esp breakfast, which they serve outside without an option to stay inside) the wasps know right where to go, and will swarm you the entire time. They even fly into your windows during the day, should you dare try to open them to get some airflow. Fortunately we don't have allergies, but there were others who did and who seemed extremely anxious throughout the stay -- they're absolutely everywhere.

My wife and I and one of our sons stayed here for one night on the way back from skiing. I am almost certain that my son's room was upgraded, but there was no mention of this, in line with the way they treat guests, which is superbly. Service is very good but unobtrusive, just as it should be but so rarely is. None of the slightly condescending formality which can occur in some of France's smarter establishments. The Prestige menu for dinner was excellent and the wine list is impressive. Breakfast is simply superb, we thought, with a wonderful plate of cheese and cured meats, freshly squeezed orange juice, good coffee and pastries and so on.
Our rooms were beautifully and tastefully done and immaculate.
I am just looking for an excuse to stay there again preferably in summer to enjoy the grounds to the full. The country house par excellence.
Beautiful, relaxing, elegant stay
My wife and I stayed for one night as a stop-over on a longer trip.
The hotel is delightful and 5-star quality in every way - I can only guess it is officially only a 4-star due to some technicality.
The staff were universally perfect - polite, pleasant, understated and wholly accommodating.
The décor, furnishings and cleanliness were perfect throughout. The bath and shower in the room were especially luxurious and memorable.
For dinner, we tried the 5-course fine dining option with paired wines. Though visually/aesthetically beautiful, it was not the best meal we've ever had, and the wines were not entirely to our taste, but the price was reasonable and the overall ambience good. The food the excellent at breakfast the next morning, and the service was perfect on both occasions.
If I could make one suggestion: when offered a pre-dinner aperitif with suggestion of champagne, it was not clear to us whether this was complimentary/included in the 5-course dinner menu. We later saw from our email booking that aperitif was not included. but had I realised, I would have chosen something from the extensive menu that I would have really enjoyed (e.g. a rare spirit) rather than the €20 glass of champagne suggested.
Lovely evening
Following a recommendation from a friend we booked a night here. The staff were excellent, the food delicious and the opulent room delightful. We choose the menu Gourmand which was wonderful with paired wines. There was no fuss when I wasn't keen on one of the whites. A beautiful glass of Chablis was offered instead. Only regret was we were only staying one night. The warm welcome from the start definitely set the theme for the stay.

My wife and I have just stayed again at this delightful and elegant hotel and from the very helpful and professional Gaelle, Pasqualine and Nicolas on the reception and concierge front of house team to the Maitre'D Patrice and his colleagues Thomas and Ambre we found our stay relaxing and restful. The pre-dinner aperitifs are excellent and the 'Carte de Fromages' something very individual to the Chateau. As noted by some of the French clients below it is highly recommended to seek advice from the waiters on the best wine and cheeses to choose for each course and personal favourites for us were the amuse-bouche of salmon with a carmelised apple sauce, the Chateau's (Chef Vannier) Roulade of Fois Gras followed by the John Dory or Charolaid steak and the Millefeume to follow as dessert. Also, try the local 'Ratafia' aperitif, 'Gaillon' whisky and champagnes - and don't forget to walk off the evening delights with a walk in the Chateau woods (!).

My husband and I came to the Chateau de Courcelles for a fine dining experience. Upon arrival, we drove into a beautiful property with lots of green space. There was parking available for guests. Masks were required in all public areas. We walked into the chateau and the staff welcomed us very kindly and with attentiveness. We were walked to the dining area where we were able to choose where to sit. There was a magnificent outdoor seating area! There was also a beautiful sun room decorated with elegance. We chose to sit in the sunroom because it was a rainy day. The sunroom allowed us to enjoy the view of the property while staying nice and cozy indoors.
There were many staff members that came to our table to greet us, ask for our drink order, and provide the menu. We felt well taken care of without feeling overwhelmed.
Our meal included lots of little surprises that were not on the menu. We felt appreciated and well taken care of. These surprises included the aperitifs, mis en bouche, and pre-dessert. These small gestures of gratitude made the whole meal come together!
The staff really had amazing knowledge of pairing our wine with our meals. They had wonderful choices and truly recommend their advice. They also provide amazing non alcoholic beverages. I was pregnant at the time and was given these choices. The barista made an amazing mint and berry lemonade.
The food itself was delicious. The flavors were delicate, savory and satisfying. My favorite plate was “Escargot de La ferme des Grands Crus”! I would go back just for that! The staff did an amazing job at bringing each course in a timely manner without feeling rushed or feeling like they were taking long.
The dining area was very lively but at the same time private. There were plenty of guests at lunch but it wasn’t overwhelming because there was enough space between tables and I didn’t feel like I could hear everyone’s conversation. It was perfect.
After lunch, we were able to walk the grounds of the chateau. It was a lively activity to do right after eating a wonderful meal.
My favorite thing to do after our meal was explore the library and cigar room. Each room had its own story. The color palettes in each room made me feel different emotions. The library is so cozy and calm. With velvet red drapes, splashes of green in the decorations, and a hint of gold around the room, this place is great for having quiet time, catching up on reading, or just having a drink.
To sum it all up, Chateau de Courcelles is a great place to have a relaxing time and enjoy a magnificent meal. I recommend this place to all my family and friends!
We expect to return on our next road trip through France.
The hospitality and welcome by the staff and the château’s owner, Mademoiselle Anthonioz, are especially warm. My wife and I were unexpectedly upgraded to a wonderful room. The interiors of the hotel are among the finest we have ever encountered in our very extensive travels. The chateau’s lounges, dining rooms, and bedrooms are done in the finest, most sophisticated taste. The experience is indeed very special.
The château’s restaurant is definitely worthy of two Michelin stars and its wine list is both expansive and very reasonably priced. Breakfast is served, rather than offered buffet style, but it’s more than one can comfortably eat and of the very highest standard.
No one staying here will be disappointed.
