This is one of the regular Friday night restaurants we go, dishes are amazing and service is incredible. To describe it simply, it's a spacious modern Italian restaurant where food, wine, service and atmosphere blend beautifully together.

Food was high quality--I wish there was more on the plates! Pasta is fresh and handmade, prosciutto is excellent, ame drinks were tasty. Definitely pricey, but definitely worth it!

Went in with a friend to see if they had a table for two available and they sat us down at the bar area without making us aware of the separate menus - only realised afterwards after questioning and a quick google to find that there was a restaurant menu that had a lot more options. My friend and I look quite young - not sure if they profiled us/assumed something based on that. The food and service was fine otherwise, but would've probably gone somewhere else if we knew there weren't any tables at the restaurant. Think they could have done a lot better and made us aware before sitting us down.
Be the first to ReplyThe service was amazing.
There wasn't a lot of Gf desserts to choose from, so they literally made me, from scratch a gf dessert. It was my bday and I was sharing it with family and it was a great night. Only thing I'd say is I had the seafood pasta and it had a lot of water in it, so really couldn't taste much as it was so watery, but everything else was great! Nice atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyGreat cozy place for lunch.
Had the duck and chocolate pudding and both were spot on. Would definitely come back and try other items on the menu.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant below level location with a beautiful room.
It's our first morning in Melbourne and all we wanted was a solid breakfast. We had the salcicce. Great coffee and fantastic sausage.

Best Italian meal I have had in Melbourne for ages!Four of us went to Cecconi's for dinner on Saturday night and enjoyed everything about the place. It was busy and noisy when we got there at 8.00pm for dinner and were promptly seated and served by the excellent serving staff. Everything was crisp and pressed and attention to detail was high. We were not rushed and had excellent service throughout the night. The food was exemplary! We had scallops, risotto & carpaccio for entree's. Sublimely cooked and presented with stunning flavours. For mains we had duck, fish, rabbit & veal. All done in a unique way showing tender flavours and perfectly cooked. My apple, walnut tort for dessert was a highlight! This is a fantastic place that is setting high standards for food, service and appearance. Loved it! Not cheap but worth it for special occasions.

It would be better to reserve before coming out in here, because the place is quite popular. A great atmosphere overall with many satisfied customers who try out their delicious food.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent lunch special here.
$35 for two courses and a glass of wine. Choice of courses is sound. I had the olives and fish of the day. Mighty fine choice on my part. They were delicious. Make sure you arrive early, like before 12.30, if you want to be in and out in a reasonable time. Service is sound with just the right mix of haughtiness and friendliness. Good on them. Recommended

We decided to spend our anniversary dinner here and the Australian open women's final (Go Kerber!). I made a booking in advance because I actually found this restaurant through Yelp. We discovered this restaurant was only a short walk from our hotel and then down into a basement like setting. Knowing the price tag of this place, I was expecting something that would give me bang for my buck. Instead we got maybe three quarters bang. Interior wise, this restaurant has got the whole classic Italian large dining area template down pat. Including cushion seats, dense long white table cloths, mirrored walls and matching diners in their Sunday best. Or Friday night sluttiest. Up for interpretation that one.For dinner, we had san daniele prosciutto & buffalo mozzarella, caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, basil and black olive crumbs, grilled swordfish with potato rosti, balsamic cherry tomato and pine nut salad and special of the night, pork belly.Coupled together, the prosciutto and caprese salad were a decent accompaniment to the mains. Although the portions were large, so could make for a main. All our favourite ingredients so why oh why didn't taste as good as it should've?Let's start with the caprese salad: soft and limpy.Grilled swordfish: Overcooked and rubbery. What potato rosti? God I'm so sick of overcooked swordfish, when will we find a restaurant who knows how to do this right?Pork belly: Nondescript, slapdash and chaotic. The only good dish was prosciutto & mozzarella because well they don't make that stuff, how could they possibly screw it up. Unless they don't serve it fresh. But I honestly would've preferred our entree and then leave especially if I'd known what the rest was going to taste like. Once again don't be fooled by my wonderful photos, looks better than it tasted. Won't be going here again I know many other contenders in Melbourne would be a better choice. What a shame because the service were quite decent and polite. Seems wasted here. This restaurant is all about atmosphere and not about the food, the 3rd star was for the setting.

Certainly an "occasion" restaurant, this is an institution that's easy to recommend. Set in a fancy, large dining room, service here is spotless. It's easy to feel spoilt here and you'd wanna hope so when you aperol spritz is setting you back $19. Note: it's not cheap. Expect to spend at least $150 a head. The meals here are classic options and done very well indeed. I had a king prawn starter with avocado and it was just wonderful. Crispy, perfectly cooked and delicious.Main course was a seafood linguine and this was well above average. Fresh seafood and house made pasta and all the good things you'd expect from somewhere like thisOur very nice (and very expensive) bottle of red came out very cold so not sure where they cellar their stuff but that was the only thing we could criticize from our night. We walked away having enjoyed a really lovely meal with wonderful people and saying we should do a "fancy" meal like that more often. It was beautiful and highly recommended.

It's easy to give five stars when you're not picking up the tab, but I would only do that if the restaurant delivered on the food and service. And Cecconi's delivered.25 of us in the private dining room for a celebration, the staff were attentive all night (4 hours) and the kitchen kept the food coming with the right amount of 'rest' time between each course. And a rest was needed, the serving size was excellent and more than I would have expected for a fine dining restaurant.Even though they called it a 'set' menu, there were at least 4 choices for each course (see menu pic) and the bar was open with many of guests opting for cocktails, most popular being a strawberry daiquiri and by the amount of them coming out of the bar they must have been good. I personally stuck with champagne.Every person could not compliment the food more. From calamari, a crab pasta, steak, scallops, homemade sorbet, every single one of us were delighted with our choices.Would I go there again? Absolutely! Though I'd need to save up first and it would be totally worth it.

There are a number of really good restaurants on Flinders Lane, and this is one of them. As you arrive you look down and in, and then there is a sense of formality in the way the restaurant looks. You enter and the sense of formality is diminished by the warm greeting and guidance that then occurs. We enjoyed a range of dishes however I was lucky to have choosen the calamari...simply stunning - tender, tasty and looked so appetising. And for mains the Tuna Steak was magnificent....lots of colour and that delightful juicy rare that makes this fish so special. Beans were our sides of the night which compliemented the fine food. The Curly Flat Pinot Noir was silky, rich and smooth....A great dinner .....
