Dinner under the Manhattan Bridge
Local in the immediate vicinity of the Manhattan Bridge. Stunning view from the room as well as obviously along the road. For this reason, dinner is recommended. Original but not exceptional dishes. Friendly staff and average prices.

The location is absolutely gorgeous concerning the view and the staff was very friendly - so two stars . But the food was ridiculously little . Tiny pasta portion , 3 scallops , one oyster per person planned … for 180.- And we have made a reservation for our 10 people group months before asking for a candle or something like that as my daughter had birthday on 01/01… nothing . We would have expected more reading all these reviews .

Nice lively dinner spot- unfortunate that configuration of seating only allows 2/3 tables to enjoy the river view- the rest are cramped together- Food is very good and prices decent- nice waitstaff-?nothing special- would not recommend

My husband and I went for dinner on a Monday night. Beautiful location but that’s about it! We ordered the ceasar salad, sent it back! The dressing was so bitter from so much garlic we couldn’t eat it! They brought us a plain one with dressing on the side it was better. My husband ordered the lobster pasta and it was great, I ordered the pork and it was terrible. It was fried pork cutlet like snitzell, over cooked and dry! Not good! Would not recommend this restaurant ! Service was very good, it wasn’t his fault the kitchen wasn’t sending out good food!

We made a reservation for Saturday Brunch! We arrived in advance and they accommodated us immediately. The restaurant is relatively small, so I suggest making a reservation. The view is beautiful, you can see both bridges (Brooklin and Manhattan). We ordered burgers, they were delicious! I recommend visiting especially for the view!
Be the first to ReplyA lovely brunch spot!
Went here for brunch, and was very impressed by the décor and the view of the Brooklyn Bridge when we arrived. The choice of the 4 dips with the flatbread for an appetizer was excellent, particularly the labneh and the pistacio feta. Yum! Had a smash burger, and my wife had an omelet, and my mother had the whitefish with eggs. Everyone loved their food. The service was decent, nothing spectacular, but it was an excellent experience with excellent food. We would definitely be back to this place in the future!

We constantly dine at gourmet restaurants worldwide. The ONLY question to ask at this superior dining experience is which is better the good? The view? The top notch service? I can only tie them at 11 on a scale of 1-10. We need to find a bridge for you in Rancho Mirage Calif. so you’ll open a Celestine back home. 😎

Beautiful restaurant with stunning view! The food is delicious. Recommend all of the "dips" and the leek gratin. LOVE the natural wine list, we had a beautiful rose pet nat. We sat at 9pm with a reservation, they food came out at a leisurely pace which was totally fine with us, we were there to enjoy, but at 10:40pm we still had all of our food in front of us and more wine in the bottle, they shut the music off, turned the lights up, and starting putting the chairs on the tables. Be the first to ReplyNoisy, noisy, noisy!!!
Let’s address the elephant in the room regarding Celestine: the place is NOISYl!!! And I’m not talking about an energetic vibe, nor loud diners, nor noisy ambiance music. I’m talking railway-side noisy. Celestine is near enough from Manhattan Bridge and its railways to make the noise of passing trains a constant, noisy annoyance. Not 15 minutes had passed when we were already upset about the noise. Can’t help but wonder how the staff get to endure such noise for prolonged periods of time. Maybe that’s why they’re not in their best mood. Anyhow… the place is visually beautiful, and I bet more than one has been lured to Celestine by looking at those gorgeous pictures of the restaurant and its view to -precisely- Manhattan Bridge and the East River shoreline. The view at sunset is gorgeous!!! But if only pictures could talk… Moving on to the menu, be aware of Celestine’s very Mediterranean-oriented menu. This is not a letdown in the least but might be striking for some people. As starters we had the pistachio feta dip and the muhammara accompanied with the house-made flatbread. They were superb and paired lovely with the outdoor seating and weather. We followed with the roasted half chicken, which felt a bit over-spiced to my taste but nothing to worry about. What was a disappointment indeed was the dark chocolate cheesecake: it felt cheap, both the chocolate and the cookie crumble(?) base, not in the least creamy nor cheesy, and the presentation mismatched Celestine’s. I’d be hesitant on recommending this place. Although I know noise is not Celestine’s fault, it can’t be denied that the whole experience is affected because of it. Maybe locals, who will have countless opportunities to dine in New York are willing to go for it, but after a rushed, tiresome touristy day in Brooklyn, we were really looking forward to having a relaxing dinner; and however beautiful and tasty the restaurant, we did not have what we were after.

