Below expectation
Very poor food. Service to be desired. Very good atmosphere! I wouldn't go back because the value for money is not worth it. The meat (filet mignon) had no taste and the side dish was very simple. Doesn't live up to the name of the restaurant

Very good French service with simple but very good dishes. The bow tie service bravo and the stuffed pig’s trotter is exceptional

This brewery is a first for us This is a very nice discovery The meal was excellent, the service impeccable The servers full of humor and kindness but very professional we didn't miss anything they are very attentive In short, we will come back very soon And I highly recommend this place, you will have a delicious time there.

Very characteristic and Parisian place. High bill for what we ate. 10 euros a piece of cheese. The worst thing were the waiters, arrogant, rude and rude! I wouldn't go back even if they gave me dinner as a gift

Ignorant service, good food, expensive. Waiters did not look too happy to have us there. Food was ok, expensive though.

Sorry to those who criticize the Lipp brasserie but I must say it is a brasserie service it is not a gastro the products are fresh the leeks do not come from a plastic box when you have a real palate we can tell the difference . When it comes to reception, it is obvious that well-known people are recognized, others are also received with due respect.

Bad experience. Establishment that lives on its old reputation. Almost all the tables touch each other. Total discomfort during the meal: tiny tables, going to the toilet is a feat, poor quality of food, unrecommendable fries. Bad value for money. A curiosity: they ask strangers for a tip by offering them a pen to write the amount on the note. But not for us, Parisians.
Be the first to ReplyStaff completely ruin it
Was very excited to go here and thought it was beautiful. We are visitors from NZ so our French was limited but not for lack of trying. While we enjoyed our escargot and starters hugely our mains were quite average and badly cooked, this was not however what ruined what would have otherwise been a special night, it was the staff and service who completely let this beautiful place down. As mentioned our average French was almost taken as a licence to provide subpar and rude service, from slapping our meals onto our plates, pouring fries between plates to remove the other plates from the table to chucking or throwing cutlery down across the table as if they were in a complete rush… it honestly was quite strange. We initially thought maybe this carelessness was part of the general vibe of the place but watched sadly as the table of French people next to us received normal levels of care and attention as their meals were served. The staff were impatient and grumpy- simply it seemed by the fact we were not French. There were a number of other small issues which are not worth mentioning but also contributed to the useless experience we had. We are not used to the tipping customs in NZ so when the bill came we did not know what to do. Our waiter handed the bill back demanding a tip. We obliged (albeit obviously smaller than was he wanted judging by his face) but in all honesty there was certainly no service worth tipping in our opinion ( putting aside the 300 euro bills for dry steak). Overall a really really disappointing meal, such a a beautiful aesthetic and iconic reputation and history but there is nothing going for this place it was genuinely an unpleasant experience by old male waiters who clearly need to retire given they have no idea how to perform a job in hospitality service ( or if they do it is completely selective on whether or not they think you are worth it ) I would not recommend this old crusty place there are a million more amazing dining experiences else where in Paris.
Be the first to ReplyAtmosphere of the Paris of yesteryear
One of the most famous historic restaurants in Paris, a true legend for the atmosphere of the past, with waiters dressed as in the 1950s. Of course you have to jostle to find a table, there are even long queues outside in the evening and inside a little of confusion. You don't spend a little, but you pay for the environment. Normal food, good, even if the menu is always a bit the same, in the regional style of Alsace.

My mother and I ate Brasserie Lipp this evening (8/8/22) while visiting Paris. (She made reservations for two well in advance). We attempted to enter the restaurant and were greeted by an astonishingly large gentleman screaming at us and shoving us through the revolving door to the entry foyer. He screamed at us again, shoved us toward the host, and then shoved his way again through the now three of us who were waiting to be seated. He continued to scream and bully his way through the remainder of the meal, ultimately dropping a tray full of glassware in the middle of the revolving door. The rest of the servers were at best indifferent if not even semi-hostile. The food was so-so, the prices average, and the entire experience inhospitable and unnerving. I would definitely not recommend this establishment to any females or middle aged/elderly women traveling alone. We deserve better.

i had great expectations with this lunch which i booked some weeks in advance. We were placed at a room at the end of the restaurant. Lots of tables like a little bit crowded, but it was OK. I would prefer to stay at the first room as a reservation was made and it seemed much nicer. The Menu had lot of option but i think i choose a bad one. It was they signature dish for sunday but it was a little little bit of meat surrounded by fat and deep fried. Didn' enjoyed. But i was proably mymistake as i saw other dishes looking more nicer. The service was super fast, i think it took 5 minutes after order to get our dishes ! Desserts were OK. I was not surprised by any dish and it was an ordinary meal when i expected to be surprised by a good dish the least.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid at all costs!
Rude and demeaning service spoils the visit. If you think you will re-live A Moveable Feast, think again. Our waiter raised his voice at me when I didn’t understand a French term for a species of fish. (It turns out he spoke English well, so I suspect his dismissive attitude was intentional.) Hemingway would never have stood for this kind of treatment. I heard other folks ask for an English menu, which was not available, and I get that. But I don’t accept maltreatment by a waiter—and then being automatically charged 10% on top of the bill for the tip. Avoid it!

Despite the three of us being dressed like typical American tourists (shorts & trainers) and a sign outside stating no shorts, the very traditional French waiters seated and served us with courtesy and consideration, which was quite nice after very rude treatment at another restaurant close by. The Kir Royals are excellent. We started with jambon with melon -- delish -- and sardines, which were not to our liking as we were expecting them to be grilled, then on to main courses. My daughter and I enjoyed our main courses -- sausages for her and lentils with ham for me (delish but heavy, I couldn't even eat half) but her boyfriend ordered dish that looked like raw bacon on top of sausages and sauerkraut, which he did not enjoy. Lesson learned -- ask for a translation if you are unsure. He asked for a to-go box and then gave his dinner to a homeless man who immediately tucked in with gusto. My daughter and I should have done the same as we couldn't even eat half of ours and it is criminal to waste food when there our people literally just outside who would be happy to eat it. This is a very traditional and somewhat expensive restaurant so know before you go and set expectations accordingly and you will enjoy.

I was attracted to this venue given its worldwide fame. The food was very nice, but the service must be upgraded if the status is to be preserved. My meal came in two installments 10 minutes apart, and the glass of (expensive) wine was served without showing the bottle
Be the first to ReplyIt was one of the worst dinners in my entire life
I go to Brasserie Lipp since I was 5 years old, last night it was my last visit there. As a tourist I was mistreated by the waiters and they gave 5% of the attention they gave the rest of the costumers. The food was good, but unfortunately, because of the way I was treated I put nails in the restaurant’s coffin. I won’t recommend going there to any of my friends that visit Paris or any other tourist that reads this. I hope the service improves and that in a distant future it becomes a nice and welcoming environment to all.
Be the first to ReplyOver priced, over rated, arrogant staff, average food (tinned sardines for starters?!!!!)
This restaurant was recommended to us so we had reasonable expectations. The waiters we found quite arrogant, also they pack diners in like sardines (v close to other diners and tables added even to block aisles). The food was very average and overpriced (as was the wine). We were also quite taken aback when one of us ordered sardines for starters and the waiter arrived with a plate and a tin and with great aplomb upended the tin onto the plate in front of us. My advice would be: try harder, have a little more humility, be nice to guests, have an English menu or at least have someone capable of (and willing to pleasantly) translate the French menu into English
