Bombay Brasserie London Reviews from The Last Year
Despicable customer service
Ok. we made reservations 3 months ahead of time to start. We were meeting two other couples from Vancouver, Canada. We have eaten in this restaurant several times before and loved every bite and bragged about it to our friends! 5 days before, the reservation was cancelled by them because they were offered a better deal by hosting a private event. Try and get another reservation at a premium Indian restaurant that soon👎. We were SOOO disappointed! They offered a discount at their sister restaurant that was $100CND taxi ride away BOTH ways! We stay at the Millennium Gloucester because this place is close by. We will never darken their door again. BTW..I was able able to secure a last minute reservation at Light of India and it was amazing! Goodbye Bombay Brasserie👎👎😡
Brand name doesn’t cover the quality !!
Visited with group of people. Expectation was really high because it’s a good banded chain restaurant, unfortunately food taste, quality and service was nothing near our expected level. Paner starer i had no taste. Wrong marination!! table sauces came after have finished our starer. Main meal was awful. Seems to me people go there for so called brand or name and fame. Be aware !!
I was pretty disappointed with this stroll down memory lane.
I'd come here a fair bit decades ago when I was working a lot in London. In a city of plentiful, very good, local Indian holes in the wall, I always viewed this as a big step up. Fancy Indian food. Today, I'd say it's just pricey Indian food. Nothing was particularly good, -- I don't know my wife loved the naan bread. Chicken makhani was the best. Spinach was good and interesting. Seekh kebab, meh. Spicy artichoke hearts were greasy and mostly breadly. Papadum chips? Why not real papadum? They felt almost like packaged chips. Silly small portion of rice. No samosas on the menu? Decor is dated. Service was decent. Hard pass on a future visit.
Saturday Brunch
Amazing food, lovely decor and friendly waiting staff. We have eaten here before and absolutely loved the experience. We visited again on Saturday and were not disappointed.
A superb family celebratory lunch, with excellent food, in a relaxed atmosphere.
We had a wonderful buffet lunch at the Bombay Brasserie last Sunday. We were celebrating 3 family birthdays here for the second year running and found the food and service to be consistently excellent, and the relaxed ambience makes it a perfect place for a celebration of mixed ages . The choice of food is perfect for both young children and adults, and the 6 year old loved his birthday candle! Thank you.
Delicious higher end Indian Restaurant
Delicious food , lovely atmosphere and service. Huge succulent prawns ( a little expensive but market forces ). Always delicious here
Good Indian food
Upscale Indian restaurant with delicious and pretty authentic Indian food. Plenty of vegetarian choices, friendly staff. I'd go back
Sumptuous and worth every penny
I had an exceptional experience. Every part was exemplary. The food is out of this world and the service is attentive and helpful. Highly recommended
Quality good, but small portions and expensive
It was OK but not outstanding. Service was very good - attentive without being intrusive. Two diners were veggie, and there was a reasonable choice (though maybe not as much as some Indian restaurants). Although the portion sizes were ok for me personally, as I have a small appetite, I don't think just a main dish would satisfy a hungry guy - would need a starter and some sides. Also, the prices are quite high, even for central London. However, the quality was good. What spoilt the evening a bit was the fact that last orders are strictly 9 pm (isn't that a bit early for central London - I think 9:30 is more normal?) Two diners arrived 8:50 having had a 2.5 hour journey - so it was all a bit rushed and we did feel a bit pressured to order and get out by 10 pm - I think we were the last ones left by then,
Very good, authentic food.
Super yummy! I’ve been coming to Bombay Brasserie for over a decade. I find the food to be very good and the service is warm. They offer authentic Indian beer choices and provide attentive service. I’ll go back for another 10 years!
Good Indian food
The food was wonderful full of flavour. The customer service was excellent, but I think the meal was overpriced for what we got.
Can I get you your bill
The food was ok not brilliant BUT the biggest problem was that the team were watching you like a hawk and as soon as you finish they would jump on you to cross sell. After having the desert, the waiter came over and said ' can I get you anything else' we said no thanks, the waiter said 'well can I get you the bill' !!!! I beg your pardon! we have never had the waiter offering the bill lol - won't be going back again. Also the place is well over priced.
Best Indian restaurant in London
Fantastic food and service. This is easily the best Indian restaurant in London in my opinion. This is my ‘go to’ restaurant whenever I’m in London for business or pleasure.
My boyfriend and I love Indian food.
We eat it at least once a week and have even taken Indian cooking classes, so we really enjoy it. Living in Miami, we were talking for weeks about how excited we were to come to London and eat great Indian food. This was honestly a very disappointing experience. While I don't love writing negative reviews, I also don't want others like us who travel overseas looking for great food to end up here eating overpriced, underwhelming food. Drinks: I ordered the mango chili margarita. It was lacking in flavor and which is surprising because I typically love mango cocktails. Appetizers: we actually loved the chicken trio appetizer. It made us so excited for our meal because the meat was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We also ordered the dosa and spinach. The sauces that came with the apps were great. The appetizers were the only part of the meal we liked, unfortunately. Main courses: my boyfriend ordered the murgh makhani, I had the shrimp, and we ordered lemon rice and garlic naan. His makhani had a burnt taste but was otherwise not very flavorful. The chicken had a weird, rubbery texture. I ordered the shrimp because it had a * next to it meaning it's supposed to be spicy and I LOVE spicy food; however, black pepper is spicier than this shrimp. It was covered in green sauce yet somehow had virtually no flavor. The garlic naan didn't taste garlicky at all. The only thing I enjoyed eating was the lemon rice. Ambiance: I liked the waiting area when you first walk in, but in the main dining area, the lights are bright and it doesn't feel intimate or like a typical evening meal at a fine dining restaurant. Service: the service was okay, but it was a bit confusing that multiple people came to take our order so we kept having to re order or say that we already ordered. Overall, skip this place and try a different restaurant if what you're looking for is great Indian food with lots of flavor. If you're looking to pay 200 pounds for a disappointing meal, this is the place.
