Be the first to ReplyNew spot in my hometown so I wanted to check it out.
The restaurant has an old diner vibe but with a more modern cooler feel which represents the newer vibe of the places popping up here. The breakfast menu is limited - it's a few breakfast sandwiches, toasts or granola. (Lunch there are more hot and cold sandwiches) I ordered the greens egg cheese which comes on a Kaiser roll. The sandwich was really good and filling. The flavors of the egg and greens with the sheep's milk cheese went really well together. The Kaiser roll was light and toasted nicely. Hubby had limited options because he can't have gluten and I'm surprised that this newer restaurant doesn't have gluten free bread available as most places nowadays do. He ordered the granola with yogurt and jam. I guess by its name, I should have guessed that it was mostly granola but we didn't think that when we ordered it. Half the bowl was granola, about a quarter of the bowl was yogurt. The yogurt was a good Greek yogurt, the strawberry jam was good and seemed homemade, and the granola was really good - we just didn't expect so much of it in comparison to the yogurt. My daughter ordered a chocolate croissant. It was good (she devoured it), but it was served room temp and would have been nice to have it warmed up. For me, overall good breakfast (but hubby would say otherwise bc of the limited options for him; maybe they can add a breakfast plate of eggs, bacon and the latkes or something to cater to those w gluten issues. Or carry gluten free bread...). Food came out pretty fast and my daughter and I enjoyed what we had. Cute restaurant and very clean. Street parking.

You won't be sorry. It's a revelation. Inside, nice to sit down for breakfast sandwiches. They have been some misses on the menu. But their bread is exceptional and they do deserve the love.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible pizza.
A depth of flavors and perfectly cooked. The pepperoni, pepperoncini and roasted cotta went so well together. Wow!
Be the first to Replyservice has improved since they opened.

The egg sandwich: the eggs were perfect, not overcooked like they are in 95% of the breakfast places. Also: spelt bread = deliciousness

is this my new favorite lunch spot? my friends and i got the italian sandwich, turkey sandwich, and a salad that i can't remember the name of (not super memorable salad), and a couple deli salads. the italian sandwich is INCREDIBLE. THE BREAD! highly recommend that. the turkey sandwich was also yummy and very fresh. the salad has large bits of stems and leaves so it wasn't super easy to eat. the coffee was solid and they had a great selection of pastries that were all really delicious. especially the plain croissant and apple tart! the interior has a vintage 50s vibe and is light and refreshing. the restaurant was busy, but servers were attentive.

This is specifically for their bread which, I'm sure if you're looking up this place you already know, is amazing. I love their House bread. Today I tried the Emmer which is similar to their House--with a substantial crispy crust and tender interior. The house has some tang to it. The Emmer replaces that tang with a little nuttier taste! I was told this is due to the ancient grains used to make the flour. I am a fan!

Soooo happy with this find! The meatloaf sandwich is perfection! I loved the spring salad with pea shoots and I had the tasty muffuletta. This place has a retro dinner feel and they make their own bread. Our server was so friendly and helpful. The saddest part was not realizing we'd left the leftovers until after we got home! Grrr. Will definitely be back. Oh! And they are organized with a separate take out window.

First the food is top notch: yummy egg sandwich and a delightful doughnut was what I got today. Second take home a loaf of bread bc it's so good. Third the service is ace. Most striking is how everyone working there seems happy to be there and enjoying what they are doing. So it's warm and welcoming! I sat at the counter and even learned a new kitchen trick!
Be the first to ReplyI'm not sure why there are long lines at this place.
I ordered an Italian sandwich with a side of potato salad. The Sandwich was basic and over priced (stingy on the meat). I would rather go to vons for a deli sandwich instead of this place.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent breakfast sandwiches.
We had the bacon and egg, the greens and the onion sandwiches. Perfect buns and well cooked eggs and crafted sandwiches . We also had a delicious lime doughnut and olive oil cake with Super creamy whipped cream on top. It is a noisy restaurant but excellent service and great coffee!

Very busy and bussin' breakfast place in Glassel Park! Went on a Saturday at 11-ish, had to wait 10-15 minute to be seated inside. We couldn't wait any longer so we were fine being seated on the counters.Sandwiches are fresh, tasty and filling! Ham Royale checked everything on my sandwich bucketlist! The Roast Beef was alright and kinda eh since maybe I expected that it would be bigger for the price. Key lime pie was the perfect amount of sweet and tangy! Please try this one! Would come back for sure!

For some reason I thought I had reviewed this place but I haven't! Sitting at work bored out of my mind so decided to be productive and write my review ;)Glad this place opened in my hood, we definitely need more tasty places to eat in Glassell Park (plus that means I don't have to drive out to Silverlake lol). The parking is a bit of a chore depending on what time you go, you can find parking in the residential area or if you are lucky, right in front but it can get pretty packed during lunchtime and weekends. It's always best to go during off hours obviously so you don't circle around looking for parking or wait forever. I have never eaten inside, only takeout. For takeout, they have a separate window where you line up- usually the line moves pretty quickly. I've ordered the Turkey Trot and the Side Sampler- both were very tasty and the portion size was good. The turkey trot has a nice little subtle kick from the horseradish (which I love) and their bread (which they are obviously known for) is on point. I've also gotten some of their pastries, including the Black Sesame Bostock (delish if you like sesame and nothing too sweet) and their donuts. The Side sampler lasted me for 2 meals, which is always great during these days of inflation. If you want a little bit of everything this is perfect (and a nice vegetarian option). I will need to stop by again to try out other options, trying to take it easy on the carbs (a real struggle, but my body says please) so took a little break. :) The area is super cute too, it's where Dunsmoor is located (haven't been yet) and a few cute little shops.

