Stunning building and less than comfortable stay.
The castle exterior and grounds are lovely and thrilling to walk around. We were excited to see the deer and feed them though we didn't have time to use the pool. The rooms were another story. Ours was dated, unfunctional... no drawers, no washcloths, the toilet area was impossible for privacy to shut the door so you had to shut the hallway... it was uncomfortable and not a four-star or even three-star experience in the room. We had zero wifi the entire three days and the staff was not helpful when we called or told them at the front desk. Basically, they told us sometimes it doesn't work... used data for over three days. The breakfast as some have mentioned was expensive and for me if you don't eat meat or want bread, it's terrible. So with nothing around the castle to get coffee or food you are stuck with self serve for 25 euros to get coffee. They have an excellent restaurant at night so I'm not sure why they don't put more effort into a better breakfast. We loved the building and the music room and statues and grounds. I bought some food when we were leaving on the shelf in the lobby to take home. Once home i noticed the date was expired and threw it out. That sums up the care they seem to take with this property. For one night passing through it's fun to stay at a castle but for an extended stay it's not comfortable enough or a nice enough experience to recommend.
Be the first to ReplyNice Castle visit with negative restaurant experience
Great impression of the castle and impressive. Nice room on top floor. However, floors covered by floor carpets was not expected as me and my wife have asthma and the carpets were dirty. The swimming pool was not cleaned. We enjoyed an 8-course menu in the evening, which was tasty, a bit overpriced. The manager of the restaurant, from Saint-Martin, was very anoying. He pushed us several times to buy very expensive wines and acted very non professional and non friendly. He behaved especially ugly when we were paying the hotel bill next day. He tried to charge us some expencive wines that we had not consumed. He was angry, shouting in the reception in front of us and other guests, almost aggressive . We went there with friends, all of us owners of accommodation businesses and I hope that this message will reach the owner of the castle.

Modern luxury in a building steeped in history. A five star restaurant with excellent food served by a delightful (and efficient) staff. And an excellent wine list to suit all pockets and tastes. So good that we allowed the maitre d'hotel to choose our wine for us - and he was spot on. Superb bedrooms with probably the best cleaning team we've ever encountered. And a brilliant location with views across miles of vineyards to the distant hills.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed is an understatement
This was the most disappointing part of my three week tour in Provence. My Husband and I arrived here with certain expectations as we were extremely enticed by the photos loaded up on their website. Our stay was supposed to be a three night stay along with a wine pairing at their most fancy advertised Restaurant. We were told we had been upgraded to a suite and the welcome was rather nonchalant and not what I would have expected. I have gotten a better welcome in a Best Western. The receptionist checked us in, carried our luggage and took us to our room. Once he opened the door, I was immediately appalled to see what they call one of their nicest suites. The rug in the room looked used and abused, full of stains and emanating an old smell. The Duvet had large stains. I refused to sit nor stay in that room that looked like a dirty Motel. The bathroom had no shower and only a bathtub. We were accommodated in another room as we had zero desire to be further insulted. To make matters worse, breakfast was a total disaster. One cook and one server in the entire restaurant. We asked for coffee and it was serve it yourself style on a table with an attitude by the chef when asked as to why we were not being served. This was certainly not what this place advertises on their website nor what Chateau & Relais stands for. We left the same day and cancelled the rest of our stay. Whatever goes on in that Hotel, it needs to be addressed and reevaluated by Relais & Chateaux.

Very pleasant accomodation. Bathroom was a but strange as there was no shower curtain so water everywhere in the morning but that wasn't a problem - st least not mine. Decent breakfast and overall ddecent value for moey. Their restauarant wasn't open on Mndays but they booked me into a very nice restaurant a 5 minute drive away called Le Lievere de Temps which I´ve reviewed separately.
Be the first to ReplyA place to avoid: expensive and poor value for money
Spent 1 night yesterday. A "maid's room" for a handsome amount of money. Then, once in bed, from 10pm until 3am, a group of adults played, sang shouted continuously under our windows, in the street. Phonic isolation doesn't exist in that place: I slept 2 hours. You trust a serious and professional hotel management, not to sell catastrophic rooms, don't you? You shouldn't trust this one. Restaurant is almost ok, almost. All in all a disappointing stay for hundreds of € a night: will not return.

A beautiful Castle with very nice staff, however can do much better with the decoration and the lights in the rooms. The the pool area and the parc have a great potential but we found it very neglected. Food wise, although at night we had a very refined diner with great service, the breakfast was terrible : bad service, average quality (i even find hair in the scramble eggs), fruit salad really not appetizing, with cheap paper napkins and placemats, not a relais et château type of breakfast.
