Nice food. Great service. A little cramped.
Chianti is a nice place for a dinner. We visited on a Friday night so it was understandably busy. But the service was prompt, the food was good. One of us found the drink a little less exciting than what she wanted, they replaced it immediately and got it spot on. I felt the tables are a little close. So that made conversation difficult. And we didn’t feel like lingering over the dinner.

The food is excellent here. We had a crispy chicken roulade, lasagne, and a pork linguine. All the dishes were one of the best of Italian dishes I have eaten in India. The service was good, food was served in around 20 minutes. Friendly staff and neat ambiance. They have a range of wine and wine based cocktails. Mocktails are available and they are also well prepared.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely bad treatment by head waiter Sumant
I have been to Chianti Indiranagar atleast 8-10 times now. The food there is decent, and that has been our main reason for visiting the restaurant. But the way we have been treated here during our visits, especially today’s visit makes us regret stepping into this place. We would like to call out head waiter Sumant’s behaviour towards us. From the minute that we stepped in, we have been biased based on our ethnicity. We were shown to a table, but when we ordered our starters, they didn’t take note of it, and said “what did you say” after all the items were repeated twice. This was not the behaviour for the tables adjacent to ours where, the head waiter immediately went, greeted them, explained the menu, made note of their items and suggested specials. When the food was ready, our soup, and anti-pasti were all dumped together on our table, and by the time we were able to complete an item, the other ones went cold. When the table behind us was very noisy and we requested a change of tables, they laughed at us and told us all the other tables were reserved. We HAD A RESERVATION too. Post requesting again, they told us we can move. Please note that there were atleast 7 empty tables at that time. The other tables were constantly checked, and the headwaiter asked them if everything was good. Despite being very regular customers, there was not even a smile or a greeting for us. Every single table around us was visited and checked if things were all good except ours. When we ordered dessert, and the dessert plate and spoon was placed in front of us, headwaiter came to the table and asked our table waiter what we ordered and why the spoons were being placed. The basic decency would be to ask this a little away from our table and not in front of us. This is especially bad because this wasn’t the behaviour for any other table. Our bill (for 2 people) was 3000/-, and we have always paid similar bills during all our visits. We have never once complained, but the treatment and partial behaviour towards us in comparison to all tables around us make us feel extremely awful. We don’t know if our ethnicity or language that we speak is an issue. But please do not show such treatment towards anyone.

I read a review that this was the "closest to authentic Italian food" that you can get here. As it turns out, the "closest" Chianti gets is not nearly as close as it necessitates to qualify as "authentic Italian food". Strangely, all the positive reviews are from native Indian people, and the relatively bad reviews are the ones from people who have lived in the US/Europe for a while! 1. The waiter who seated me gave me a table for four while I was alone. The senior waiter then came, asked me if I was alone or not, stared at the entire table as if I was swallowing his property, and left. 2. This senior waiter decided to wait on me. Perhaps he wanted to squeeze the max out of me now that they gave me a table for four. After the first Italian wine I had, he pushed for brand recommendations that he had for me. Both were Indian, one was a Rose wine and the other was Merlot. His recommendations were mediocre and it felt as if he pushed out the brands that were not moving. 3. I ordered Penne Pasta with Alfredo sauce, with specific vegetables (Broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and sun dried tomatoes). He "forgot" to add sun dried tomatoes, and there was literally one piece of broccoli. He added beans and capsicum even though I had specifically mentioned not to add them. 4. The Alfredo sauce was terrible. It was watery and lacked flavor. 5. This senior waiter then came and asked me, with a smile, if I wanted any deserts. I asked ordered Tiramisu. It was alright but again I have had much better quality Tiramisu when I was in the US. Please don't call any of this authentic because it is not. 6. Then I went to the restroom. You might as well be better off if you went to the public toilet in one of the Indian railway bogies. Such an expensive restaurant and you don't have time to keep the restroom clean? In the end, for three glasses of small portioned wine glasses, one pasta dish, one salad, and one tiramisu, I paid Rs. 3555. I will never go back here. The best part about going to an Italian restaurant is not just the ambience, and quality of food. It is the way you are treated by the hosts. It is actually true with any restaurant but this aspect sticks out like a sore thumb when I was in this restaurant. I was a loss making deal for them as I was alone. On top of that, they made me feel that I am there to make profit for them, and not to have a good Saturday evening which I decided to spend with myself, alone. They made me feel more miserable than I was when I went in there, hungry, hoping for quality treatment. This is no different from any other restaurant in India. They don't give a damn about you. You are just one among the zillion other sheep in the herd that are lined up to make money for them. You will keep going there even when you see that they are treating you badly. Even the lowest class of Italian restaurants in the US (like for example Olive Garden) beats Chianti by a miles. Mind you, people who go to Olive Garden are minimum wage workers looking for the cheapest and best food.

When I think about Italian cuisine in Bengaluru, a few options spring up.. Chianti, Via Milano, Pasta Street to name a few.. I am not accounting for the ones in the 5* hotels.. Among all these, Chianti is my wife's and my personal favorite. We have made extensive tour of Italy, and trust me Chianti's food comes the closest to the ones that we've tasted in Italy. Be it their thin crust pizzas, or pastas, such as Bolognaise or Carbonara, mostly all the items we have tasted there are just A-class. and we've visited Chianti multiple times. The price may be a bit on the higher side, but every penny is worth.

We went there for an early lunch, The staff were polite and helped us choose what to order. The breads were very good as was the food. The quantity was more than adequate. They had a list of wines but we ordered mock cocktails, a blend of fruit juices, which were very refreshing. It is a good place for lunch though I was told it can get a bit crowded after 1 O'clock with the office crowd. Parking space is limited but fine if you take an "Uber"

It's all over bangalore and I understand that the kitchen dishes same quality.. Which is super food. The pizza are authentic as they come. Sauce, cheese, crust... Full Hog. The lamb chops were all succulent and well done. Beef steak looked yum but I was so done. Will try next time. Tiramisu was nice and rich. Could barely eat couple of spoons. Sipping wine from the (this one is also not available 😕) it was a good experience and worth another try. Where in bangalore you decide since they have an outlet at many places now.

The taste was good. But, the food was, in general, a little salty. The interior was also quite cozy and comfortable. The desert for example tiramisu was delicious.

I happened to travel to Bengalore yesterday after returning from USA and I really wanted to have some Italian food. I was surprised at the great taste that Chianti offered to my satisfaction. The ambience is nice and quiet.

We enjoyed the food and the ambience. We went veg and had the margarita pizza. The ravioli was good as were the aglio olio mushrooms It went well with the white wine sangria The decor is muted and the music in the background Friendly and quick service

The quality of the food was excellent. Ambience is also comfortable and nice. The plating and presentation is very good. Nice place to have a Sunday brunch chilling with a wine.

We were looking for a decent place and realized that we had a good offer from this place (on a bank card). We have visited this place earlier, but wanted to try again. Overall decent place, good ambiance, but nothing exceptional when you compare it to price. Food was decent, but then there are many other places offering equally good food at reasonable prices. Overall, with offer, it was decent deal, but otherwise we would have found to be expensive (Just meal was 1800 Rs for two, no desserts, no drinks)

This time we were tad disappointed with the service and food, having visited this restaurant quite often in the past. The waiters were persuasive on having alcohol. The salad lettuce was limp and the pizza toppings (ham) tasted rubbery and definitely stale. Quote a.let down from previous meals.