We made a reservation at Celestine as location was great and based on the website / socials the food looked really good too. This was our third trip to NYC and we thought it was hard to go wrong on the food front… we were wrong - Celestine was seriously underwhelming and very overpriced. We arrived a little early and hoped to grab a drink at the bar before sitting down. Instead we were told our table was ready and we were encouraged to sit down straightaway. The first thing we noticed was that the restaurant was freezing! It was a chilly, wet evening and we were so cold we had to keep our jackets on. The food menu itself looked fairly good and we easily found what we wanted to eat. The problem was that, on arrival, it was really nothing special. The starters were ok (we shared a couple of dips with crudités and flatbreads), the main (we both had steak) was FAR too salty - I’d go as far as to say the greens and side of broccoli we ordered were near inedible due to the amount of salt. Being typical brits we didn’t was to make a fuss but opted to leave after our mains to get dessert elsewhere. I’m glad we did as not only was this our worst meal in the city it was also the most expensive - $350 (incl. tip) was eye watering for two cocktails and two courses with a bottle of wine that was far inferior to a bottle we’d pick up from the supermarket. Having had amazing meals at Michelin starred restaurants for less we’d recommend going elsewhere. The views are really great though!

Came here for dinner with some friends and we had a great time. If you are a fan of Mediterranean food, you will really enjoy the menu here and what Celestine has to offer. I went with their flatbread, which came out warm and soft. It is in a great spot since you can easily walk along the river or walk to other bars nearby as well!
Be the first to Replyfar from upscale
portions are small, table setting and glassware is cheep, Service was ok , but far from professional . ALL TABLES SURFACES ARE DAMAGED AND CRUCKED. Table are too close to each other. music is loud and not for relaxing dinner. we came 5 Min before 5pm ( reservation time) and concierge told us to wait outside in 90+ weather, concierge was not appropriately dressed . we wanted to have later dinner but on Rezi only 5 pm was available with deposit to reserve , but restaurant was still half empty when we left around 7:30 .We will never come again.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and view!
The food was amazing and delicious. The lamb was flavorful and melted in our mouths! We loved their creative cocktails and flatbread too. We are a tough crowd to please and we were giddy with our meal!

We had walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, didn't know where to eat, and were dreading what we might end up with, but we found Celestine and had the most delicious salads, flatbreads and dips. A great view of the river and Manhattan.
And the price was so reasonable.
Great host and amazing view!
Celestine helped me to arrange the perfect dinner for my newly engaged friends! The food was delicious, the view was spectacular and the staff & host Casey made sure they will never forget their special day. Definitely recommend a visit!

A beautiful restaurant with a good menu and selection of wines. A middle eastern and Mediterranean ambiance. Great view of the Manhattan bridge across the East River. We went for dinner so the lights across the water and bridge made it especially cool. Food was excellent with both main courses and starters of a great quality. Wine was excellent with a good choice including Lebanese wines.

Absolutely loved this restaurant. The view is spectacular but that’s only the beginning. Every plate felt like someone put Loya of love in it and every drink was well curated and delivered. The style of Mediterranean food and simple but richly made dishes are a joy. I truly recommend it for any event.
Be the first to ReplyOut of this world view, menu could do with a greater variety
View is indeed spectacular, place smaller than expected. Reason for taking off a star is the lunch menu. Def lacking variety. I'm plant based and often struggle to find options in any restaurant but my friend is a meat eater who didn't feel like lamb/burgers that day and she felt there weren't a lot of options either. We also kinda got a bad vibe from the staff as in "our place is fabulous and we don't care what you believe". The place *is*really pretty and maybe our server just wasn't feeling it that day, I want to believe. The food that we did get in the end was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyWe only had a drink but food looked really great
We dropped in here after having had dinner elsewhere in Dumbo. We sat at the cosy bar, which had a great view of the kitchen, and the food coming out of it. They have a very interesting selection of beers, wine and cocktails. The barman was very personable, and helped us select the Sicilian Narello Mascalese, and Ayunta wines which were both very good. The food is Eastern Mediterranean and - watching it come out of the kitchen - we wished that we had eaten here. We will certainly do so on our next visit. We were here at night, and at the bar which is right where you enter, but the restaurant is right on the DUMBO waterfront, and has great views as you can see in the attached photo from their website.