So it's six months after my first annoying and long review (chock full of obnoxious notes on how they should run their business). Good news is that they've fixed a ton of the issues they had when they first opened. It's still a little funky the way they do the take out orders but everything else is amazing. Food and drinks are out of this world. It says my go to morning place. Fantastic all around. Thank you for being the best new breakfast/lunch place in Eagle Rock!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is overrated.
I love the bread and have bought loaves in the past. I came on a Friday noon and thought maybe I could get a seat inside; no dice. The amount of adults who live on the Eastside and can take time to dine out on a weekday perplexes me. I got takeout which was a reasonable 15 minute wait. I wish they had online ordering though. I saw folks pick up their orders so there must be a way I'm unaware of.I got home with the food and overall found it to be bland. For the line of people standing outside, you would think this was great food. The Italian sando I got was nothing to write home about. The clam chowder was not a chowder and more like a thin creamy seafood broth. I'm glad to have a central location to buy fresh bread, but the food that supports it at this location is overhyped and nothing to write home bout (but here I am?). I don't get it; on the Eastside in this gentrifying area, you would expect better.

Breakfast and lunch here are absolutely delicious! Simple and yet so good.We ordered a cortado, a mocha, a black sesame bostock, their onion breakfast sandwich and the chorizo and egg breakfast sandwich. One lunch time we had the ham royale and the tuna sandwich, their sampler appetizer of seeded bread, carrots and beets, cabbage, olives and almonds. We also got a slice of their chocolate mousse pie. This place absolutely has the best bread in all of Los Angeles! We've had their breads from different places and so very happy they have a restaurant now to enjoy more of their bakes.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely hot and trendy and worth the hype.
Easily some of the best bread i've ever had. That's 54 years of bread eating. can't say that i remember too many slices in my day. I used towork by La Brea bakery and they had an olive bread that was pretty damn good. And Bob Longhi's in Maui had some amazing pre-dinner bread... But this is wow bread. Just damn good. Go and eat their bread it's that good.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best new sandwich spots in East LA.
Highly recommend! Love the tuna sandwich.
Be the first to ReplyEverything was fresh and delicious.
We came for breakfast but since it was past 10 am we gladly stayed and just enjoyed the amazing deli sandwiches, salads and the pastries. That fruit galette, OMG!!!; it was heavenly!!! Be sure to get an extra one as these sell fast. While we didn't have the matzo ball soup, it sure looked really delicious. As South Floridian, I also have to say that this was one of the best key lime pies. Great food and great service.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for lunch on a Sunday.
Quick 20 minute wait for a party of 3. Service was quick and we ordered a few things off the menu:Brisket sandwich (5/5): my favorite, really good w the arugula and fatty brisket and adding some hot sauce is recommended Roast beef Au jus (4/5): good sandwich but the jus is directly on the sandwich which made the whole thing soggy and a bit messy to eatPickle plate (4/5): I love pickles so this was a great side. The tomatoes were unique but one of the cucumbers didn't really taste pickled.Cool diner vibes and coffee was also good. Definitely recommend checking it out

Such a cute little shop! The staff is super friendly and I loved sitting at the bar and watching the sandwiches get prepared. I ordered the brisket sandwich. It didn't disappoint! It was juicy, crunchy from the pickled veggies, and a little sweet (I think from thinly shaved apples maybe?)The bread was really soft and you could tell was made the same day. I would 100% go again for lunch!

Best tuna sandwich I've ever had! I also loved the matzoh ball soup, meatloaf sandwich special and the potato chips. Everything was outstanding. Yum!
Be the first to ReplyI'm sorry but if you charge $4.
50 for a regular glazed donut, I can not in good conscience support your business. It may sound ridiculous but it's deeper than that just being outraged at the price of something that should, in principle, always be cheap.I don't care about inflation, overhead, or whatever litany of reasons restaurants so often give, if you are charging damn near $5 for a glazed donut, you are ripping people off, particularly in a historically working class neighborhood. If you want to charge $15, $16 for sandwiches with specialty meats, by all means go right ahead, but my problem with so many of these "hipster", asthetically driven foodie spots popping up in gentrified neighborhoods across America is that I know they view themselves as being thoroughly of the left. Progressive. Of the artist. In truth, these places are as capitalist driven as the yuppies they view as their opposites and are a huge part of the problem with America. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the food is delicious and expertly made. Go buy their food if you feel so inclined. But if you're charging $4.50 for a glazed donut, you can take a hike.
