Worth the trip wherever in Slovenia you are!
We visited this restaurant and winery while in Slovenia in September with a group. The host and his family were ALL unbelievably friendly and informative not only about the food and his wines, but also about the history of the town and his efforts to resurrect it. He had restored the building the restaurant was in, the nearby one where he made his wines, and the 200-year-old one where he grew up. His plans are to renew the town, one building at a time. The courses of food were all incredible and the atmosphere of the restaurant welcoming and comfortable. It was like eating in a small, authentic, local, out-of-the-way eatery that we had simply happened upon on a back street, even though our tour bus had taken us there. After the meal, he took us to his small, intimate wine shop and winery where he makes his varieties and even let us crush the wine! Many of us in our group bought several wines which we greatly enjoyed later at an impromptu party on the terrace of our hotel. It is clear that he takes pride in his family, his town, his wine and food, and his restaurant. Should we ever return to this part of the country, we WILL eat here (and buy some wines)!

We had a memorable experience. The owner and his family went out of their way to make us (and everyone there) feel welcome. Kinda like having dinner at grandma’s house only better. Complete with a tour of the 600 year old house, 750 wine cellar, and a guitar serenade. Good and wine were terrific, as well.

Two couples spontaneous visit when restaurant was full. Staff was very friendly and found us some place and food was fantastic. We also drank some wine (Pinela) and Davorin (owner) showed us the old city and wine cellar and talked about history. Worth the visit, will come back again.

We have stopped at the restaurant while visiting the village Goče. We drank great wine and ate exceptional food. The staff was very kind and also told us a lot about the village. We will definitely be back again!

We visited this place after mountain biking in neighborhood. We were a group of more than 20 people and announced our visit couple of days in advance. Host was very kind, he guided us through the village, showed wine cellar, offered wine tasting. Dinner was excellent and home grown wine (Pinella) also... Everybody agreed that we will come back...

If you want to eat authentic Slovenian cuisine as the Slovenians eat it, this is the place to go. We stopped in the lovely village of Goce on our way back to Italy. We were welcomed by the owner who gave us a brief history of the village and the restaurant. The lunch was phenomenal; fresh ingredients accompanied by wines made by the owners. Forget about the tourist traps in the centre of Ljubljana, this is the real deal as far as Slovenian food is concerned. The price was incredibly cheap as well considering we basically ate like kings. I really can’t recommend the place enough, we’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Slovenia. Top marks.

We went to this restaurant after reading reviews on trip advisor. To our disappointment Jelka informed us that they were closed due to wine picking. I think she felt sorry for us seeing the disappointment on our faces and offered to show us around and gave us a glass of wine and light refreshments. She was so kind and we felt like treasured guests. Thank you for something special in Vipava Valley. If you are thinking of going she suggested calling in advance.
Be the first to ReplySecret treasure in Goče village
I visited Goče village and farmhouse Cejkotova domačija organized with a group of friends, after a trip to Štanjel in the Karst region. Beautiful Vipava valley, Goče village, which is essentially an open-air museum and this farmhouse in the heart of the village - as a secret treasure, hidden gem. You have to park your car outside and then walk on the main street until wooden sign that appears on your right side and show you the way. Your arrival must be announced, they are not open every day…
Smile on the owners face, beautiful views around, gourmet pleasures and hospitality. You don’t have a feeling that you are one of the guests, it is like that you came home or at least to your good friend. Delicious cold or warm appetizers and main dishes, homemade bread, local fruit, excellent wines. If you want and have a time, among the meals, Mr. Davorin takes you to one of his cellars and to a guided tour of the village, to show you the sights and present you the history of the village and region. Goče village is unknown jewel that is worth to visit. Thanks again to Mr. Davorin and his team for a wonderful day, gourmet delights and excellent wine… It was a perfect day to enjoy and relax!
Unique place for authentic food
Village Goce is a hidden and pristine historical gem. Short cultural introduction makes lunch at Cejkotova quite unique. Menu includes misc. meat and cheese starters with fantastic pršut, frtalja and soups. Porc steaks were excellent, gnocchi with asparagus delicious. Chocholate dessert outstanding for a country-style restaurant. Home made apple juice, wine and spirit/liquer are remarkable. will come back.

Nice home made food. Good wine and frendly service. Wine cellar with tasting. Possibility to buy wine. Worth to visit.
Be the first to ReplyAll-inclusive experience in this stunning little town of Goče
As a culinary enthusiasts exploring Slovenian wine and cuisine our research led us to beautiful and mostly undiscovered town named Goče situated between Vipava valley and Karst region. In the very center of this hidden gem lies Cejkotova domačija. This old stone built homestead, now renovated and converted into three-level restaurant is an experience of itself. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by Mr. Davorin-the homeowner, winemeaker and great dessert maker as we found out later on. He introduced us to some fine household wine samples from the region and started bringing us food with a brief explanation with every course. We were reminded that everything is either homegrown or produced from the regional farms.
We started off with an appetizer consisting of a few samples of dryed meet with a side of Tolmin cheese and black pepper, cottage cheese and roasted eggplant with garlic and herbs along with some nice bread which his daughter baked.
Next we got the soup with noodles which was a nice addition to home made wine sampling. Among many varieties they even have orange wine and a few secret and delicious projects of mr. Davorin
The main course consisted of delicious pork tenderloin in gravy and roasted potatoes with a side of vegetables and mixed salad.
For the last course mr. Davorin pleasantly surprised us yet again with the delicious and perfectly balanced dessert made fromViljamovka pears in sweat wine sauce, cake roulade and panna cotta with fruit jam.
Afterwards Mr. Davorin gave us a lot of fascinating historical facts about Goče and extensive tour aroud his wine production facilities and a tasting trip into his centuries old wine cellar which gave us a perfect closure of our trip.
We strongly recommend to take a trip to Goče and visit Cejkotova domačija and have a true domestic experience of Slovenian backroads and warm hospitality of mr. Davorin and his family.
