Everything was amazing!!! We tried the chicken parm, calamari, burrata w/ bread, cannoli, & tiramisu. Everything was so delicious. We were so ready to eat that we forgot to take pictures! The service was really good as well. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh! Absolutely loved this place. I still think about the chicken parm. In terms of the ambiance, it was as very well decorated. The booths weren't my fav. It felt like my pants were sticking to the booth because of the leather or whatever it was made out of. Someone else in my party who sat in the booth also had the same issue. However, overall I still highly recommend this place. Reservations are tough to get, so if you get one, make sure you go and enjoy the delicious food.
I really enjoyed my experience at Caruso's Grocery.
While we weren't able to get a reservation and no tables were available, we lucked up with 2 seats at the bar. After tasting 2 of the wines, i ended up going with a glass of sparkling rose. For an appetizer we split the garlic ceaser salad ,which was great! The star of the night for me was the Spicy Neapolitan Ragu! It was flavorful and had just a little kick of spice. The menu notes that you can request it extra spicy. The noodles were also thick and cooked perfectly. 10/10 !
Very wonderful dining experience.
The food was excellent, and service was outstanding. The setting is charming with an equally pleasing ambiance. Reservations are a must especially on weekends as this is a very busy establishment. Seeing a good crowd is a sure sign that you made the right choice. Next time in DC it's definitely on the itinerary. Bill H. (Jenkintown, PA) - Saturday, Aug 16, 2025

One word, yummmn! Everything was perfect! The seafood di fravalo was perfect! So much seafood in every bite. The calamari was super crunch and tasty as well. And the French 75 was made perfectly!
Horrible spaghetti & meatballs.
Extremely salty dry sauce. Bread was served with salty vinegar as I thought it was cheese. Nasty!!! I never give reviews but my meal was horrible.

Ambiance was really nice and they treated us to two glasses of champagne for our anniversary. The food was alright. I thought the ragu didn't have much flavor, the Alfredo was very good. The garlic bread was great! Crรจme brรปlรฉe was great but sundae was pretty basic.

Omg...this Italian spot was unreal. Service was also amaaazing. Ordered the Limoncellotini which brought me back to Italy. The caprese salad was very fresh and tasty! The calamari was also very good, more on the fried side but still loved it. Now for the pastas....the Caruso's Alfredo was sooo rich and I loved the pasta noodles. The wild mushrooms and truffle butter was so tasty and unlike any pasta I've ever had. The spicy Neapolitan ragu was also very good and loved the beef and pork pieces in the sauce. The whipped ricotta was also a great touch. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or special occasion! Overall very impressed and would love to come back here again to try other menu items.
Cozy, romantic spot with delicious homemade
Cozy, romantic spot with delicious homemade Italian! Ambiance & Service: Caruso's is perfect for date night--dim lighting, charming artwork, and a warm, inviting vibe. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout. Food: - Garlic Bread Quattro Formaggi: Super garlicky, cheesy, and packed with flavor--great for sharing! - Penne Alla Vodka: Rich, creamy, and perfectly cooked. - Baked Eggplant Rollatini: Melt-in-your-mouth eggplant with a flavorful filling; the side of spaghetti was a surprising standout! TL;DR: Warm atmosphere, excellent service, and flavorful Italian classics--ideal for a cozy night out!
This place is nothing short of five stars.
We've been to Caruso's Grocery multiple times as a family, and everything we've ordered has been fantastic. Just a sampling: Appetizers: The Caesar and the Panzanella are both excellent and set the tone for a great meal. Entrรฉes: We've loved the baked ziti and a rich, earthy fusilli with mushrooms. The chicken parmesan is cheesy and deeply satisfying. The chicken piccata and trout piccata are both bright and buttery, with just the right amount of lemony zing. Drinks: Don't miss the gin martinis--they're expertly made. The Montepulciano is a great red to pair with almost anything, and the Limoncello is the ideal way to end the night. Kids: don't shy away from the kids menu. It's a great amount of food, and delicious with dessert and a drink. No chicken tenders here! And don't sleep on the desserts. They're every bit as good as the rest of the menu.
Fantastic experience here.
Everything we ate was basically excellent. I had the spicy ragu (outstanding). My husband had the baked cavatelli (good but mine was way better). For dessert we had the cannoli (the filling was incredibly smooth) and the creme brรปlรฉe (great balance of orange flavor and very silky). Highly recommend
My favorite date night spot! The staff are super friendly.
The food is phenomenal! My favorites are the Alfredo & the spicy Neapolitan ragu. The espresso martinis are delicious and the tiramisu is a must have to end the night

Carusos is a very solid authentic Italian place that actually holds up to all of their claims! Their noodles are hand made, their dishes are flavorful, the service is good. It's a very cute and quaint atmosphere! Very small so be sure to make a reservation way in advance or come very early/very late.
Beautiful interior.
Great service. The food is very delicious. I had the fra diavolo and the picata -- i recommend going with the picata.
Classic busy Italian eatery.
All food offerings are amazing, give it a try! I had the trout piccata, and of course the chicken parm is classic. Can't go wrong here!

Words cannot describe how much h I absolutely love this place (SE DC location). I've now been multiple times - everything has been phenomenal. Repeat orders include: tomato & basil caprese, creamy burrata, Carusos Alfredo (literally EVERY SINGLE TIME), spicy ragu, and of course the antipasti dirty martini! Honestly you cannot go wrong- you must get a reservation though because this place is always packed! Which I love to see because we need businesses to thrive! Carusos, you can expect many more heartfelt visits from me as I continue to express how much I love everything about this place!

