Chongqing Lao Zao 重慶老灶 Queens Reviews from The Last Year
It's always a good time at CQLZ.
Be warned that the wait is long, usually 2-3 hours Friday-Sunday, esp at dinner, so you should just come out down your name and then explore Flushing. The larger the group, the longer the expected wait (eg if more than 6, they only have 3 tables that size, so it takes a while). Beautiful interior reminiscent of an old Chinese village. The broth here is delicious. If you like spicy, the hot broth got you covered with however hot you want it. If you don't like spicy, the tomato broth and the mushroom broth are both solid, with the mushroom broth being more delicate. The meat and vegetables are all pretty fresh, and you should probably get 3-5 things per person depending on how hungry you are. The sauce is make as you want, and they have some recs for combinations at the bottom of the menu if you get overwhelmed with the options. Definitely worth a try. This is our go to hot pot spot.
Favorite hotpot place in NYC, hands down.
Super authentic chongqing flavors aka super spicy. Their ingredients are fresh and unique. Some of my favorites were the black tripe, homemade shrimp paste, taro balls. Their service is also great, severs are always checking up and refilling our soup base. We arrived around 4:30/5PM on a Friday evening, knowing it gets extremely crowded and they don't take reservations, only waitlist which didn't seem to work for us.
Chongqing Lao Zao brings the vibrant flavors of Sichuan
Chongqing Lao Zao brings the vibrant flavors of Sichuan cuisine to the heart of Flushing, NY, offering a tantalizing taste of authentic Chinese hotpot. Nestled amidst the bustling streets of this diverse neighborhood, this spot captures the essence of Chongqing's cuisine. A particular highlight of this place is the interior, really really scenic. We went with a big group of friends and it they accommodated about 8 of us with no issue.
If you're looking for a different kind of experience of
If you're looking for a different kind of experience of hotpot I definitely recommend ChongQing! I do recommend coming here before 7pm; or else you'll be waiting for 1+ hours. I came here at 6pm and was seated right away, a couple of times I've gotten here it was after 6pm, and the wait is long so definitely come before then to secure a table! ChongQing offers a different variety of broth and food to go in your hotpot. I got the tomato and spicy broth, the spicy broth definitely has a hit of spice which you can ask which level you want it. They have different cuts of meats and the quality of the meat were amazing. There is two floors in the restaurant, great for a party of 4 so you can try different things in the menu! The service was top-notch, making the overall dining experience enjoyable. The seats weren't that comfortable, but the aesthetics were worth it. Will definitely be back again!

I've been dying to try this place for a while now and I'm so glad I had the chance to. My friends and I came here and it was about a 45 mi wait during peak time. The interior ambiance is filled with charming knick-knacks and intricate details that perfectly complement the dining experience. From bibs for diners to bags for coats, they've thought of everything to ensure comfort. While they offer a sauce bar, the flavor of the soup was already so incredible that it didn't need any enhancement. Be warned, though, the soup packs a serious punch with its abundance of chilis.. even if you order mild. Honestly, everything was so good. I will def come back again!
Visited this Chinese hotpot place and despite the long
Visited this Chinese hotpot place and despite the long line, the experience was worth the wait. The food was fantastic, with magical soup bases that added an extra layer of flavor. The service was top-notch, making the overall dining experience enjoyable. The seats weren't that comfortable, but the aesthetics were worth it. WARNING THOUGH! The MILD spicy soup base was almost too spicy even for me, and I consider myself an above average spice lover.
LOVED the interior of this place! We had to wait ~30
LOVED the interior of this place! We had to wait ~30 minutes but we just walked around and got boba in the area to pass the time. We did a split broth with the lowest level for spice which was still a little spicy for me - which is usually very rare for me. Standard ingredients and adds on. Service was a little slow although it might have been where we were seated that caused this. Still a great place and worth the visit for the whole experience !
I think it's even better than the hotpot I've had in China.
Even though it's very spicy, I'm enjoying it a lot. The fact that there's always a long queue here indicates how popular the restaurant is.
This was the highlight of the trip to Flushing.
The interior has all the knic nacs and details that are befitting of such a place. They have bibs for people and bags for coats. They have a sauce bar, but the flavor of the soup was already amazing. There was a ridiculous amount of chilis in the soup. Yes, it was spicy. Did we order the spicy? I forgot. I did use a ton of tissue paper (which they had a stack in the table) because I was sweating profusely! The milk beef was tender and delicious. I highly recommend that choice. Overall, great experience and food. It was tough to get a table. They had an app that tracked your table and time. But still highly popular making it difficult to just sit down. Would I come here again? Yeeeees!
Take this review with a grain of salt because this was our
Take this review with a grain of salt because this was our first time ever to a hot pot restaurant. I'm half Chinese but this was never something we did growing up. We enjoyed the food and the overall experience immensely and hope to be back soon to try some more options, and hopefully with more people. We walked in after parking down the street and they seated us right away despite it being 12:30 on a busy Saturday. It was cold and windy outside and walking in here was so heavenly- the ambience is warm and relaxing and the smell of the hot pot was incredible. We sat at a tatami table which didn't seem like a big deal when they asked if we wanted to sit there or at a regular table - but after sitting there through this meal I would caution against it unless you're keeping up with your mobility exercises. Both of us had one leg fall asleep from sitting cross legged for so long, and after awhile my knees were getting a little tired of being stuck in that position. It was possible to extend my legs since it was only the two of us at a table for 4, but I would recommend sitting at a regular table. Since this was our first foray into this type of food we really had no idea what to get. Our server was fantastic! She walked us through it and helped us select items we would enjoy. She also wisely steered us away from getting the medium spicy broth and had us get the mild and holy heck I'm glad she did! Again I'm half Chinese and grew up eating spicy home cooked Chinese food but this was plenty hot for me. My sinuses were completely cleared out by the end of the meal. Maybe that was TMI for a food review, but if you're not used to eating very spicy food be forewarned- this is HOT. I don't remember everything we ordered - my favorite meats were the beef meatballs and the shredded beef with cilantro. We made a bunch of dipping sauces which was a little overwhelming at first not knowing what we needed but once I got going it was just like having all your kitchen go tos in one spot. Like others I was a little surprised at the bill but it was a huge meal and everything seemed to be made from high quality and fresh ingredients.

Is this an appointment for a leather appointment at the Hermes Store? And if so, how do they switch the appointment to my name?