Ngl...I had my doubts. Thought my dinner mate had set me up for the okie doke but much to my surprise this place was exactly as advertised and the food was delicious. Huge shout out to our server Scott who not only provided excellent service but provided mouth watering dinner recommendations for our table. We started the night off with the calamari. Had the fuselli (daily special) with seafood (menu modification) vice chicken and also ordered the mushroom and chicken Alfredo all with garlic bread as an appetizer. While some people just combine ingredients, it is clear that that the chef on duty can cook cook. (IYKYK) Warning the noise levels are not for the weak but when the food is this good... the energy in the establishment has to match it. 10/10 highly recommend.
Food was good (not great) but the terrible service
Food was good (not great) but the terrible service detracted from that. Brought appetizers before drinks. Brought the pasta side 10 minutes after bringing the eggplant and brought one incorrect entree and took 15 minutes to bring a new one. Was everyone supposed to wait until their food got cold so we could eat together or as what happened--we were all finished by the time his food was served. Barely an apology. It wasn't a staff shortage because plenty of staff standing around doing nothing (3 people at hostess desk).

I've wanted to come here for a while and so glad I did! I'm GF and was very happy with the options they had. They brought me GF bread and there were 2 noodle options that night: spaghetti and gnocchi. I got the penne alla vodka and really liked it. My non GF loved their pasta and apps as well!
Loved this spot.
It was our first time giving it a try. Great experience. The staff was welcoming and helpful and the food was delicious. We will definitely return.

My birthday weekend would not be complete with dining at
My birthday weekend would not be complete with dining at Caruso's Grocery in Capitol Hill for some Italian. My old reliable is the Spicy Neapolitan Ragu. How can a classic dish that is so simple be soooo good and why doesn't my spaghetti and meat sauce at home taste like this??lol The Spicy Neapolitan Ragรน is traditional, flavorful, amazing meat sauce that is cooked with love and to die for. Which is probably why it is featured on the cover page of their website. The Bucatini Pasta comes out smoking hot topped with a dollop of creamy whipped ricotta. Chef's kiss or "Molto Delizioso" (Italian for very delicious per google)
My friend and I went to Caruso's Grocery on a Sunday
My friend and I went to Caruso's Grocery on a Sunday evening. The DC location was smaller than I expected, but the decor made for a very cozy ambiance. Our server was very attentive. We orders the burrata with pesto, the spicy ragu with whipped ricotta, and the mushroom alfredo. We had an excellent time and hope to return soon!
The service and staff were phenomenal.
The food on the other hand, was not. The server was so kind as to remove my nephews order from the bill without asking and for that I would have usually let it go. I cannot. The chicken parm I ordered arrived overcooked to the point of being inedible. The sauce was more like tomato water and basil with a dash of garlic. It splashed and offended the spirit of every Italian lady I've ever known. The texture of the spaghetti itself was even weird- mind you I make semolina noodles from scratch so it isn't that I'm unfamiliar with their consistency. They tried to send the evidence home with me but it got left at the scene of the dinner crime, as you can see in the half eaten pic. The iced tea- I would advise drinking only bottled products because I swear the tea tasted like it was brewed from the Potomac River water. With no filter. It got left behind too. Hopefully I don't end up with dysentery or cholera after first drinking it. I'm telling chef boy r Dee they knocked his sauce and ran with it.
Loved it!
Wonderful food and great service. Nice ambiance and location too! The 3 of us all loved our entrees. Also got the garlic bread and shared a slice of cheesecake. Would definitely go back.

We came here on Xmas eve with some friends and it did not disappoint. Everything that we ate & drank was so delicious. The server was very kind and attentive. Just sitting down and looking around at everything on the walls is so fun! It's hard to get reservations, so we were lucky! Can't wait to go back!

Caruso's easily just topped our tall list of favorite restaurants in DC. Miriam and all the staff were lovely. We will be back soon!
No complaints about the food or my experience there.
The service was great, our waiter was friendly and attentive. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer, the chicken parm, and a ravioli special and all three dishes came out at a perfect temperature and tasted incredible. The restaurant has a smaller, cozy, and intimate feel that is perfect for date night.
Classic Italian restaurant
We called Caruso's mid day after getting a recommendation from a person who loves in the Capital District. The woman answering the phone was very friendly, quickly took our reservation and asked what the "occasion was" we replied two big birthdays. Once we arrived the same woman who took our phone reservation greeted us warmly and seated us in a cozy high top booth. Our server arrived at the table promptly and offered suggestions. The customer service and attention is top notch. Having spent a lot of time in Boston's North End, Caruso's felt like home. All three of our meals came out piping hot and were full of home made flavors. We declined desert although it looked terrific. Prior to our server bringing the bill however he arrived with three "on the house" cannolis topped with two birthday candles. A very sweet and thoughtful end to our delicious meal. Caruso's is a perfect place for a special occasion, date night or to entertain the in laws!
This is one of my favorite places! It's always so good.
I got the house salad to start; it was good but it had a lot of dressing on it, might ask for it on the side next time. I order the Chicken Parmigiana for my entree but substituted the spaghetti marinara for the Caruso Alfredo. It was amazing and delicious. The mix of creamy Alfredo with the chicken parm if you're looking to indulge this is it!
I ordered delivery & had an excellent experience.
My cavatelli with pork & sausage was very good. And my husband was happy with his veal. The food arrived just slightly after the hour that the restaurant said that it would. I was able to follow the progress of the driver & send a message to her regarding where to place the food. Because I was able to see her progress & received a text when she was nearing the house, I went to the front door & she placed the food directly in my hands. I had preheated the oven. So I warned the food for 10 minutes once it arrived. Perfect!
Good, service, drinks, everything was on point.
Celebrated girlfriends birthday here had 0 complaints whatsoever. 10/10 would recommend checking out if you can get a reservation.
